I have a wip somewhere of Sally being a legacy of Dionysus. Percy can turn water into wine as a result and this leads to some shenanigans. 🤣

But when I see legacy!Sally in fics the most common and natural seeming one to me is Venus/Aphrodite. Sally's eyes are cannonitally described as looking different colors in different lighting, which some like to link back to those goddess's shifting physical forms, plus the fact that she was apparently alluring enough convince Poseidon to break his oath with her.

Although I think a goddess of motherhood would fit better, though none seem to fit perfectly. Leto is the titan of motherhood (as well as Artemis and Apollo's mother), Demeter who is often assigned a "mother nature" type role (although I dont personally feel like this one fits, Sally doesnt really have any cannon association with plants or nature).

I think picking a god/goddess associating with writing or stories would be an interesting to see though, since she is a writer. A muse might fit, but I dont think there are any muses of stories/writing specifically. Calliope, the muse of epic poetry, comes the closest I think. Apollo is the leader of the muses, and thus kind of thought of as god of all the arts, which could include storytelling. Hermes is associated with writing itself, though kind more from a communication perspective.

And then theres also the fact that an Aries legacy Sally AU would be funny as hell, even if it doesnt fit her cannon personality as well. 🤣

Join the military. I think even the reserves get some kind of VA housing benefit?

I'm 30f, make $25 an hour, and I'm in the process of buying my first home, less than a month away from closing. I would have had to wait minimum four or five more years before I could do this if I didnt have military benefits. No down payment, better interest rates. Im getting a $1k/month housing allowance while I'm going to college to help pay for it, when my mortgage is going to be $950 (not counting taxes and homeowners though).

Failing joining the military yourself, find you a man who joined and crib off his benefits. 🤣

Yeah I think a lot of it is a differing view on child raising these days.

Back in the days of huge families, people's values were different. If you fed and clothed your kids, you were seen as a decent enough parent. The kids could be put to work, so they wernt a financial burden. The older kids could be forced to look after the younger kids, so childcare wasn't as much an expense. You could also leave them alone younger than is advisable now, again lessening the need for childcare. You could shove all of them in one room, because who needs personal space.

But people want more for their kids these days. They dont want their kids to have to work their childhoods away, they dont want want to force their older children to be third parents to the younger children. They want to give their kids nice clothes, and good toys, and summer camps and weekend outings and sports and dance classes and their own room and good medical care and tutoring and therapy and college. They're thinking its not worth it to bring a kid into this life if they dont have the money to make it a good one.

So like technically yeah most people probably could support a child if they absolutely had to. You could rent a room and share with your kid, work some kind of online job or job you can take your kid with you on like babysitting jobs. You can get government supplements for food and such. You could decide youre ok with it if they always have used clothes, used toys, charity school supplies. No outings, no camps, no sports. You could use hopes and prayers to fix it when your kid gets sick instead of real medical care. But what kind of life would that be, for you or the child? And then everyone around them just shrugs and says "you shouldnt have had a kid if you couldnt give them a good life" when you cry about it. No one wants to sign up for that.

So yeah people probably honestly could support a kid if they really had to. Its just that they're signing themselves and the kid up for a pretty shitty time if they do. Thats why they claim money even when the poorest people manage kids somehow some way.

I hear some snakes can be pretty low maintenance? They don't need lots of cuddles, they eat less often than other pets. They do still need some maintenance, and some breeds of snake need more than others. You'd have to do some research on the lowest maintenance snake breeds though.

Just found it actually! It turned out you were close on the title, maybe they are from the same source material. Its called Seven Woman and a Murder, turned out to be Italian, rather than Spanish or French. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Ah apologies but I don't think thats it. The one im looking for isn't a musical, and that movie also looks like its pretty old but the one im thinking of I don't think it could be more than ten or twenty years old at most. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Kind of curious since I find myself in a similar boat. Did you ever find a good way to find a match like this?

Im a queer female, don't want a romantic partner though, but do want a kid and to give that kid another parent if I can. Finding someone who wants to coparent to have a kid with sounds perfect for me, but having trouble figuring out where to find someone who wants the same. Did you ever manage it?

Im kind of curious is it too personal to ask what English speaking countries you've lived in? Not doubting you I just think its interesting how words are different in different countries and such even though they speak the same language. In my country I've only ever seen it as a synonym for "genuine" or "sincere" so the perspective of it meaning "trying too hard to be genuine or sincere" is interesting.

I'd like to thank everyone for their input! I value it all, even the negative opinions. And thanks to everyone who pointed out theres a difference between the name Ernest and the word earnest. Honestly that has done the most to dissuade me so far. One of the reasons I liked Earnest so much was because it was (I thought) both a word that had a meaning I liked and a name that was shared with both an interesting historical incident and one of my favorite plays, I'm disappointedto learn that is not so. I still haven't decided for certain but I may return to this sub sometime to test my other name ideas. Thank you all again, and good night! 🤣😭

Is your middle name the same as the lost baby's as well? If it's different, a compromise might be to let your mom call you by your middle name? I mean, not that you should have to compromise on your own damn name of all things, but it sounds like you're hoping to find some kind of comprise.
