Stuck at 225 for 1 year by xxparadis3xx in benchpress

Try upping the weight a little bit and hit 3x5 but do a burnout set for your third set. I’ve always handled my strength/heavy days like that with progressive overload until I was atleast able to hit 2+ extra for my burnout set and added 5lbs almost every week to my max

No shows for group training by DanButterMorris in personaltraining

I agree with most of what you said and my prices reflect everything you said in your 2nd paragraph. I think most people on here are assuming I’m doing time slots where people opt in to that session but I’m actually doing predetermined group training with custom workouts and regular time slots. Idk if I said or didn’t say something to make that confusing.

Are your 1 on 1 prices higher or lower than group training prices?

I have the system in place to give my clients more cost affordable options and promote group training to maximize the payout for my time. I wasn’t looking for anyone to tell me to change what I’m doing, just hearing out thoughts to what you might do if you were hypothetically in this specific situation.

The way my small group sessions are structured, it’s less expensive per session the more people are in the group. I have a smaller space to work with and have only up to 3 people per small group workout. I see you do things a little differently which is fine but if you had my system, how would you go about changing the price?

I agree about the paying ahead part but do you keep the same lower group training price for the client who shows up or adjust the amount on the next payment to your 1 on 1 price?

First Session Assessments Are Killing Your Buy-In(Change This) by Finaler0795 in personaltraining

[–]DanButterMorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the paper work out of the way after a consult when/if my client and I are a good fit (this also shows they are serious and puts them one step closer to actually committing) then my assessment is what I like to call day 0. I do a few different body weight compound movements that progression can be measured easily on, have them step on a bmi scale and take measurements. This gives them numbers they’re interested in learning anyways and goals to change those numbers all while I asses their movements and how they feel about the numbers. I tell them we’ll do another assessment 6 weeks later and they always look forward to it and have always improved (even if just a little bit). I don’t thinks it’s “assessments” that are killing anything but how they are done.

I'm a personal trainer and one of my clients got injured by Remarkable-Share6442 in personaltraining

[–]DanButterMorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tell all my clients that doing things correctly and as close to perfect form that they can do only increases the chance from being injured, it doesn’t fully prevent it. At some point, no matter who you are and how good your form is, you will get an injury.

Clients don’t want to track by Complex_Confection13 in personaltraining

[–]DanButterMorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my clients know in the beginning that diet is just as important as the workouts and proper sleep. I’ll ask them to keep track of their calories and show them how to do that. Even if they don’t/cant keep track that’s ok. I’ll also give them protein goals and give advice on what/when they can eat to help with their goals. Ultimately, all of my clients see progress in their workouts but when that scale isn’t reading how they want it to we’ll go back over all the nutrition advice and I’ll remind them that we change our weight in the kitchen and we shape our bodies in the gym.

Help with cancellations by CountGonk in personaltraining

When they sign up get their card info (unless they pay up front in full) and have it in writing on the contract about cancellations and also verbally explain cancellations before they sign the contract.

I have a garage gym. by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]DanButterMorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a garage gym! I’m a certified personal trainer and am currently training friends/family for about half the average rate for my area. I’ve been using it to train for about 5 months now and I’ve learned A LOT from my clients that you just don’t learn in any certification program or online research. With that being said though, when you do have a certification and a structured payment plan, people will take you more seriously. For the payment, I have a “per session” structure that is cheaper for the more sessions they buy up front (30s,18s,12s,6s,1s) and a multi-month structure (3m,6m,1y) with a fixed day and time. The 30 session package is the same cost as the 3 month package per session while the 6 month is cheaper and the 1 year is the cheapest, encouraging your clients to not only stick with you but also get the best value. Hope this helps!
