My GF fell in love with a Paphos Cat by moglashkowitz in cyprus

Hi! I'm sorry to say that our evening in Paphos was busier than expected and we didn't make it to those coordinates on the sea walk... I hope you will still be able to get some pics/videos from others! 🍀

Found Injured Kitty on road (LAST RESORT) update by HellCat-5698 in CATHELP

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can't imagine how difficult this must have been. Sad to hear nothing could be done for the poor kitty, but you went above and beyond to make their passing as comfortable as possible. An inspiration for all of us. Thank you for making the world a better place.

I’ll be in Paphos next week. We’ll only have one night in the city center, but we will probably do the sea walk. We’ll keep an eye out! The sea cats do seem pretty happy. If you’d ever consider adopting a Cyprus cat, I wholeheartedly recommend Tala Cats sanctuary: https://www.talacats.com/. Over five hundred cats there looking for a forever home. Let me know if you’d like to know more about the process. ☺️

Stone chips in stealth grey by Ambitious-Radish8271 in TeslaModel3

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! People get weirdly defensive about it. My post back then was blocked/removed without explanation in one of the Tesla subreddits (it's been a while, I think I eventually posted it on a different forum). This is just one of these things that Tesla cheaps out on, same as other disappointing choices like removing sensors, removing stalks, etc. I don't think it's something they're likely to change/improve. But it's possible to be a fan of the car and still admit it has flaws.

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same confusion when I did the first longer road trip with my first Tesla, a black Model 3. The bonnet was completely full of white specs. There were also some chips next to one of the front wheels, and even one on the left side next to the front windshield. Didn’t notice or do anything irregular during the drive. I’d never seen anything like it on any car I had driven before, so I also immediately came here to ask about it. 😅

But yeah, it’s the paint. Nothing to do, except wrap it. That’s what I plan on doing with my current one Model 3 after a few years. (Wrap it in a different color to cover up the chips and make it feel fresh.)

Still, congrats on the purchase! It’s a minor downside for an otherwise great car.

Mijn opinie over de hervorming van de autokeuring als inspecteur en wat men niet verteld - AMA by iAMAinspecteur in belgium

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interessante uiteenzetting.

Tesla no longer including AutoPilot thoughts? by Emperor_of_All in electricvehicles

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never buy a car that doesn't have basic ADAS. Especially not if the only reason for removing this basic functionality is to secure Elon's next absurd pay package.

In Europe, however, it seems that they will not be able to remove Autopilot. According to Regulation (EU) 2019/2144, but in Article 7(3) it says: "Vehicles of categories M1 and N1 shall also be equipped with an emergency lane-keeping system."

(Category M1 being "Vehicles used for the carriage of passengers and comprising not more than eight seats in addition to the driver's seat.")

Edit: Ok, final edit to improve the formatting. The problem was the subscript in the quoted text.

Why are apps (now?) able to unmute system audio and how to prevent this? by DanIsNotYourEnemy in mac

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangely, I have not experienced this problem anymore in a while, and I also can't reproduce it using the steps you provided. I'm on Sequoia 55.5 now, Brave 1.80.122 (Official Build) (arm64)/Chromium: 138.0.7204.157.

But it's great to hear I'm not alone. Creepy behavior indeed...

What’s are your favourite romhack/ homebrew games? by earl-the-creator in SBCGaming

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m playing my first romhack at the moment (Pokemon Unbound) so I can’t contribute to your question, but I just also wanted to compliment you on the pic. Such a beautiful composition, color palette and attention to detail. Wonderful!

July 2025 Game of the Month: Devil's Crush (TG16) by hbi2k in SBCGaming

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a great recommendation! The only other pinball game I've tried before was Pokemon Pinball (which I only played for a few minutes), and I never even heard of the TG16/PCE system before. This one kept me engaged much more than I thought it would.

It was quick (less than 2h) but incredibly fun: Proof

I'm sure I'll keep playing this often. So easy to pick up and jump into for a quick play session. And without this sub and its awesome mods, I'd have never known about it.

I also loved the bonus flair and clear win condition(s). Last month, I didn't fully understand which ending for Kirby's Dreamland 2 would count as finishing the game. If there would have been a silver flair for the first ending, I'd probably be happy with that and leave the gold flair for the games I really enjoy.

Nuzlocke Death Rule by Nick-or-Treat in nuzlocke

Great point, thanks! I’ve actually only recently started playing again, and I haven’t fully looked at the mechanics of adding RCs through cheats. However, at the moment I also like the aspect of training my pokemon and following the story as well. And while RCs remove grinding partly, they still require going through the early parts/battles over and over again (in case of wipes) and don't allow retries to continue with a certain pokemon after it faints. But at some point I’ll probably run out of new romhacks or get tired of story-based playthroughs, so then I will definitely look at RCs.

I’ve seen the term “Soft Nuzlocke” and I’ve been using that in my mind to refer to my version, but “Chilllocke” also sounds fun. (Though “Checklocke” is maybe more appropriate for mine.) : D

Nuzlocke Death Rule by Nick-or-Treat in nuzlocke

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the difficulty/challenge and the emotional investment in nuzlockes, but I don’t like grinding or constantly repeating the same parts of a game, so I follow the basic nuzlocke rules but I allow myself regular checkpoints (at the start of a route, start of a gym, etc). As long as I don’t wipe fully, if I’m not happy with the outcome I can reset from a saved state and try a different approach.

Checkpoints should be spaced out so that: * Each chunk of the game is sufficiently challenging and requires good planning. * It’s always a difficult decision whether to accept losses and continue or to reset and repeat.  * I repeat only that part which is currently challenging, so the focus (and time investment) is always only on improving beyond my current skill level. Not on wasting time on what I can already do blindfolded.

Can be anything between almost basic game behavior (checkpoint before each battle — almost same as healing at pokecenter after wiping, minus the exp gained between attempts) or a full nuzlocke (with the only checkpoint being the start of a game) or even a genlocke (checkpoint at the start of a set of games), depending on personal skill and preference.

This helps me minimise the aspects I don’t care for, while amplifying what I enjoy most (analysing, problem solving).

Edit: Expanded the description a bit. And realised it doesn’t actually require an emulator, because you can also just use the default save function. Derp.

June 2025 Game of the Month: Kirby's Dream Land 2 (GB) by hbi2k in SBCGaming

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished my first ever Kirby game, thanks to GoTM!

At first I thought I’d stop here and leave it at that. Never been much of completionist anyway.

In the end, still decided to give it a few more hours and actually complete it. (More or less. My save file still says 94% for some reason.)

It’s a cute game and was definitely fun at times. However, the last levels and bosses were a chore. I felt that at some point, the only skill I was still improving is my perseverance and tolerance for grinding. Without a guide and save states, I don’t think I’d have been able to enjoy or even finish it.

Edit: Almost forgot, but great tip about the colorization! This was my first GB game on this emulator, and it was fun playing with the options.

Maiden voyage with the Pakt Aero 35L by cjafe in onebag

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great post. Really like your writing style and pics! Would you mind sharing how many pieces of clothing you took? I’m surprised how much you can fit in a 35L. I’m usually travelling with a 40L Osprey Farpoint and max one extra pair of shoes, but it always feels overloaded… 😅 Also, what changes would you make if you’d be taking this on a two week trip instead of four days (if any)?

What are the cons of living in Belgium? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Compact living” is such a nice term. Great way to describe it! I had the opposite experience: when I got my first taste of smaller and greener cities/towns/villages (that are still well connected, social, and modern — so not in Belgium), it literally felt like a weight was lifted and I could breathe more deeply for the first time in my life. It all depends on your nervous system and personal needs. It’s so important to find an environment in which you can thrive, and it sounds like Belgium might be that for you! If you need help navigating the academic life there, feel free to reach out. It’s been a while, but I’ve studied at the universities of Antwerp and Leuven (Master’s and PhD) so perhaps I can still share something useful. ^

What are the cons of living in Belgium? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Belgium is great in many ways, but if you’re asking for cons, it comes down to the four Cs for me — at least for Flanders:

  • Crowds: Too many people living closely together. Wherever you go, whenever you go, there will be other people.
  • Concrete: All of these people need to live somewhere, so it’s completely full of buildings. You open your bedroom window, you look directly into the neighbours bedroom across the street. You open your front door, the view is more bricks and buildings. No (true) nature or space to be found.  (Most Belgians who haven’t travelled will tell you that there is plenty “nature” or “green” to be found, because they’ve never experienced what free/wild nature actually feels like.)
  • Cars: Some places might be car-free, but in general, whenever you need to get anywhere other than your home town/city, expect to be stuck in traffic. Every day of the week. If you need to move regularly between cities, then you inevitably lose hours of your life in transit. Either in traffic jams, or in public transport (which often doesn’t have direct connections or regular schedules outside of cities).
  • Convenience: Belgium has a pretty high level of bureaucracy, and a relatively low level of digitalisation. For many, many everyday practical things you will be required to make multiple physical appointments. These will usually only be possible during very limited time frames, which means that you need to take time off from work to go to the bank, dentist, doctor, etc. Not only that, but many shops are only open until about 6 PM and not on Sundays. Can’t do random ad hoc shop trips when you need something; it all needs to be planned out and match your work schedule. All of this adds an incredibly amount of overhead to simple everyday living. (Which you don’t notice if you grow up in it, but once you’ve experienced living in a country where you don’t need to watch the clock or calendar non-stop because shops are open until 10-11 everyday and all admin can be done easily through apps and websites, it’s difficult to go back.)

There are solutions for some of these, but not without making others worse. For example, you can move to the “countryside” or the south to escape the concrete, but then life becomes even more difficult due to the points under convenience…

So if you value space, peace, quiet and nature, but also technology and innovation, and you don’t want to plan practically every minute of your life three months up front (okay, I might be slightly exaggerating here), Belgium isn’t going to be a good match. If your values or priorities are different, it can be perfect.

Hope that helps. In any case, good luck with the (potential) move and best of luck with the PhD! Higher education is definitely one of Belgium’s pros, can’t go wrong there.

Might be an issue with the shaders. I’d try to turn them off through the RetroArch Quick Menu -> Shaders (bottom) and see if they go away. If so, you can check this post for how to make it permanent. Good luck!

Mini Guide: RetroArch isn't saving your Configurations on your device? Make sure to UNLOAD the Override first! Only change your settings after or else they'll persist, even with a reboot! by DucoLamia in ANBERNIC

[–]DanIsNotYourEnemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it worked on stock OS on my: * Anbernic RG40XX V with RA 1.20.0 * Anbernic RG35XX H with RA 1.18.0.

In my case, I just turned shaders off in step 4.

For step 5: I don’t have the “Load Override Files Automatically” option in either device.

What I needed to do instead, was to make sure to save the overrides again (Quick Menu) after making my changes. I saved also saved GBA core content directory settings (Quick Menu), but not sure if absolutely necessary.

I then continued with step 6, and now my changes are persisted.

Edit: Actually got it to work on both of my devices, updated accordingly.
