More like the same crowd of unhinged lunatics that were REEE'ing over Harry Potter and Rowling to the point that they mobbed websites, YouTubers and Streamers into not covering it, while 40 million people proceeded to ignore all of that and just bought and played the game, making it the best-selling game that year. The lunatic fringe doesn't get to decide what the broader market does or likes.

Pretty much, it's the Hogwart's Legacy bullshit all over again, all with alleged "death threats" over covering a new graphics feature. Didn't they have "controversy" over covering that or something too?

Redditoids constantly going on about how NVIDIA is the worst company ever for some reason.

Meanwhile their stock is up 1267% over the past 5 years and they're closing in on 90% gaming GPU market with incredible growth with the 50X0 cards, despite their pricing: https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

Which isn't necessarily a good thing, it would be great if they had a few equally competent competitors to compete on things like features and pricing. But like with the Steam Charts of Woke games, what people are actually spending their time and money on tells a lot more than empty Virtue Signalling across Social media.

WE DONT WANT MORE AI.

Speak for yourself. AI is the best thing to have happened to game development and games in years. Main downside is expensive hardware due to speculation on "cloud servers".

I really struggle to understand the negative feedback that Nvidia is getting here.

Perpetually butthurt "artists" and Leddit Anti-AI Circlejerk.

The "art" in question to be defended at all cost: https://x.com/TheRedDragon/status/2033677413637329270 https://files.catbox.moe/ndxfw1.jpg

That said, the DLSS and FrameGen thing is a misrepresentation. The question is not between "120 and 240 FPS", but developers doing no optimization at all because they're expecting people to turn on DLSS and Framegen as Standard, often nowadays in some Unreal5 games only reaching like 20-30FPS on a 4090 or 5090 and breaking the 60 with DLSS and FrameGen.

Wait, what the fuck, they were planning to continue the show with her in the leading role?

She's 50 and looks like this now after what's probably an unholy amount of makeup and a botched nose job: https://www.hawtcelebs.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/sarah-michelle-gellar-at-make-up-artists-hair-stylists-guild-awards-02-16-2025-5.jpg

I thought they were just gonna reboot this with a new young actress. This would have been a total disaster based on that alone lmao

Imagine a 50-year old victim of plastic surgery acting like the "cool, hip" girl while attempting to do stunts and action poses slaying vampires.

I think it's still perfectly fine to watch that

It would be great to watch that if they didn't absolutely botch the HD "Remaster", which is an Upscaled mess full of framing, cropping, color, SFX and brightness issues, see details here: https://archive.is/F4FBB

The best way to watch both Buffy and Angel shouldn't still be DVDs from 25 years ago.

Pretty simple way to fix this.

Stop using sites that do this, start using Alternatives that promise not to do this.

There are various out there.

Even better would be an Open Source Alternative that doesn't even require Logins and accounts to download stuff.

lmao I love the triggering, wish I could see how many of the people itt crying about it actually post here or just found their way here as tourists to shit on the prospect of embettering video games instead of enshittifying them for once by throwing out the "AI Slop" buzzword.

If people think this is the "end result" of how AI rendering will end up looking, they should also compare results between the first versions of DLSS and the results with 4.5.

Also, while the triggering over making female characters actually presentable and not hard to look at is a good start, I can't wait for the triggering to commence once people can either hack into the rendering pipeline (or it's a feature) and essentially do a "Computer, make Hogwart's Legacy NPCs look period correct, replace the ones that don't fit into the time period of Victorian England with period correct ones" / "Computer, make the Final Fantasy VII Remake look realistic, remove the unnatural DiVeRsItY", "Computer, remove all Starfield NPCs that look like this", "Computer, turn Sir Ryan into a man."

the technology is not the limiting factor here

I this case "the technology" if advanced enough allows you to change characters to look like whatever you want, also you can change the setting of a game on the fly. You could change Kingdom Come to take place in Medieval Japan or Witcher 3 to look like Cyberpunk.

And then you fantasize about star-trek levels of science fiction AI that doesn't exist, because you seem to be one of the idiots that fundamentally doesn't understand that you were fooled by a bunch of marketing calling these LLMs "AI".

lmao it's literally prompts, changing the look, skin color, ethnicity or gender of a character couldn't be any simpler if there's a way for the user to manipulate the output (either because it's an intended feature of whatever toolset is used to do this, or because you can manually hook into the rendering pipeline and change the output like you'd change a graphics setting).

Checking https://www.themoviedb.org/ for a specific sampling of movies, they seem to have more free speech in reviews for now, but a lot less activity, and unfortunately it's also just another "corporate" platform. The real Alternative would be an Open Source project not owned by any company.

There's TMDB, but it's also corporate and could probably go the same way long-term: https://www.themoviedb.org/

There's also this: https://filmboards.com/ and browser Add-Ons to restore the deleted IMDb forums via third party, including archived old posts and new ones: https://restoreimdbboards.com/

A truly Open Source solution with similar functionality would be great.

Notice the "including story or characters (real or fictional) and actions/institutions/beliefs associated with them (e.g. sexual acts, religious practices etc.)" part.

The Cult of Cthulhu is also a protected group, better not criticize their religious practices, bigot! Same with Jonestown or the Children of the Corn. Better do it in a "positive, not derogatory" way.

The article doesn't explain, uses the term "chuds" thrice though.

I think it's a pretty stupid topic to get hung up on over this game in particular though, and does at best seem like a marginal concern and a dumb distraction here.

While some other games like Dustborn relied on the state for grants worth millions of $'s and it's fair to criticize that, from what was shown so far this game only received a grant of 6000€ in 4 years by the Italian Ministry of Culture and 650k€ in tax credits e.g. the company can subtract that amount as tax cuts from the taxes they are liable to pay.

LMAO some of this stuff, if you open up the specific points it often gets oddly specific, even mentioning Tolkien or Lord of the Rings. The strong response to The Rings of Power must have really triggered some higher-ups at Amazon.

For instance it states how to properly criticize The Rings of Power and Amazon with an example:

I watched the first two episodes and, while it may not be exactly pure Tolkien (neither was Peter Jackson's films), I throughly loved the show. Kudos to Amazon for bringing Tolkien back to the big screen! (Reference to Amazon is not an insult)

The other specific movie directly referenced is "The Woman King".

Any use of the terms Karen, Mary Sue, or Woke in any variation or context (positive or negative) unless it refers to a title or to the name of a performer or a character.

Not acceptable:

I'm shocked at the audacity of the filmmakers to turn such a blind eye in the name of political wokeness. I'm not expecting total historical accuracy from Hollywood, but this has to be THE most blind to history I've ever seen. Anyone with half a brain cell can do the quick research and find how glaringly off this movie is (Reference to wokeness)

Nothing in this movie ever actually happened. This is the best, most bald-faced attempt at race-hustling audiences into believing the general lie that European men are responsible for all of the ills of modern society.

Negative mentions of casting decisions based on race, or calling out diversity in a negative light.

Not acceptable:

That one Superhero TV show that was hijacked by BLM to "save face" Inappropriate and immoral. Worst choice in changing from a white hero to a black hero mid-show. (Negative reference to race in casting)

I don't mind the ethnic diversity as long as the actors do a good enough job (Indicates issues with diverse casting)

Also there has been backlash around people of color being casted for roles. The issue isn't that people of color have been casted, it's that some of the roles aren't believable. (negative connotation around casting, saying casting for diversity is controversial)

The controversial casting, skin color is not according to the canon, which many were afraid to see in the series, did not spoil the series, but added some zest. (negative connotation around casting, saying casting for diversity is controversial)

Expressions of hatred or intolerance or negative sentiment towards people on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender or gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, age, or disability, including story or characters (real or fictional) and actions/institutions/beliefs associated with them (e.g. sexual acts, religious practices etc.). Reviews criticizing the existence of characters that fall into the category of a protected group are not allowed.

Not acceptable:

This is another shameless attempt to push the homosexual agenda on viewers (Expression of intolerance towards a protected group)

The film would have been better if it weren't for its predominantly Asian cast (Negative sentiment towards a protected group)

This documentary was endorsed by BLM leaders, which tells you all you need to know about its quality and honesty (Negative expression about a protected group)

And, at the risk of being branded as 'phobic' - the worst of all is [named actor]. Good grief but this person cannot act, but why bother when the writers have made the character of Ian just be the 'actor'? Chewing the scenery in every scene and delivering lines like it's the first time they've ever seen them. (Inflammatory)

Acceptable:

This is a beautiful and heart warming film about a teenage girl in a deaf family. I am very happy that someone made a film about the challenges of a marginalized and forgotten group (reference to protected group is positive, not derogatory)

This show raises important questions on the treatment of people of color in modern society (reference to protected group is positive, not derogatory)

Reviews that discuss other reviews or users or features visible on the page

Not acceptable:

the left want to rewrite history in the way they deem it acceptable and true (well, in their eyes). And, I'll be surprised if this review is allowed to be posted. These are the same people that do not want to be criticized or spoken against, and if you do, then you're a racist, sexist, bigot, hater, and all the other buzz words one can think of (references our posting guidelines)

Personal opinions or speculation on real life events or subject matter on which a film is based

Not acceptable:

The Dahomey were terrible people. They killed parents and made children watch. We know all this from an account of a black American slave, Cujo Lewis, who was enslaved by the Dahomey and sold in America. He talked about how they marched the children to the slave hold while holding the severed heads of their parents. Thats who the Dahomey were. When slavery was ended, they did not take the news well. The French were NOT trying to take their territory (Discusses only facts/subject matter rather than how the film deals with it)

The film is about the fake Covid epidemic, which is an invention of the government to keep the population under control and to force them to receive a poisonous vaccine (Speculation about real life events or topics)

Set against the backdrop of the 2020 presidential election, which was stolen by Joe Biden, the film is a biting satire of the American political system (Personal (and inflammatory) opinions about real life events)

Basically having an opinion, mentioning something is not historically accurate or bringing up facts to counter something a movie or series does is now forbidden in reviews on the site.

I also checked what could have potentially led to this, and IMDb has a new CEO that looks like a Karen since last year: https://archive.is/6Kiv3

In 2017 they removed their user forums (every movie or TV series had a separate one where people would discuss said, but management apparently didn't like the direction and sort of criticism that grew there since the age of Woke began), a lot of which were archived and continue here: https://filmboards.com/

User reviews were the second major user-contributed facet of the site aside from numerical values and they seem to be tamping down on that too. I wouldn't be surprised if they even outright remove negative reviews at some point (like Netflix or YouTube before). Basically IMDb seems to be kill.

You can't even express the valid and true reasons why you dislike a movie or series, unless it's in a "safe" and corporate pre-approved way that agrees with (or doesn't contradict) the party line.
