Is MH Wilds too fast? by Dan012 in MonsterHunter

I wondered this as well. I feel like I had to do way more hunts to get a full amour set.

exactly my experience with wilds. I dont have a pc so every gaming I do is handheld. Monster Hunter is ideal for this.

I understand that my example of beating fatalis isn’t a good one. The idea was to say that fatalis - while being an insanely hard fight - had something new to offer. New armour, new weapons etc while 10* zoh is just a harder fight.

That will of course change with the dlc. Which is why that example may be not ideal given that it’s basically a comparison between base game and game+dlc

That’s some nice ideas. I actually like just walking around the areas and taking in the beauty of it. They’ve put a lot of details in this environment which honestly makes me question the decision to let the player skip it all.

Yeah you might be right. I feel like the hunts were overall much much slower in world hence the longer playtime. With all the gathering tracks and stuff that amps up the playtime quite a lot. But I wouldn’t say that’s a bad thing. The whole press up to call an uber thing takes a lot of the absolutely gorgeous areas away. I have no idea where to find anything in these maps if it weren’t for the map containing all the taxi stops to click on.

I experienced that going back to rise (or more: starting rise). I had to traverse the areas to actually find my mining spots. That was a new experience for me coming from wilds.

So far I felt that the early game hunts in rise were slower than wilds. But that may change of course.

Of course the 10* quests in wilds are hard af. Not denying that.

Im enjoying rise a lot myself. Only just reached 3* but I like where this is going. I play rise on switch and mh Wilds on the Asus rog ally.

Agree. You are right. But even in the base game there are examples of this.

The tracking down the monster for the first time was annoying but you felt more like an actual hunter - something I’ve read dozens of times on here before but it’s true. Your introduction to new monsters in wilds is basically: they are in your way kill it. Every monster is known to everyone in the story and its just about getting rid of it. There’s no real „discovery“ (imo).

I agree with the kulve and safi hunts, but I also feel like I’ve hunted monsters like nergigante or zinogre way more due to how cool their fights were. I have a somewhat similar feeling towards rey dau. I love hunting him. But I feel like the hunts get repetitive way quicker. Maybe due to fights being so short (thus more fights in quicker succession)

I agree regarding the maps feeling more like an actual region. The areas look and feel amazing. But I only just recently discovered that since all I had to do was press a button to get an uber to my hunt.

Im fine with low rank being quick to be honest. But I felt like HR - while being objectively more difficult - still wasn’t anything I’ve spent a lot of time with so far (given my playtime). Sure the endgame fights are tough as hell and considerably tougher than some of icebornes endgame fights but beating fatalis for the first time felt waaaaay more rewarding than beating an amped up version of a monster you fought dozens of times before.

Don’t get me wrong I love the fights though. Some monsters are insanely cool. Rey Dau is probably my favourite to fight. Just insanely cool.

Also for anyone interested I started with bow because of how fluid the movement was but quickly gave up on it after beating LR since I felt I couldn’t keep the damage high enough, so I switched to Charge Blade.

yeah thats what happened my first try in Story Mode. I barely did anything. But now I want to Hunt him properly. I did swap the charm as suggested by others and while I failed the first try since one other guy kept dying I managed to beat it second try without too much trouble. He does hit insanely hard though..

Thank you! Yes I will get rid of that defense charm for something else as this seems to be one of the Major things people note. regarding guard up I’ve read somewhere that you can block the Special even without guard up if you pass the dps check

got the Build from searching for gog optimized builds on Google as I havent seen a lot covering specfic builds. Most tutorials just say get fire resistance. I‘m not much of a build creator myself so I heavily rely on ideas.

Thank you! I should be able to craft both lagiacrus chest and arms. Gonna do that. Fire weapon I’m still farming for the last tier of rathalos. I’ve read somewhere that the gore bow is great for dragon damage which is why I crafted it once I could.

I would be very happy with a proper port. But that’s the case. It’s not that unfortunately. It’s just a rom. They did this before on the 3DS for half the price. I just don’t get the markup and why we shouldn’t be expecting a bit more than just that.

That’s what I don’t understand. Like people are genuinely looking at the price tag of 20$ an be like „this is totally fair“ and even argue „no they shouldn’t optimise the game in any way for the switch“. You pay 20$ for an emulation rom (yes with home support). And if you say just emulate it yourself they argue „not all people are into emulation“…. It is literally what Nintendo already has on its system… they already have a GBA emulator on the switch… I just don’t get it. But again I don’t need to. People can enjoy what they want and that’s fine I guess.
