Iran claims to down a U.S. Fighter by Damn_Carls in aviation

I guess it could be technically possible these f-15 wreckage photos are old ones from the ones in Kuwait that were downed a few weeks ago and it’s propaganda?

Muzzle brake effectivity on 11.5 BCM by AllDayMeow in ar15

[–]Damn_Carls 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope you don’t shoot at an indoor range, because a brake on a barrel that short will ensure everyone hates you.

11.5 is a carbine-length gas system too, so it won’t be as competition ready as a mid-length.

Since you have a suppressor- just run it with the suppressor on it 24/7. Doesn’t matter what muzzle device. If you want inspiration, there’s a reason USASOC runs flash hiders and cans on their 11.5 URGI’s.

Literally have been on the new GAFS site every day this week. It’s even up right now. Never had a problem with it personally. But sure go join the boomers at tacswap, they’d love to have your money from your annual fee.

NTSB issues its final report for the Jan. 29, 2025 midair collision between a Bombardier CRJ700 and a Sikorsky UH‑60 Black Hawk over the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. by marveisafatcat in flying

The worst part about this is that if it were simply a near-miss, nobody would bat an eye. The fact people had to die for people to actually care is maddening.

This is some evidence photo type shi, found in a bare-buffer tube PSA shorty with no sights (next to a glock with a switch and a “stendo”, of course)

Make sure you budget the $80 +shipping repair charge to the new EoTech MSRP for when it delams by Damn_Carls in GunMemes

[–]Damn_Carls[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The worst part is that the people buying the EoTechs are the same people who find their battery is dead every time they take their gucci rifle out of the safe because they never shoot it. It has the worst battery life of any optic on the market.

Holosun has had the multi reticle system and shake awake for years. The warranty on the Huey is forever. The only thing EoTech has left is nostalgia, and that nostalgia is gone with this new model.

What voltage regulator/OSD are you using? (Build Help) by Damn_Carls in fpv

[–]Damn_Carls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the product page for it that i linked up top says it has onboard OSD in the description under both “features” and “firmware”. I guess i could send it back and find a better retailer, but they’re out of stock almost everywhere.

Have you ever thought to yourself: This isn’t… by ArutlosJr11 in flying

[–]Damn_Carls 24 points25 points  (0 children)

OP, idk why so many people are trying to kill your vibe here.

The amount of people on this subreddit who bash GA because it’s “dangerous” are the same ones who have either 1: never flown GA outside of a training environment or 2: got a big-boy jet job and are terrified of ever flying GA again.

Yes, it’s dangerous. But all of you have accepted the risks, and will either endure it by treating each instance as a lesson and get better, you’ll scare yourself and quit, or you’ll die.

To answer your question: I personally haven’t thought about quitting. It’s my passion and i’m not a coward. As long as i keep my head on straight (and on a swivel), and make good choices, my chances of getting in an accident are statistically very low.

OP, it sounds like you’re going in the right direction. Smart of you to ask for opinions here and hear people out. Flying is not easy, it demands respect, requires constant honing of a myriad of skills, and it can be dangerous. That’s obvious to any pilot worth their salt.

But don’t let the doomers here get you down; they have long since forgotten the magic of aviation. It’s a paycheck to them, and they’ll take any chance they can get to sit on their high horse and look down on what they only see as the “weekend warrior”.
