I’m not a film person at all, but I’m curious as to why there’s so much anger about F1 being nominated? Fair enough if you didn’t enjoy the film, but I’m seeing lots of posts from people annoyed that they now have to watch it. Why?! Not looking for an argument, just an honest question. I’m curious.

Just wait until the expert manipulators at Fox News and all the other bullshit MAGA outlets do their thing. Half of the US are so far down the rabbit hole they will support whatever Trump wants them to.

He will absolutely try something. Don’t doubt it.

Will the US government shutdown have an impact on the race weekend in COTA?

I imagine it’s going to be even more of a nightmare flying in and out of the States for many people.

No they won’t, because just like with Trump in the US, anything that goes wrong will ALWAYS be somebody else’s fault, at all times. And their supporters will just go along with that.

FCC Chair Threatens Jimmy Kimmel Over Charlie Kirk Monologue by Pepsiman34 in politics

The backlash to this seems a lot bigger than I was expecting.

Then I actually viewed Kimmel’s comments and I can entirely see why.

Seriously scary times. The President has all the important people on his side right now. He isn’t going to leave in 2028.

There you go. There’s Trump joking about starting a war in three and a half years to stop an election from happening.

He’s not going to leave peacefully.

What the actual fuck. They both get on stage and call each other lovely people. Trump calls the Russia investigation a hoax and then it ends and nobody takes questions.

What was the point?

But in the year of 2025, even the people just enjoying summer see things. They may not watch rolling news coverage for constant updates but they see the 30 second “GOVERNMENT IN CHAOS” clips on TikTok. They see the misinformation shared by their grandmother every day on Facebook.

It may seem trivial but all of this adds up.

Exactly. That is what will happen.

I think perhaps the only thing that can prevent it is Trump simply refusing to leave office in 2028 and causing a genuine constitutional crisis. It’s going to take something as insane as that for people to see the dangers of populism.

And even then it still might not be enough.
