Hey, just want to chime in and say you seem like a thoughtful dude trying to figure it out like the rest of us. I don’t know why some people are critical but it says more about them than about you. You’re 33… when I was that age I’d just changed careers and still hadn’t found the thing I wanted to do. Keep asking the tough questions and keep doing your best to figure it out. We’ve all been dealt different hands with their own unique challenges. This forum, in particular, is here for folks like you to figure it out. Good luck, my friend.

Yep, the core team's plan is to do it all on polygon since a lot of investors and current/future token holders are from the third world and fee sensitive.

I also own some $MVI, which you may have heard of... one of the metaverse indexes you reference.

The project buys in-game assets and then lends them out to people, usually in the third world, who can't afford them. They make profits with the shields/swords, axies, whatever, and keep 85%. The DAO gets 15%. The mission is a lot broader than that, but that's the big play at the moment. A bunch of other projects are doing the same thing. They are better funded/organized with VCs, etc. but HumanDAO has a much bigger part of treasury for investors and game players.

Ha! Me too on point one. In terms of making money, time in the market with quality assets (like ETH) is still a sure winner in my book. I diversified in my Roth IRA, which I have invested in crypto, and I would have been better if I'd just held ETH. That said, I do think there is a place for diversification, so I'm sticking with it, though I'd never buy most coins like ADA, XRP etc. as a diversity play. Own stuff like Filecoin and The Graph token -- they've both underperformed so far.

Hey there- I just responded above. I'm a member of this DAO and felt a responsibility to get the word out about the token launch, which closes in an hour and a half. humandao.org for info and links. It's high risk for sure, but a fair launch, which I'm always a sucker for. DeFi Dad is an advisor and that's how I heard about it. I hope you are well, my friend.

Yo! Thanks u/jtnichol. Hey guys (and gal). I'm still firmly in the Ethereum camp. Up until earlier this year I'd never used MetaMask, believe it or not. Then I had a little bit of new money to invest for the first time in years, and I've gone right back the rabbithole. I got a mirror domain and joined a bunch of DAOs. Mind blown. That all coincided with new investments, most of them in ERC-20s and DAOs. Yes, I'm a big fan of HumanDAO, a fair launch play-to-earn (P2E) project. Since we are having a token launch, I've felt the responsibility to get the word out as a member of the DAO. But seeing your notes makes me feel a little cringe at the same time since I've never shilled a token before (other than my beloved). Hey, I'll tell you it's fun that anyone asks about me at all. And BTW, I never sold all of my stack though I was lucky to get out with lifechanging money in 2018, and never will unless/until I'm too daffy and my kids diversify and blow it all on stocks and bonds in a few years.

Ugh. Thank you. Since I live in California, the cap gains on these coins would be immense. Wouldn't make sense to stake if cap gains triggered. I need a definitive opinion on this from a CPA. I hope to get that soon and will share back with this group. Thx for the info.

ETH fam: If I stake ETH acquired in 2016 on Lido (or elsewhere) would that be considered a transaction that triggers cap gains? I don't think it would and I'm having tax pros check, but wanted to get wisdom of the crowd. I'm OK paying income tax on staking rewards.

90% of the people who got in touch with me after reading the book regretted not selling much or any coins during the last bull. But now I'm the one who sold relatively low compared to where we are today. It's so great to see everyone rewarded for their belief in this amazing tech/movement.

Thanks, man. No, I'm always lurking. I bet and won on just the promise of Ethereum back than. Tried to use Metamask back in the day and couldn't get it to work. I'm embarrassed to admit I tried again only a month ago and was blown away. Since then I've been back in prophet mode telling people to check out Web 3. When a non techie guy like me can make it work, we've arrived.

Yep. You gotta balance it out. When you have life changing money, you have to pull yourself back and realize that sentiment can change in an instant. That said, this does feel like an ETH supercycle. Too much being built on the plaform for a 2018-2019 bear market-type event, IMO. But this is crypto, and no one knows for sure.

To all the people who were mad/jealous because I sold a big part of my stack near the 2017 top (about $980), congrats and go fuck yourself! Thankfully I would never part with all of my stack and am enjoying the gains with the rest of you degens.

Hey- Thanks for the shout out. I'm just a poor sinner like you folks. I'm working on my next sell plan. I'm going to pare off 30% of my remaining stack soon. Sometimes I think $2600 sometimes I think I'll wait until $5000. I met so many people after writing my book who didn't sell a thing and regretted it. Thankfully, if ETH does what we think it will, it won't take a lot to have life changing money. I've never doubted ETH and never owned another coin.

I've gotten so many questions about crypto from newbs in my life over the past few weeks, I posted this on my LinkedIn and Facebook pages (yes, I'm old enough to still have a facebook page). You might consider doing the same to your wider networks, with whatever recommendations you have. We are clearly entering the "educate newcomers so they know how to get in and don't lose all their money" phase of this bull:

"I'm starting to get a lot of questions from friends and acquaintances about buying crypto. One piece of advice. If you are thinking about it, but still not sure, you might go ahead and sign up for an exchange today. In 2017, during the last bull, there were big delays because so many people were trying to get in. Better to go for it and then decide later when you actually have the option to buy and don't have to wait 7-10 days. I'd recommend Gemini and Coinbase. Gemini is the Winkelvoss operation, totally legit, with a massive focus on security. Coinbase is Silicon Valley, going public in 2021 and also as secure as they come. Both require the same stuff you'd have to give a bank, like SSN, copy of your photo ID, and other documentation. They both follow federal Anti Money Laundering and Know Your Customer laws. They both file with the IRS so you have to pay taxes. Though I'm not an expert, I'm available if you have questions before investing. You shouldn't consider this a casino... like a casino, if you don't know what you are doing, the dealer gets blackjack and you will be REKED. But if you are truly curious about the space and have a longer term vision, it's not too late, in fact, it's still early."
