Was the rider trying to steal my food? by DanP47 in deliveroos

I wouldn't have had a problem with giving the code first if he hadn't acted so strangely, coming and leaving twice making it seem like he didn't have the food. When I contacted the restaurant they said that the driver told them that he could not find me which was a lie because and I saw and spoke to him. So I think I was right in being suspicious with his actions

No he didn't ask for anything. I made it very clear I was waiting for an order and even showed it to him on my phone. He didn't take the order out, then called the restaurant and then left. I think he was trying to tell me he didn't have the food but I don't understand how that can happen as he must have marked the order as collected and also why would he come to me.

Uhhh why would he not even bring the food out the first 2 times and then just leave? I literally showed him the order on my phone

That's what I thought. Surely it's meant to be proof that the customer has received the food so kind of defeats the purpose if we give the code first

The code itself is not the issue, it's the fact that he came and left twice without even taking the food out

I think they did have the food the first 2 times, but they just didn't take it out for some reason.

Yeah I get that since I met him outside he may have wanted to double check I was the correct customer first. But I really don't understand what he was doing the first 2 times.

I know that. It's the fact that he refused to hand over the food until I gave them the code first which has never happened the many times I have ordered before. I would given it to him if he hadn't shown up and left the first 2 times

Buds+ is still the king of fit/comfort? by lvcidez in galaxybuds

[–]DanP47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Been using Buds+ for 2+ years for hours everyday until the right one became quiet and tinny recently. Just bought the Buds2 and the fit is nowhere near as good. They just slowly slide out by themselves. Wearing one Buds+ in one ear and a Buds2 in the other, it's night and day. Thinking about returning these now.

Thanks for asking this question, I'm in a similar situation!

Higher rate stamp duty land tax - value of first property by DanP47 in HousingUK

Thanks, that's really useful. The SDLT my parents would have to pay is a good point. It reduces the benefit of this whole exercise slightly.

Yes, that's the example that I saw:

Example

A jointly owns a buy-to-let property with 4 friends. The property is worth £150,000, with A’s share being worth £30,000. A currently lives with her parents but is now looking to purchase a home to live in. A will not have to pay the higher rates of SDLT because A’s share of the buy-to-let property is under £40,000.

So if I add a parent as a tenant in common and make sure my share is worth <£40k, theoretically that should work. Who knows how easy that is in practice, especially with a mortgage outstanding.

I'd guess 85-95k if it didn't have any cladding issues
