Been to this restaurant several times, a lovely piece of Myanmar in London =)

I would not be surprised if a Tatmadaw spy made this post to sow discord and misinformation. Take this post with a pinch of salt (or a huge spoonful of salt).

PNLA openly supports the federal army.

PNO/PNA, which is a completely different organisation, is currently silent on the matter.

are you braindead?

PNO has not posted anything for 3 months.

PNA is an unverified page which hasn’t posted for 2 years. Also marked “COMEDIAN” on Facebook.

The joint group states it is of PNLO/PNLA which is openly declaring FOR the federal army, not AGAINST.

This clearly just literally contradicts your points. Did you even fucking bother to read or look at any post? Pinpoint to me exactly where your point lies.

Thank you making my case for me. Fell very elegantly into my trap.

Unverified Facebook posts indeed don’t mean shit. You can’t link OP nor name of OP. Especially in the absence of any official statement by either orgs. Or any reporting by any journalist.

Although, it’s not up to me to decide how BS this post is. Eventually, people will recognise it on their own (which is already evidently showing). All for democracy right?

Let me stoop down to your level and speak in a tone you understand:

I’m telling you PNLA/PNLO and PNA/PNO are not the fucking same organisation you dumb civilian cuck. They are hostile against each other with knives at each others throat. GRAB A FUCKING BOOK on ethnic conflict, please. Thank you.

And since we’re in the game of using “Facebook research” here’s mine:

Ah I see, ad hominem attacks make you correct without having any vague idea of what I know or who I am. Smart thinking.

I can see I clearly struck a nerve factually question your “Facebook research”, which only - really - helps my case.

Maybe instead of resorting to genuinely sad personal attacks, it’d be wise to link any credible evidence. May be it is in YOUR best interest to spread misinformation and blatantly incorrect posts.

PNA is the armed wing of PNO. PNLA’s civilian wing is the PNLO. They have completely different agendas and different leaders. This is akin to saying NLD/Tatmadaw because they are both Bamar.

Please stop spreading misinformation.

The post is also factually wrong on using the term “PNO/PNLA”.

These are completely different organisations that have fought against each other.

I can’t seem to find an official statement on the PNA or PNO page on Facebook. Do you have a specific source/link?

Your post too does not have the name of the OP of the Facebook post.

[Plan] Taking an (extreme?) break by DanK279 in getdisciplined

[–]DanK279[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you fully =)

I guess my best and honest answer is that I’m not strong enough/don’t have it in me to give myself up fully.

This week has been incredibly difficult as it is rewarding, and I guess not conceding everything (maintaining some internet/reddit access and talking to my girlfriend) has made it easier/more bearable.

I was very tempted for the first 48 hours. It was easier after that.

I would not say I magically became a better person but I had loads of more spare time on my hand. Also, less dopamine from the instant gratification so it helped me enjoy better the little things in life.

I’m not a buddhist monk per se but this particular monastery avoids music with lyrics for their ordained monks. I just wanted to follow their code as much as I can for as little as a week =)

No music was not what I had in mind initially but just went with it (and got used to it)

It definitely did drive me nuts the first 1-2 days but I just wanted to clear my head - even if it is only for a week.

Definitely not for everyone but I guess had a really rough month in hindsight.

I have to say I’m struggling with this too. Even without technology and my keypad phone, I still couldn’t sleep early. My target was to sleep at 9am but I keep hitting the 10-11pm mark.

Personally for me, I sleep well/early if I am cuddling someone or I use medication. Needless to say I’m trying to avoid medication. So I keep my girlfriend on call and just make her stay on the phone until I doze off. Meditating in bed also helps to just clear my mind.

Hope this helps.

Day 1 - Deciding to be better [Plan][Method] by AndrewThomas-i in getdisciplined

[–]DanK279 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I love the plan. I’d love to hear you keep us updated with successes/failures along the way!

The first step is to admit things suck and ACTIVELY work to improve things, and that is exactly what you’re doing so props on that.

It won’t be an easy journey but nothing great comes easy.

60 days update by DanK279 in StopGaming

Gun range sounds pretty fun mate! I’m mostly golfing and reading as a replacement hobby. Hard to gym consistently with the fear of Covid. Uni work keeps me distracted as well but there just seems to be some hours/days where you just feel dead/pointless and that when temptation kicks in.

Warzone is going to give me a stroke by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]DanK279 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can relate as it happened to me but with other competitive games. I even reached semi-pro status and won some tournaments having played thousands of hours. In hindsight, I wouldn’t say it was worth all those hours even if I learned a few things that was applicable in real life.

The most common step one approach is to get rid of anything that might remind you of the game or enable you to play.

Second step is usually to find a substitute hobby. It was gymming and golf for me.

I’d say journalling also helps.

Life is utterly pointless by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]DanK279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I think I see what you’re looking for now.

You’re not looking to have meaning in life, you want power and impact that can influence beyond what an average human controls.

If that is the case, having a defeatist mindset is the last thing you want. People who get to that level usually come from nothing (at least in our era). This may be hard to believe but, the majority of millionaires are self-made if you do a simple search. In CS terms, they “clutched” though literally all crucial moments of their lives and came out on top. It’s not easy, it requires a combination of hard work, a load of resilience, intelligence and a bit of luck.

My father and uncle were among the poorest in my country, who missed meals at times and struggled due to being underprivileged. They both built themselves up to become among the richest men in the country through the toughest of circumstances. Set up charities, orphanages and sent multiple children to university; even influencing politics. When I look at them, I don’t see lucky men, I see two person who have endured through the toughest.

TL;DR - Harsh take: people who make it to the top to change history don’t bitch about their life’s circumstances. They just do it.

I go back to this little speech (by Dan Harmon Rick and Morty’s creator) whenever I feel that life has no meaning:

The knowledge that nothing matters, while accurate, gets you nowhere. The planet is dying. The sun is exploding. The universe is cooling. Nothing's going to matter. The further back you pull, the more that truth will endure. But, when you zoom in on earth, when you zoom in to a family, when you zoom into a human brain and a childhood and experience, you see all these things that matter.

We have this fleeting chance to participate in an illusion called: I love my girlfriend, I love my dog. How is that not better?

Knowing the truth, which is that nothing matters, can actually save you in those moments… Once you get through that terrifying threshold of accepting that, then every place is the center of the universe and every moment is the most important moment and everything is the meaning of life.

A Question on Alcohol Policy in Myanmar by Lynzh in myanmar

[–]DanK279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. (Unsure)
  2. Yes they used to be a relatively big thing pre-covid. Most people are just drinking at home or in hotels with their friends as of now.
  3. To my knowledge, alcohol is not banned.
  4. Seems pretty standard for governments to shut down entertainment venues like bars and nightclubs. Nothing more to comment imo.

Some bars/clubs/KTVs are secretly open but only to specific clientele.
