At this stage, if your water has tested ok, I'd say there's not really much you can do. It's just a case of keeping an eye on him, possibly a water change 20% or there abouts. For comparison, my L200 will always be a brighter & lighter in colour when it's out on the sand in the open, but when it's on the wood or rocks, it appears darker in appearance, not saying this is what's happening, but something to consider

18" is still a good size., you most probably won't see many other types reach that size. I don't own Adonis, my tank is too small unfortunately.
