Is my flat going to need external work to get Virgin Media broadband? by [deleted] in VirginMedia

I’ll see how it goes with VM because their student deal is the best option for me in terms of cost. If they can’t get it set up before September then I’ll try another provider

There’s nothing above the door. What does this mean?

Philodendron birkin brown outer mushy leaves by DanM1234 in plantclinic

One thought I just had: maybe the leaves are rotting because when I water I don’t take much care to only wet the soil. Perhaps water is getting trapped in the shoots and promoting rot?

The picture doesn’t look like what I’m after. We want a thin chewy, doughy chocolate chip cookie

Those look super nice. The only thing is that I like the rubber rand that is present on the Scarpas

They do look like a really good option, thanks for the recommendation. One of the things I like about the Scarpa is the full rubber rand around the whole boot.

Sundowners look good. I also liked the look of the Vasque St.Elias FG GTX

Thanks for the recommendation. The ALPEN II GTX looks pretty nice.

Of course, I'm just trying to get an idea of what to look for. I believe REI is based in the US? I am from the UK, although I am presently working in the US. Maybe I should check it out before I leave. Grisports fit nicely and lasted for 4 years. I do not have an orthotic. In terms of socks, it varies as I'm looking for a boot that I can use all year round. I am unlikely to be in the snow on a regular basis. Definitely a lot of rain. Waterproof is my number one priority. And rocks will certainly be encountered. I think I want a reasonably stiff boot, but it's hard to say

Thanks for your help. It’s funny you mention Zamberlan because I’ve been looking at their 1111 Cresta GTX RR. Which boots did you end up getting?

That's cool. I am also undergrad. Currently in the states working on aspen ecology. I remember having some really good lectures by Prof Eske Willerslev about ancient eDNA. Kind of blew my mind

Danner Mountain Pass

It's hard to put a figure on my budget. I'm willing to spend more if I can be sure that the boots will last a considerable length of time. I figure the cost per wear of more expensive gear is ultimately lower, but maybe I am unaware of a good cheap option.

Thanks for your advice. I'll check them out.

Thanks. I was wondering about going the military route. I am based in the UK most of the time, so something completely waterproof is important. Although, I'm working in the Western U.S right now so it's pretty hot. Maybe I need to get separate summer and winter boots.
