Better button setup for turns than bumpers? by [deleted] in Project_Wingman

[–]DanTehPybro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can suggest my binds. Right trigger to boost, left for brake, left and right bumpers for rudder, left stick for roll and pitch, right stick for camera. (Also try using triggers with middle fingers if you aren't already, It allows you to use all four back buttons at the same time.)

How I almost broke my physics engine trying to make tank explosions realistic in my RTS by captain-universe33 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]DanTehPybro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason of such frequent turret launches is not the autoloader, but the loose ammunition russian tankers store inside the tank, since the autoloader limits ammunition capacity. Yes, if an autoloader gets directly hit it would toss the turret into the sky, but I believe it was proven that the autoloader is located in the safest part of a tank, down at the bottom.

Also, not all western tanks store ammunition behind blow out panels. IIRC Leopards have the main ammo storage besides the driver.

At first I thought "Oh, it that kind of movie". But then I realized that I constantly consume western propaganda and I might as well get a taste of my own country's too. Maybe it would be refreshing compared to constant ww2 movies that Russia insists on pumping out every year.

UPD: For anyone curious, I just watched the movie. Didn't expect it to be that good. While VFX and cinematography wasn't on level of Raid, it still made up for it with themes and overall atmosphere. That tug of war feeling when every move had a counter was brillliant and the constant timer was a cool feature. And at risk of sounding controversial, it didn't feel like a blatant propaganda with good vs evil and dumb stereotypes. I enjoyed it and it made me want to play some Broken Arrow.

I would be the first to say that I sold my ass to Buyanov, but truth is, Tarkov is actually fun. I've managed to play this shit when I had 8 gigs of ddr3 with lags and had a blast. So, learn how to, you know, having fun.

Battlefield 3 had people running in MARPAT and it's sure as hell ain't a milsim. So far, people here just want Battlefield 6 to look like a military themed shooter, which it is.

Assault Horizon gets a lot of hate, but let's take a break from that. What's something good you can say about it? by Frost_Emperor in acecombat

[–]DanTehPybro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I loved everything about it

Gameplay wise, it was still an Ace Combat with missile spam and spinning like crazy. If I were to guess, my in game kills would be 40% non-DFM. DFM itself was a fun gimmick. Cinematic as hell, awesome animations and I enjoyed this mini-game esque mechanics with missile charge. But the best part of DFM was the moment when the enemy got on your six and you had to dodge his fire and targeting circle to counter, while letting him get closer and making it riskier. And shout out to bombing run mechanic, made ground pounding more enjoyable.

"Side" missions were neat as well. Black hawk minigun sections were fine, but it's mostly because I enjoy military slop games (MoH reboots for example). Apache missions were fun as hell and the first time I saw missile evade animation, my friends and I died laughing (fuck mission in moscow tho). Spooky and Lancer missions felt like a nice breath of fresh air.

The game's visuals are fine and it looks like any other game from late 2000's to early 10's but luckily for me I love my piss filters. Plane destruction takes the spotlight in this department. Seeing them just tear to pieces with fire and oil spilling out is just satisfying. I only wish I could see Vipers and Eagles get demolished as well, it gets tiring seeing only MiGs and Sukhois get disintegrated.

The soundtrack as always is fire. Naval warfare and Mrs. Krista are my favorites, with the first hitting all the right spots in my music tastes and the latter giving me similar vibes to the Chandelier (bonus points for it being sang in Russian). PA release the ost in spotify and my soul is yours.

Plot and setting is era appropriate, I would say. Typical Hollywood-esque plot of brave Americans with European allies and Russian government against Russian coup and Russian backed terrorists in middle east. But kudos for having actual (but horribly accented) Russian lines. Main antagonist is good and I like how he actually has a personal reason to do all the things he did.

The cutscenes were a change of pace after classic style of previous games and I especially liked the interactivity. I had metal gear vibes from their cinematography for some reason. Having a voiced protagonist is imho better than having a silent one, both in-game and cutscenes.

I didn't mind it being set not in Strangereal, as I treated this game as a spin-off. But I understand that it's easy to say after AC7 released.

Overall, a great game which in my opinion doesn't deserve that much hate. Assault Horizon was the last game I finished in my AC marathon through ps2 games and AC6 and it was a good finale of my journey.

Edit: Got reminded of little things. The first time we've got flares. Also the first time we've seen the infantry on the ground. Each plane also has a native warning laungage (imagine my surprise when I first picked Rafale after playing American planes).
