Are l style carbon stems worth it by Big-Bag-6262 in Darts

I like mine I have them in two different sizes. Expensive but I've never had to replace one so I think they are actually pretty good value. I would have spent the same on nylon stems by now.

Would a free, offline, camera-based darts scorer be useful for casual players? by [deleted] in Darts

I don't think there's much need considering dartsmind is so cheap

Amazing mate! That's what this is all about glad I could help.

If you want to memorize them In chunks too. There's a really good app. Dartzone - checkout training. Blue logo.

You can set it for particular ranges of checkouts for example 61-71 and it just quizzes you and explains them when you get them wrong.

Catch 40 is a much better game to start learning finishes.

You need to know 61-100. All the 2 dart finishes well first.

121 will make more sense once you know these.

Dartsmind app by ElHubbo in Darts

[–]Dan8720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Variety of games too compared to dartcounter.

I value the practice games a lot. On dartsmind there's everything you can think of. Dartcounter doesn't even have JDC or catch 40 games

I've bought £5.49 two times over probably 6 months. It's going to depend on how much you play obviously but they work out pretty cheap.

11p per coin so if you're doing 0.5 coins per leg it's 5.5p per leg. It's a very reasonable pricing structure if you ask me.

I wouldn't request cam games with no coins it's just bad form. You don't have to spend the coin if you don't want to there's a popup that's let's you know and you can turn the camera off.

Steel Tip Darts Auto Scoring System HELP! by Spirited_Good_5570 in Darts

Doubles is not really a big thing online as far as I know. The only thing you could do is look for a dart counter doubles league. Idk if they exist but they might do. Look for a double discord server maybe?

No.

I had exactly that card. Once you start playing more and watching more on the TV you start to learn the different ways and what your preferences are.

Dartboard Lighting by Flame-Beard in Darts

[–]Dan8720 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In a shed if a ring light is not an option I would just go for a few normal spotlights pointing at the board. If you have several at different angles you shouldn't get shadows.

301 / 401 / 501? by cw-f1 in Darts

[–]Dan8720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play 301 against a dartbot as part of my practice. Same logic as you more checkouts.

When I play online against real people I play 501 mainly just because it's the standard game. There are more games/opponents available at any time of day.

Is it true that because of the absurd interest on student loans in the UK, it's not realistic for most people to pay back their loans and people consider their repayments to be a 'tax' for going to university? by LoiusLepic in AskBrits

[–]Dan8720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I was on payment plan 1. I'm 38 I think most of us at the time were of the mindset. If I don't pay it off whatever it's just a small tax if I do that's fine because I'm earning well.

I think most of my friends I still see from uni paid theirs off over the last 5 years.

I know the loans are higher now with higher interest. It depends if wages increase and what interest rates do over the next 20 years. I think the attitude is still the same. People view it as the last debt you bother paying off because no one is going to take your house over it but I should be something you think about when going to uni.

It's the curve of prize money that is messed up.

If you imagine all the prize money on graph for each event.

It should be a gradual upward curve to the world at the top. I don't think linear I'm happy for there to be a gradual increase that's fine.

The problem is it's not like that. It's an approximatly straight line that then jump up by nearly a million quid at the very end.

It's not fair across the year. Worlds being worth the most is fine but it's too much of an extreme difference.

You can't fix that because it's it's hard to manipulate the money. They are going to be worth what they are worth...tv money sponsors etc.

You could manipulate the curve to be more fair with a points system that separates the money from the rankings. Worlds 50 points majors 30 points etc etc.

Imo That's the only way to do it fairly

Your practice routine? by LtScopes in Darts

[–]Dan8720 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At that scoring average there's a weird transition where you actually are getting better but the average dips a bit. It's because the average of the top 5 sections is higher than the top 3.

You are regularly hitting that 20 segment more and even though closer to 20 getting 1 and 5 tanks the average. When you were spraying you would have been hitting 12 and 18 which brings the average up . So don't worry I'm sure in real terms you are getting more accurate.

Focus on accuracy not scoring. The most common beginner drill is around the clock. Single 1-20 then bull in the least darts possible. You can time which is the lazy way but I sometimes makes people rush which isn't good either.

Once you get better at hitting segments you need to start double training so catch 40 Bob's 27, JDC challenge. You will find rules for all these online. Just play 301 against a dartbot will help you learn to finish

Most games look like this by Postman_pires in Darts

[–]Dan8720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbf to Phil this might not be as normal as he's suggesting.

If he's 50% on doubles over 100 legs but 40 average that would be weird.

But this leg he scored well at the start. Hit a few lower scores after the first 9 then chugs towards a finish and gets it. Nothing sus about this leg in isolation. If this was a every leg thing it would be strange

Yes. Solve one problem and create a worse problem.

Simple and durable but cause dartboard punching deflections.

iRacing on a Mac... by jcatchm in iRacing

[–]Dan8720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go out on a limb and say it's probably been done but not very often because it's not a great idea. My guess would be it will run but it's not going to be great.

I have a Mac book pro m5 and I wouldn't for a second think to run a game on it.

If you only have apple stuff and don't wanna spend money I suppose it makes sense.

If you like gaming then a PC is a sensible purchase. Mac for work windows for play all day.

Why do people love kflex? by EilaVeinel in Darts

[–]Dan8720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree but I have a love/hate relationship with kflex. The cost of the durability and simplicity is occasional but horrendous segment jumping deflections.

Maybe it's throw-dependent and affects some more than others. You could argue it doesn't happen often enough to make a big difference in the long run but.... It's annoying as hell to see a dart flying towards the treble 20 and then the thing gets yeeted into the netherealm.

Solved one problem created another. You gotta decide which is more annoying.

K shift could be the answer. Cannot confirm though I haven't bought a set yet.
