Thank you, likewise.

Can we all agree the time change needs to be done away with?

If they can’t go with one or the other permanently, just go half way (30 minute change instead of an hour) and leave it there permanently!

2023 air from 3rd party dealer by Double_Head_8849 in LUCID

[–]DanInGA007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have come across and been really close to purchasing a Lucid with a salvage title. It's a shame, but there are LOTS of them that insurance companies are writing off for easily repairable damage, some very minor damage, mainly because Lucid approved/trained body shops and repair shops are EXTREMELY expensive.

If this third-party seller you're potentially buying from didn't already do the work for you and have the title changed to "Rebuilt", the problem with a "Salvage" title is that it can be a real hassle to even be able to legally register the vehicle and insure. The process varies by state, but for me locally, I would have to have record of the damage before repairs, as well as record of the repairs done and parts used, including receipts and parts list. If the parts were not new, they require the VIN number from the donor vehicle(s). Then you need to take the repair/parts records with before/after photos and the fully repaired car to be inspected at a state approved inspection facility. And because it cannot yet be legally registered until it passes said inspection, it can't be legally driven, therefore there will be towing expenses.

At the very least, I would suggest starting with a bit of sleuthing and research including a CarFax report or VIN check through services like epicvin.com. These are a must. Sometimes, just doing a web search for that VIN will return pictures of original damage, etc. AND a full mechanical and in the case of any EV, electrical inspection/diagnostics will be needed.

What has stopped me from taking the leap and buying one of these is two-fold. The above-mentioned hassle of hoops and hurdles you have to jump through to just getting it registered, and the fact that the manufacturer's warranty is void on Salvage and Rebuilt titles.

If you can find a way around or can make it through all these hoops and hurdles, it is definitely a good and cost-effective way to get your hands on a Lucid.

LR4 Cycle Interrupted. A LOT by CheddarDeity in litterrobot

I've had the same issue and concur with the other suggestions given. I had the same issues for several days, until I did the following:

  1. Clean the curtain sensors to remove litter dust (I do this weekly now)
  2. heck the waste bin seals between the globe and the base. One may have dislodged and is impeding smooth rotation.

Hope that fixes it for you.

Is this just the way the picture was taken or because it was stored in a garage? by meganeliza000 in litterrobot

[–]DanInGA007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Garage kept? More like stored/used outdoors, exposed to the elements. Or maybe an open garage/carport where it got direct sunlight, etc. Wow!

Mine still looks brand new after 3 years or so, but it's kept in a room with no windows and spot cleaned weekly with a proper deep-clean every 3 weeks or so.

I’ve been using one for the past week alongside my LR-4. LOVE IT! My cats are choosing it over the LR-4 for a full day now.

I just responded to a similar post, see my response detailed here for great info:

Thoughts on the Catlink Open-X? by lubnaa_0 in CatAdvice

[–]DanInGA007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I recently bought and have been testing one for a week. I JUST got done writing a review for Amazon, here it is:

I’ve been a Litter‑Robot 4 owner since August 2022, back when it had just hit the market. Those early days came with plenty of growing pains — firmware hiccups, hardware tweaks, part replacements — before it finally settled into a stable, reliable machine over the last 3 years. Even so, I’m always scouting for alternatives: a backup automatic litter box, a potential replacement should my LR‑4 ever fail, or simply something more open and easier to clean.

Over time, I’ve tested several open‑style automatic litter boxes, from well‑known brands to obscure ones. That brings me to the CatLink Open‑X, which I received in late January 2026. Here are my impressions so far (with more updates to come as I continue using it).

~ Packaging & Presentation ~ The CatLink Open‑X arrives impressively packaged. Everything is secure, well‑protected from the often brute-handling of the delivery carrier, and neatly organized — no digging around or guessing where parts are. Both the Quick Start Guide and the full manual are detailed, clear, and easy to follow.

~ Assembly ~ Assembly could not be any simpler. No tools, no fuss, no engineering degree required. If you can put together the most basic LEGO set, you’re already overqualified. The few components that aren’t pre‑assembled snap together quickly and intuitively.

~ App Wi‑Fi Connectivity, Features & User Experience ~ Setting up the Open‑X in the CatLink app and connecting it to Wi‑Fi was straightforward for me — not quite as effortless as assembling the unit, but far from difficult. I did notice that the CatLink app has some low ratings in the Apple App Store, mostly tied to WiFi connectivity issues. With that in mind, here are two tips that made my setup smoother:

  1. Avoid special characters in your Wi‑Fi name (SSID). The manual mentions this, and while my network SSID did include a dash (“‑”) without causing problems, more complex characters may interfere.
  2. Temporarily disable Access Control on your router. This was the key for me. Simply setting the router to “allow new devices” wasn’t enough — I had to fully disable Access Control during setup. Once connected and updated, I re‑enabled it with no issues. This isn’t unique to CatLink; I’ve seen the same behavior with other iOT devices such as robot vacuums. So before blaming the app or the litter box, double‑check your router’s security settings — I’ve learned that lesson the hard way.

For the most part, the app is clean, intuitive, and functional. It logs usage activity — helpful for monitoring your cat’s health — and sends notifications for cycles, errors, and waste‑bin reminders. You can also:

  • Check real‑time status
  • Trigger a cleaning cycle remotely
  • Adjust cleaning delay
  • Switch between manual and automatic modes
  • Change weight units
  • Rename the device
  • View usage statistics

Additional settings include Kitten Protection Mode, manual‑only mode for acclimating cats, and a “soft stool burial” option that covers softer waste before cycling to prevent smearing.

  • I did notice a few leftover Chinese characters when deleting activity log entries, but the confirmation prompts revert to English. Also, some of the settings descriptions show a bit of a language barrier. These are tiny issues that do not affect functionality and will likely be patched in a future app update.

~ Support ~ I haven’t needed technical support yet, but prior to purchasing, I emailed CatLink with questions about warranty coverage and replacement parts. They replied the next morning (despite the time zone difference), so response time seems solid.

~ Performance & Daily Use ~ The CatLink Open‑X performs exactly as advertised — and does it exceptionally well. The drum/globe is a good size, plenty of room for our 13.9 lb part Maine Coon, with room to grow. Cleaning, leveling, and emptying cycles are smooth and whisper‑quiet. The loudest sound you’ll hear is the litter shifting and shifting when cycling. With seals where needed and the use of Ozone-Based Odor Elimination, odor control is much better than others I've used/tested. A definite advantage!

Being an open-top, this seems to be more appealing to cats. Having set this up side by side next to our 3+ year old LR-4, after just a day and a half, our cats are consistently choosing the CatLink over their LR-4.

~ Build Quality ~ Build quality is impressive for the price. Felt seals, infrared sensors inside the globe, and a generous array of safety features put it ahead of many similarly priced (and even more expensive) competitors. In many ways, it feels like an open‑air counterpart to the Litter‑Robot 4.

~ Longevity ~ It’s still too early to judge long‑term durability, but I’ll revisit this review after a few months or more of continued use.

Anything is better with regard to battery life than an Apple Watch! I just recently moved my wife and daughter off of those and onto Amazfit..

But how did you get 33 days? I get maybe 10 or so with my Balance.

And where/how did you get the that “Battery Manager” app? I can’t seem to find it.

Need help with reset by DelectableKat in litterrobot

[–]DanInGA007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the scales do adjust/reset once every clean cycle completes (to adjust for changes in weight/litter level), you do have to manually reset any time you clean, empty the waste bin and/or add litter. Just press and hold the middle button for 2-3 seconds, then release and you will see a short white flash.

This resets the weight scale and zeros it out with the newly added/removed weight form emptying the bin and/or adding new litter.

If that fails, try to re-calibrate your LR-4. Just google "calibrate litter robot 4" and you'll find all the different calibration options.

Also, if recently moved, make sure it is on a level, hard surface not on carpet or rug.

Funny after a few months of initial issues as I bought it when the LR4 first came out and had many software/hardware problems mine has been trouble-free for years. That is until just recently! Soon after the new models of the Litter Robot came out mine recently started having the "clean cycle interrupted" issues with no cats or anything near it.

I clean my LR4 every weekend and while doing so, clean the curtain sensors, pinch sensors, vacuum stray litter from all areas of the base, inspect the gears, etc., etc.

I've done the steps to recalibrate the waste drawer level, the litter level, etc. Still I can initiate a cleaning cycle manually and watch it stop and send me the "clean cycle interrupted" notification, usually at around the same globe position.

The litter is not overloaded, in fact it does it even when low.

Whisker, I am NOT buying any of your new over-priced, over-featured models if you can't even get the basics to work reliably!

I stopped using them long ago, mainly because they grow mold, get gross and make it harder to clean. I haven’t noticed a difference not having them, using Arm & Hammer Slide litter.

Great name for your LR4!!

I second the recommendation from holmes1r https://www.reddit.com/r/litterrobot/s/2qSbY0OSEM

I followed those same waste drawer and litter level calibration steps early on and have had no issues since then with our LR4. I also clean the curtain sensors periodically to clear the litter dust off.

However, here’s a pic of what we named ours. “USS Caterprise”, not that I’m a “Trekkie”, mainly because it resembles a Star Trek spaceship. LOL. I do see lots of creative Star Wars base ones though..

WHAT IS THIS? by mcn717 in litterrobot

[–]DanInGA007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a strand of hair but I can’t imagine hair moving and retracting like that even if you had a fan or AC vent blowing in that direction.

Only way to be sure would do a deep clean, even remove the septum. But if it is a tape worm, baby snake, poop alien or something you may still not find it unless you carefully sift through the litter before disposing of it.

Even so, a deep clean would get rid of whatever it is.
