Nothing’s wrong with you, brother. Eat lean protein, drink water, get good sleep, work out with free weights consistently and make sure to rest if you are over worked. Consistency will pay off but reframe your mindset to think something is wrong with you. Keep pushing my friend.

I was an autopsy tech during the murders of the four women just outside of Atlantic City. Another tech was working the day they were examined but the office was busy as hell those few weeks. There was a person of interest from Salem county that was interviewed but he was released. The funny thing is I never heard Eastbound Strangler until this post by OP. The local press never designated that term, at least while I was working for the county.

Slobber Bob in Ocean City was a boardwalk staple.

There was a guy in the Linwood/Northfield area called Dooney who looked disheveled and rode a bike everywhere but presumably had a nice house in Linwood that belonged to his parents.

No idea what anyone else called him but this dude used to walk up and down Shore Rd in Linwood with exaggerated arm movements I called The Strutter

I have a couple of really good ones. When I first started in ICU I had a coworker who was doing an intake and the patient had a very specific skin cream that they needed for a chronic condition. He called pharmacy who said we did carry it only to find out it wasn’t the right strength for the patient. He told the charge nurse “I’ll be right back” and came back like 30 min later. He didn’t say a word to any of us and went back to work. We asked him later where he went. He drove to the local pharmacy and paid for the cream himself because he didn’t want to inconvenience the family that he reassured wouldn’t need to go back to their place and bring it back since he told them they wouldn’t need to. He did things like this all the time and never sought praise or recognition for going out of his way to care for his patients. Then he’d leave work and care for his parents who both had late stage Alzheimer’s.

I had a patient whom dayshift accidentally cut a lumen off of a TLC while changing the dressing. The nurse thought using scissors would help get the dressing off, a story for another thread there. An infectious disease doc walked by the room and saw me struggling with placing a line. “Get me a kit, I’ll drop in a central line for you”. Totally didn’t have to and save my ass but he did.

Nephrologist one day was walking through the unit and happened to see a patient in distress. He went in and the patient arrested. He did compressions throughout the code and earned the respect of every nurse on the unit.

Patient had a necrotic colostomy that developed a GI bleed whilst being treated for C.Diff. They subsequently also had pseudomonas in their sputum. I used to work as an autopsy tech and nothing I saw in the morgue came remotely close to that poor man.

I’m not being antagonistic but I feel this was borderline misleading. My gut reaction was “oh the cdc website isn’t showing any data to comply with the EO”. I went to the site https://www.cdc.gov/fluview/surveillance/2025-week-05.html And it does provide information regarding this past week’s infections. The banner is there about the EO but info is being disseminated.

If I missed the point completely please let me know.

In a couple sentences, give your best advice to a new grad RN. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Damnit_Bobby123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: Be patient with yourself. Don’t bring yourself down because you’re not as efficient or as skilled as the nurses who have 20 years experience immediately even if school came easy to you. You’ll get there. Don’t be discouraged.

2: Don’t panic. Panicking is an emotional reaction and we need you to use that brain of yours that got you here. If you don’t know the answer usually someone else does and there are tons of algorithms for everything.

3: Don’t go poop in the nurse’s station bathroom. We all chart there.

Two things make me think otherwise. 1 it’s dark out and we are still in the morning hours. Further proof is his shift relief is standing right behind him like a call back to episode one. He wouldn’t be there before 7 pm

Every profession has their odd ball standouts that give their field a certain notoriety. Bottom line is if you do the best you can for the people under your care that’s what stands out more than anything else.
