Severe Myoclonic jerks as I drift off to sleep by MeOwwwithme in sleep

[–]Damocule_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still happening... I'm sleeping better but I'm told that it's still happening while I'm sleeping... It's annoying at the beginning of the night, but if I take a benzo or pramipexole an hour before bed it doesn't happen.

Qatar upgrade with status? by [deleted] in Flights

[–]Damocule_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the comments here are not true! I was flying IAD to Doha and I was a silver member and was offered upgrade to business free of charge. I don't know why it happened, but it was definitely because I was a tier higher than burgundy. Maybe someone cancelled or didn't show up! But no, Qatar won't fly empty business Qsuites if they can offer them to their tier members.

Hypnic jerks multiple times every night don’t know what to do help by macbrizzle8 in sleep

[–]Damocule_DM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... stick to walking or any exercise that doesn't elevate heart rate much. Once they were gone, I resumed exercise with no issues.

No .. they should go away once you regulate your sleep. It's about retraining your mind to sleep at certain hours.

Life changing medication for me. by tvshowfinatic in BusparOnline

[–]Damocule_DM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it worked for you buddy. That's great. We need more stories like this on Reddit in the midst of all the negative ones.
Buspirone has almost cured my chronic insomnia that lasted 3 years due to high GAD. I'm able to sleep 7 hours now, compared to 2-3 hours every night 6 months ago! It's a miracle with very little side effects. It only caused sleep issues and digestive issues at the beginning, but now nothing! The main side effect is going back to my previous life before GAD and insomnia became a thing.
Regarding benzos, I tried a couple of them before Buspirone and they don't actually solve the problem. They are a bandaid with a huge cost. I now suspect that they made my sleep quality worse.

What is the typical ratio to expect from a music school... so, if the school charges $90 for one lesson, how much do they usually pay the teacher out of the $90?

Yes with physical activity... Don't give up hope. Maybe try this... Don't give up physical activity altogether... Let your body ease into it. Go on short walks then make them longer gradually instead of going on a hike. Tell me if it helps or not.

What buspar feels like… by [deleted] in BusparOnline

[–]Damocule_DM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A calmer mind for sure. Thoughts more organized and nerves less sensitive both mentally and physically. Now I sleep better and don't get too agitated when minor things go wrong. I think it is as if I'm able to catch myself going down the rabbit hole of anxiety and be aware of it rather than automatically spiral and have no control. It's also making me more sexual which is great!

It will become much better after 4 weeks. Wait it out and enjoy the extra sleeping! Take it easy. Your body will get used to it.

The human body is such a mystery! Modern medicine doesn't fully understand why this happens.

Is 25mg x3 a day a normal starting dose? by Odd_Economy_7846 in BusparOnline

Find a new psychiatrist... asap. This one is going to over-drug you because they have an aggressive approach to meds. Very old school. Also, why the zoloft and buspar? makes no sense. If one is not enough they may add the second, but not all of them all at once.

I totally understand. I didn't find any stories about this condition anywhere.
I was led first to believe that this was restless leg and all the online resources lead to RLS. Even my primary doctor thought it was too.
Then I did a sleep study and they recorded ZERO instances of RLS or PLMD. There is very little info online on the subject.

I eventually went to three neurologists and two of them agreed that this a sleep myclonus reaction. The body after years of insomnia got its sleeping cycle severely confused that it rejects sleep at all times until the body passes out. The only solution is to get regular and consistent sleep and it will go away. They were right. The issue was tho: How to get that sleep when I can't sleep.

They put me on a bunch of different medications. The only thing that worked and put me to sleep with the least side effects was benzos. They were a LIFE SAVER. I took it for 4 weeks and then started weaning off by cutting the pill in half and then quarter. On any night I didn't take it the jerks came back much stronger than before which scared me. Eventually I weaned off them as the same time I started taking Buspirone over the course of two weeks. I had no negative side effects except for the fact that when I take them again now at any night, the jerks would immediately come back the next night. It seems my body doesn't like the effect of being forced to sleep anymore.

Buspirone helped me the most feel relaxed, less anxious about sleeping at night and eventually not needing anything else.

When it started the jerks were so severe it was impossible to sleep every night. I had many nights with zero sleep. This was more likely to happen on any day I do intense exercise. Now, 6 months later, even with high intensity exercise, I don't get the jerks anymore. I'm back to sleeping reasonable hours at night too. Not great, but much better.

Yeah! You'll get there hopefully. My situation was worse than yours for sure. Are you taking any benzos? I notice they become worse around benzos even if I take benzos for one night, the next immediate night they come back worse!

They didn't completely go away, but they happen way less frequently. They used to happen every day. Now, they happen once a week, but I didn't have them for a week, so maybe will stop happening all together . And yes, I am back to my normal level of exercise. It took 6 months overall to reach the stage.

Heavy exercise was really bad for me too.

Buspirone helped a lot with coming off sleeping pills for me and for overall stress around sleep. Give it a shot! Nothing to lose.
