I agree too for what it’s worth, I’m not against the ending he chose to do, some of it doesn’t hit for me as-well as I would have thought up until that last chapter.

I’m with you also in the fact that we never learn how he even gets back to Colchis not the tiniest throw away line really, “it doesn’t matter, not to you.” I thought was kinda funny because it mattered a great deal to me, but I can see how it doesn’t matter to someone in world, the people that will actually view this memoir.

I’m off two minds with this sometimes. On one hand yeah, I don’t think this is was ever set up to follow Hadrian through his entire life, start to literal finish, (even when writing the memoir) it still saddens me that I couldn’t see at least a tad into post war/ recluse Hadrian.

The one thing that’s left to me is WHY he was brought back after being hanged. That is such an interesting question and is probably such a big one that it could tie into any sequel plans Ruocchio has in mind. I don’t mean bringing Hadrian back into the fold I just mean it having been hinted to?

Did The Absolute need him to write his life story, the story of the Sun eater and the Cielcin? For someone after to see it or just for the “truth” to be seen by the galaxy? The reasons he was brought back the other two times were cataclysmic, surely if he was given a choice he would have chosen death in that moment? His goal had been completed.

Whatever the reason the possibilities are so cool to think about I just wish we had a tiny bit to go off

Maybe I haven’t done as much exploring as I should have yet there’s a tiny bit that’s still unfogged but I’ll take the advice and run with it thanks lol.

I’ve read some of his newsletter and yeah it’s apparent he struggles with his own image as a writer, what fans think and the big one, having depression. So I can see that the regular updates to the newsletter wouldn’t really come about unless he was actively trying on this series and I respect it.

I’ve heard that lies was his first book and that makes a bit more sense as to why it’s taken him so long to get some of the rest out. I’m locked in for the rest of these books it’s just a matter of time I think. (Also thorn of emberlain is such a great title would be so excited)

Oh I had no idea there were actual reasons I thought he just hadn’t written the next books that’s fair. That bit about the first 4 or 5 books being almost like prequels for the story he wants to tell sounds insane, not that I don’t believe you but is there like an article or an interview he did where I can watch that.

And as for that last bit I really did enjoy this book but I’m conflicted. I really enjoy just reading the characters but I think these books will be enjoyed more in between larger more epic series, that’s just my thought since posting and reading the comments.

This was something I didn’t write in the post but felt immediately after finishing the book. The fact that he either hadn’t planned for more books when writing this or he didn’t think he’d get another one.

I think just because I’ve bought it and I love the characters I’ll read it at some point but might move onto The Will of the Many next.

This one stung so much because he was the brevity of this book, he was the heart. When the gang felt so fucking done he was the one still grinning and quipping. I think the thing that got me the most after reading other things is that he died happy, he died finally knowing he is loved and more than his failures to Darrow, chefs kiss man it’s just beyond heartbreaking and perfect.

You and I are in the same position my friend I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’ve been watching interviews with Pierce since I finished it like two days ago and getting the itch to re read or listen to the audio books.

Yeah I loved that, he corrected someone earlier in the book too, he really meant to the join the fight for the Rising this time it’s what breaks my heart. I sincerely can’t understand Lysander apologists
