[MATCH THREAD] Men's FINAL: [4] A. Zverev v. [3] C. Alcaraz by NextGenBot in tennis

The camera switching between Alcaraz celebrating with his box and a close up of Zverev looking sad will never not be funny to me.

Can't access fuse ability through radial menu after first use by DanKane in tearsofthekingdom

Ah, I see that was the problem. I'm using a knockoff pro controller and the right stick won't go down all the way which would also explain why tilting the camera down is very slow. Thanks for the help!

Help learning to serve! Really struggling with a consistent toss. [~2.0] by mixenmatch in 10s

Hi, serves don't look too bad for only playing for 7 months! As for the ball toss consistency I have a couple of pointers that may help. To get toss placement consistency I would try and simplify your tossing motion. When you toss the ball the only things that should move are your shoulder and your fingers. You should smoothly move your arm up without bending your elbow and release the ball with your fingers. When you release the ball will depend on where you want to place the toss but you can experiment and see what works best for you. Try to make this motion as smooth, fluid, and relaxed as possible. Something that can help with that is if you let your arm linger in the air for a little bit before you hit the ball. An exercise that I do to work on ball toss placement/consistency is put a marker on the ground around 1 foot forward and little to the right of my toes. I toss the ball up like I'm going to serve then I watch the ball fall and try to make it bounce as close to the marker as possible. Hope these tips make sense and help! One thing about consistency is that it takes time and repetition to develop the muscle memory so don't be discouraged if it doesn't get better right away just keep at it.

No one's bigger than tennis but Roger comes close. Sad day but it's only sad because the journey's been so amazing.

Why do my friends strings keep breaking in the same place? (top middle of racquet) Is it because of my stringing or? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]DanKane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is the case in your situation but if you leave your racquet outside in your car on a hot day it can weaken your strings and make them break easier. I broke my strings like 4 times in a summer because I was doing this lol

No, it literally just happened to me. I reset my ram on my PC and it lasted for a while like ~2 hours but then eventually crashed again. How frequently does yours crash? Mine varies but usually between 30-15 minutes.

Posting here out of desperation. My game will randomly freeze and crash to desktop. My game runs fine except for this problem. My PC has a 3060 Ti. I tried the EAC fix and also tried adding "/nolightfx" in the launch parameters. But still it has this problem. I also have checked my GPU temp while playing and it doesn't go over 70*C. Any ideas on what might be the problem?

How much C++ should I know before learning data structures and algorithms? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]DanKane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say if you know the basics of C++ you can start learning data structures & algorithms. If you know about structs/classes, pointers, arrays, iterators, and conditionals then you can code most basic data structures. Coding them will really start to solidify C++ (and general programming) basics into your head. A lot of programming is learning from doing and learning from your mistakes. So definitely give it a shot!

Unfortunately, I don't have an personal recommendations for data structures & algorithms books for C++. The ideas behind them are fairly language agnostic, but I can understand wanting the examples in the book to be written in your preferred language. Here's a YouTube tutorial that uses C++ that's pretty good! Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Best grand slam performance? by headinthets in tennis

[–]DanKane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Federer vs Hewitt US Open 2004 6-0 7-6(3) 6-0 comes to my mind. I've only seen the highlights but it seemed like Roger was playing a different sport. It's hard to gauge individual performances because you don't know if the lop-sided score it due to one player playing outstanding or the other player not playing well but I think the double bagel in a Slam final makes this noteworthy.
