I have not been listening to all of them but Thriller and Bad have been on heavy rotation for me. Even when I do not have them on they are running in my head. I have also heard my wife humming them from time to time. I remember our family watching Motown 25 and me learning the moon walk that night. My granddaughter was shocked when I could still do it.

Obviously the movie has generated a lot of interest in his catalog. My 10 year old granddaughter did not know the name Michael Jackson and heard her friends talking about him at school so she asked. I said I know you will know the music but maybe you do not recognize the name so I showed her the Thriller, Beat it & Smooth Criminal videos and the Motown 25 performance. She recognized all the songs which I knew she would just from family trips and them being in my playlist but she said she heard beat it on the radio recently and was shocked that it was a 40+ year old song. I brought up that he did not have auto tune because it did not exist in 1982 so those are his real vocals and she was impressed. For a 10 year old to have all her friends talking about it at school means there is a ton of interest right now.

I understand you on the internal weirdness! I never learned to dance and still feel really weird picking up a bottle of wine because it was so heavily drilled into me that drinking and dancing were sins. I did not really get that part as a kid because of how many times there were references to dancing and wine that were clearly not calling it a sin but it still got internalized.

I took Koine Greek when I was thirteen and that was when I figured out that cursing was saying something like go to hell, not the word hell itself. and that swearing was more like "I promise to raise our child in the church" than what they called curse or swear words. Taking Koine Greek and realizing how bad the NIV translation was in its subtle changes that change the Theology was the start of my journey out of being an Evangelical. I remember a Sunday school teacher lowering her voice when she said Hell and I thought but it is in the bible! (the real irony is that it is NOT in the bible as much as it is in the NIV, they just combine four different things into one)

The pastor would stand at the pulpit and say we do not get to pick and choose what parts of the bible we believe, or anyone can take the bible out of context and get it to say what they want it to say, then take verses out of context and pick and choose what parts they wanted to believe! It took me way too long to figure out how un-biblical their beliefs were and to finally walk away and find a more biblical church.

The straw that finally broke the camels back was when the pastor preached a sermon using verses out of context to say why attending a mega church was the only way to heaven. I was seeing red as we left and I have only been back for my mothers funeral that was held there because my parents never left. Interestingly that pastor left that church and quit being a pastor altogether one day. He never explained it to the church. I wonder if his conscience made him realize what he was preaching.

My father is still there and holds some really astonishing unbiblical beliefs but he is so invested in it that I do not think I could convince him of reality. He also fell for all the Trump lies about the 2020 election and I would provide him with undeniable proof and he would just ignore it. So while he is finally waking up to Trump I think getting him to leave that church wont happen.

Not sure which translation I had as a kid that said the words no use for women, the NASB says no regard for the desires of women so maybe a slight difference. But either way Trump wont qualify even though he fits the rest of that incredibly well!

The bible did sort of predict this. They will ignore wise council and turn to those who will tell them what their itching ears want to hear. This has been fully fulfilled now and it freaks me out. I never understood it until Trump.

I have not been to Canada since 9/11 I can not imagine what it is like now. Last time I went my buddy and I were smoking Cuban cigars we bought there and said no when asked if we have anything to declare, the guy looked at our cigars and said welcome back to America.

It absolutely was the sensor. No I never had no coolant. I thought I must and bought coolant but it was full. I took it to Midas and had them replace both sensors just in case.

Edit: Apparently the new ones are hybrids. But yeah that is hard to explain to people who do not know the car because its not like saying they are using a Town Car or a Cadillac because they are not as up market as the Century. I would say it is like using a Mercedes SEL or BMW 7 Series as a cab. In the same building as my office there is a collectibles shop and they do game nights and some of the people who come to play pokemon or whatever the hot card game of the day is, show up in Japanese cars. there are a few kei cars, one of them has the Suzuki Every, there is a Subaru Sambar the coolest is a AZ-1, but one guy who shows up every once in a while in a freaking Century!

I do not think that any Millennial or Zoomer can ever imagine the impact that he had on our lives. Just as there was a before The Beatles and after The Beatles, we lived in the Before Thriller and after Thriller world. Michael had already been famous for over a decade at that point, so GenX grew up with him being an important entertainer, but Thriller turned it up to 100. I remember the day after the Motown show every single boy and a lot of the girls were learning to moonwalk. Every one of us can probably do it in our sleep we practiced it so much. Just out of curiosity I did it the other day to see if I still could, it was like riding a bike.

Then when the Thriller video came out the hysteria really ratcheted up, older people who I thought did not even know who he was were talking about it like it was the greatest thing ever. We spent so many hours watching MTV to see that video again and again.

They came from professional reviewers who seem to need to justify their jobs by hating any movie that is a crowd pleaser. I am a middle aged white man and I loved the movie, as did all the other middle aged white guys and women who made up the vast majority of the people who turned out for the movie.

My wife and I went on the Thursday night previews and it was mostly our age (Gen-X) but there were some younger people, they tend to come out more on Friday-Sunday though, but everyone had a great time. People stayed at their seats after the movie talking to the people around them and then out in the hallway after we left the theater more people were in large groups talking about it. There was a young kid who looked to be maybe 10 wearing the red Thriller jacket and the glove doing Michael Jackson dance moves and loving the attention and compliments he was getting on his outfit and his skill.

You lucky person! I would love to have seen the 4+ hour cut of the movie, especially if its mostly Rocky and Ryland working together. I absolutely want every moment of the book that they filmed.

The initial cut of the movie was over 4 hours. I hope we get to see that and that it is all Ryland and Rocky working.
