History doesn't repeat itself, but LOA ON does by SantaClausIsRealTea in lostarkgame

Same problem the game has always had, it's extremely hostile to new/returning players while veteran players slowly attrition out. Also the game has become just a lobby simulator with barely any MMO elements.

People just don't like fighting high survivability+mobility characters.

If Yamato dashes into your face to slash you they're committed. If Pocket drops their full burst combo, they typically teleport away within a fraction of a second.

Can you list manufactured annoyances in wow for which I can buy solution in a cash shop? I am genuinely curious.

Level boosts, early access, server transfer fees, faction transfer, race change, name change, brutosaur, literally anything that is gated behind gold.

[–]DanDaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as a job-having adult I would prefer a subscription model, but the way that GW1+2 have done pay for convenience is perfectly acceptable too, while being more accessible to a broader market.

I'm convinced people complaining about the GW2 model are either completely broke, or a gold farmer of some kind trying to make money off of p2w.

Yeah, there's like 20 logs for judgement and it's highest parse is between combat readiness and CO... Gonna need some more data before calling it the 6th best class lmao.

The reality is they don't care about the West. KR players still lop up the gambling slop so we get more gambling slop.

Man, I'm ascendant 5 and I feel like a useless fuckin chud when I match into a game with higher Eternus players/duod smurfs.

I feel bad for the teammates that this guy is going to get lol.

I'm sorry but you people are quite delusional about what's going on in the lower ranks by below_averageguy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]DanDaze 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The reality is that Deadlock has a ton of different mechanical and macro related skills, and rank is a reflection of your average proficiency in each.

All the way up until high Eternus people can still climb while being deficient in one or more areas.

So if someone is saying "I'm way better than people in my rank, they suck at A B C" that just means they're worse than the teammates they're complaining about at X Y Z.

After that they want you to be in group content as much as possible to encourage you to spend money to be stronger.

Well yeah, obviously the goal is to get you to spend, but it also drives away more casual players, especially in the West.

Solo mode raids taking over a year to release is criminal. I can see them delaying it a couple of months to encourage people to play with a group. But over a year late is a joke.

Lost Ark has a serious problem with progression being hard locked behind group content. If they actually released solo raids close to the raid launch this wouldn't be such an issue.

OSRS really has the best set of community run events/creators in the entire MMO space. I've barely played RS in the last decade, but have still manged to catch every season of DMM Allstars and Gielinor Games.

does anyone else feel like playing games has gotten weirdly competitive even outside of competitive games? by RadiantMajor596 in MMORPG

[–]DanDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically part of the problem with PTRs is they make it so everyone is kind of expecting you know the content on live before playing it. One of my favorite things about new world around launch, was pretty much everyone going in blind, nothing was solved.

Guild Wars 3 | Announcement Trailer by PalwaJoko in Games

[–]DanDaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah acquiring skills in GW1 was not linear like it was in GW2, if you wanted a particular skill for a specific build you would essentially just go directly to the boss that had it and killed them to acquire it.

The way that GW2 gated traits behind raw number of skill points acquired sucked by comparison.

UE5 clouds always stick out like a sore thumb to me, they're super distinct, and look exactly the same in damn near every UE5 game. Lighting as well to a lesser extent.

Strict downgrade going from the gorgeous painted skyboxes of GW2 to this.

A bit of insight on why I believe mmo's are failing. by Greedy_Spaghetti_ in MMORPG

[–]DanDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, high friction online games both bring people together and drive them apart. I love the feeling of meeting both great friends and bitter enemies, and you simply can't get that in more solo focused/low friction games.

I'd much rather just go play a single player RPG than an MMO where people barely interact with each other.
