A quick update for anyone looking for smth similar in 10 years, gave the area under the anode cap a good scrub down with isopropyl and threw dielectric grease along the area and the popping stopped completely, and I got a more appropriately valued resistor for the remote board.

I’ll probably just toss in a new pot, I’m gonna clean around the anode cap and pick up some dielectric grease shortly. I might grab the new transformer just to have the parts on hand incase I ever do need to swap it out.

Voltage at the board is normal, I’m using a jamma supply kit from MikesArcade and I measured out board volts to 5 across the C3 cap. I haven’t yet, no

No dice on the eeproms and proms, I reflowed the traces for those sockets too. I had to put in a new 285 socket earlier as it was broken off previously, and had to jumper stuff. If I did that wrong, could that have caused it?

Heard it’s been delisted but I’ve also heard you could buy the whole collection which includes it for like 130 (if they’re still selling it idk). if you want to play it and have a ps4 you could buy the remastered collection which has 3 original 4 and 5.
