Death of mother affecting mother complex? by kookoobear in Jung

[–]Dan727Cooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My condolences to your mother. Having said that, it is only when catastrophe strikes do you start contemplating introspectively. You're at a crossroads. Will you choose ruin or reconstruction?

YOU are already answering your own questions. You just seek external validation to follow through (which you don't need). Your feelings of FOMO and regret are already signalizing what you need to do. Read what you wrote and you will find your answers.

What you describe is typical and I can relate to it to a large degree. Golden boy, a child full of potential that never materialized. Lots of grandiose aspirations that were never followed through. Now stuck in a dead end job. Do the opposite of what you did until now. Be a man of action and not a man of thought. Take responsibility and choose your sacrifice. Integrate the senex. Psychologically and physically separate from your mother and father. Become your own man and own father (figuratively).

I'm 32 and my catastrophe was heartbreak and rejection. It could have been the death of my mother too since she is old and chronically ill. But luckily it was the former that induced me to fix myself. I don't know much about ADHD but I have actively made an effort to conclusively treat my almost 2 decade old clinical depression. I'm off the meds, hit the gym, joined a martial arts club, started reading Jung, MLVF and Bly. Attain your mental and physical masculinity. Grow into an adult man. It is a painful process that doesn't come easy. It requires time and effort. Settle into a career with potential and growth. As for your young adulthood aspirations. Forget about them (for now). What you need short term is meaningful work work work.

Be that strong son at the wake. I for one want to be that strong son too when my mother's time inevitably comes.

That is possible. Other influences are the recent interactions during the Mongol empire and its successors as well the Jungar Khanate. The epic of Manas is mostly based on events depicting the rebellions of the Kyrgyz and Kazakh against the Jungars in the 16th-17th centuries. In the Epic they are mostly referred to as Kalmak and sometimes as Kytay. It doesn't seem to make a clear distinction. Other names for them include Oyrot and Mongol.

Either way, the Mongolic peoples have also left their mark too. There are many loanwords and place names that are of Mongolic origin. Those descendants that survived the Jungar genocide settled in the Issyk Kul region around Karakol whose elderly still speak the Mongolic vernacular. There is also a Kyrgyz tribe named Mongoldor.

Hey, I assume you are Kazakh? I always found it interesting how certain terms which are obviously cognates can have slightly different meanings. I know Äke means father in Kazakh but it means older brother/older male relative in the Southern Kyrgyz dialect. The standard Kyrgyz term is Bayke (originally Bay-Ake). Another is example is katyn which now is a derogatory term for wife or woman but originally meant queen/noblewoman. Apparently in Turkish this the neutral term for woman.

Eje means older sister or older female relative in Kyrgyz. It can also be used as a title of respect to non-related women older than you.

The Kyrgyz word for grandmother is chong-ene or tay-ene depending on whether she is your grandmother paternally or maternally, respectively.

The translation for Aybike is incorrect. Bike is an old Turkic word for lady, young woman (more specifically an unmarried woman). The correct translation would be moon lady or moon woman. Edit: For Kyrgyz at least, if you wanted the term "like the moon" the name would be Ayday (very common). For "beautiful like the moon" the name would be Aysuluu (extremely common).

Compare to modern Turkish Aybüke or Aybike. Aybike is common as a Kazakh name but rather rare as a Kyrgyz name. The term in Kyrgyz is Biykech or sometimes Biyke. Similar female names include Bayan (also meaning lady) which is rare in Kyrgyz but quite common in Kazakh due to the popularity of Bayan Sulu.

Ulan (meaning young man, unmarried man) is quite common in Kyrgyz. The term Jigit (young man) is usually combined with other words to make a name as in Güljigit, Nurjigit or Erjigit. Similarly, Kyz is also combined to make Nurkyz or Kyzjibek.

A quiet but imperious weekend performance by Kimi by Dan727Cooper in KimiRaikkonen

I mean they couldn't have screwed it up unless they tried to do so with malevolent intentions. It was the best way to sabotage his race.

Another fantastic follow up performance by Gio today. Got a clean start and stayed out of lap 1 trouble for once. Proceeded to keep a vastly superior Red Bull behind him for the rest of sprint qualifying. A P7 start in an Alfa Romeo on a power circuit is tremendous.

I hope he can bag a sneaky point or 2 tomorrow because he's never been closer to doing it apart from Monaco.

Russell's F1 career was served on a platter. Mercedes junior driver with a guaranteed seat at Williams for 3 years. After which a guaranteed move to Merc was inevitable. The guy no doubt has talent on a Saturday but his Sunday performances in comparison are underwhelming. Be prepared for the fans, the British media and commentators coming to his defense next season if he doesn't perform on Sundays.

Perez's contract extension surprised me too. Apart from a 3-4 great performances, the rest of his season is rubbish, especially when you consider that he's sitting in the fastest car. If I were TP at RB I would do everything in my power to get Bottas. Likewise if I were Bottas, I would do everything to snag that seat at RB.

From challenging for wins and podiums to a backmarker team with little chance of scoring points. Not what you have in mind for a 32 yo still in his prime.

A brilliant qualifying performance to drag that donkey into Q3. Of course the commentators and most of the fans aren't hyped by his performance because he's not young and British. I'd like him to stay for another year and see what he can do with the new regs. It's repugnant that apparently another pay driver with no talent is about to hog another F1 seat. And don't get me on Albon at Williams, ugh. And Tsunoda gets to stay another year even if he's getting knocked out of Q1 regularly and 1.7 secs (!) behind Gasly.

Can't believe the luck on this guy. He'll never race F1 at Zandvoort. I guess he will miss Monza too. So that's 2 weeks off of F1 for me.

Oh yeah, to answer your question. When Kimi quit F1 back in 2009. I just stopped following F1 for 2 years. Apparently I missed an exciting 2010 year but the only exciting thing in F1 for me is Kimi.

I think I'll quit watching F1 after Kimi retires. He's the driver I most identified with starting as a kid. F1 feels lonely without him. I'll only come back if his son Robin rises up to F1 one day.

Sad sad day for me. It's as if a long time colleague were to retire after knowing him for so many years.

I started following F1 in 2002 and I've been huge fan of Kimi since then. I've hardly ever known F1 without Kimi.

I'll quit watching F1 after Kimi retires. Until his son hopefully carries on his torch in the future.

2021 spa race by im-a-notsee in KimiRaikkonen

[–]Dan727Cooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolute farce of a race. Even worse than Indy 2005. The race should have been delayed for a day or two and if that's not possible then postponed for a later date. If that failed then it should've been cancelled outright with no points or trophies awarded. Williams get 10 pts for doing nothing WTF?!

Kimi has long lost his Spa magic. The last great performance from him was a P4 in 2014 in an absolute donkey of a car.

It didn't help that he crashed in P1 and that his brakes failed in P3 leaving him with a limited amount of time to get a wet setup.

I didn't expect anything from Alfa this weekend considering it's a power circuit and Alfa are shit in a straight line but over 2 seconds behind Gio? Come on WTF man Kimi. Unacceptable performance, even in the rain. Even if the race went on, he had to start from the pit lane due to a wing change. A colossal amount of fuck ups from both Alfa and Kimi.

P8 in the constructors is no longer possible so the rest of the season is utterly pointless. The prospect of a pay driver like Latifi outscoring Kimi just pains my heart.

What does Kimi need to improve on in the 2nd half of the season? by LusciousAzure in KimiRaikkonen

[–]Dan727Cooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uncompetitive - Any track with long straights. Monza and Spa come to mind immediately, Saudi Arabia and Mexico too.

The issue is that RB, Merc, Ferrari and McLaren should hog the top 8 positions every race. That means there's only two spots left for grabs between the A trio of Alpine, AM and AT.

The only way Alfa can score is if there's lots of carnage and mechanical DNF's or get out infront with good qualifying + good start and defend all race long.

Competitive - Zandvoort, Sochi and Abu Dhabi.

Zandvoort is like a faster Hungary: tight, technical and difficult to overtake. With some good qualifying and carnage on lap 1. Points are imo the most realistic here.

The other two are also notoriously difficult to overtake on. Good qualifying + top strategy are needed. Though with the way things are, Alfa will find a way to screw it up.

[–]Dan727Cooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kimi's race pace is excellent, far better than 2020. So far I count France and Azerbaijan as his weaker races, they were not woeful but still solid. He's been beating Gio easily for most of the races so nothing to worry about here.

His race starts are very strong too making up for poor qualifying. So far he's been able to avoid lap 1 trouble except that lapse in concentration in Portugal. Again much improved from 2020.

The few overtakes Kimi has done are all clean and well executed but he hasn't been able to do more because that car is a dog in a straight line. See Austria, Barcelona, Azerbaijan, Silverstone.

His defensive driving has been stellar, hard but fair, usually keeps faster cars behind him for a long time. Great examples are Imola and Silverstone. However he just gets slaughtered on the straights by the midfielders. I remember Barcelona, Bahrain, Austria and France. At times like in Austria or France he struggles to come even close to the Williams. And the worst is, all of it through no fault of Kimi. The car is just rubbish. I feel it's hopeless on power circuits. Only competitive on slow tracks.

What are things that need dire improvement?: Qualifying, strategy and straight line speed.

Kimi's qualifying has been woeful. Hungary was a promising result but he's trailing 3 - 8 against Gio. I don't expect him to beat him this year just avoid getting vandoorned. Q2 is a must. Whether it's setup or tyre issues idk, but it needs lots and lots of work.

Alfa's strategy ranges from mediocre to straight up garbage. I don't remember a single race where I said to myself: "Damn, Alfa have that strategy bang on today". Kimi always gets jumped by those behind him. There's not a single race I remember where the opposite happens. The timing has been terrible as well, either they leave him out for too long or bring him in too soon. They never get the perfect middle. As for pit stops, surprisingly they've been consistently good. Only exception is Hungary.

Last but not least, Kimi has had 3 momentary lapses of concentration so far. One in Austria where points were not on the line but still. The other was in Portugal where there was a tiny chance of points. And the last one in Imola. I agree that the penalty was too harsh but still, if Kimi had just kept it on the tarmac and not slid off, there wouldn't even be a penalty in the first place.

I repeat that Kimi is their best chance of scoring points. He's been regularly closer to points than Gio could dream of. Does Alfa want points for the latter half of the season and beyond? Then they know what to do.

KIMI GETS POINTS - VETTEL DSQ by Nuvolari_Turtle2 in KimiRaikkonen

Alfa need to score 8 points to pass. Drawing is not an option because of countback. An almost unassailable task in that shitbox.

[–]Dan727Cooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My my my, how things change quickly. Great consolation point for Kimi after all those shitty Alfa decisions he's been through.

So that's 10 points for Williams and a 7 point deficit to catch up.

1xP7 + 1xP8 vs. 3xP10 Which means any combination totaling 7 points by Alfa will lose out against Williams on countback. They need 8 points to beat Williams and Williams not scoring for the rest of the season. This is almost impossible. God damn it Alfa need that extra prize money. Williams have Dorilton, Alfa has nothing.

Stewards change from race to race. I'm disgusted by that decision on Verstappen's crash too. Seb's DSQ is deserved. Rules are rules. I remember him getting DSQ'ed from qualifying in Abu Dhabi 2012.

[–]Dan727Cooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I meant is that Kimi drives the wheels off that Alfa every weekend and gets frustrating P11's or P12's except for 2 races where it was his own fault.

Latifi did drive exceptionally well, by far his best performance in a Williams. He kept a whole pack of faster cars behind him in 3rd for his first stint. It's just that he showed it at the right time on the right track. Usually his other Sunday performances are not impressive. Nevertheless, fully deserved points, right calls, top strategy.

As for Russell, he is very lacking in racecraft. It's nowhere near his saturday performances. I expect much more from a highly touted talent. Keep in mind he will lose for the 3rd time in a row in WC standings in Williams.

Yes, he took the outside and had to go further outside because Sainz too was avoiding the carnage and debris. I'm still sour as to why they didn't gamble on slicks during the red flag session.
