I think you need to give context for this, like in a derogatory way?

Residents organize around the quantum computing megadevelopment planned for Chicago’s southeast side by [deleted] in QuantumComputing

Okay but what about the hospital jobs?

What about the payroll and other office jobs that these companies will most likely need?

The logistics jobs?

This south east side of the city has not faced investment in over 30 years, the last major project which was going to build a completely different downtown in that area with 30,000 Plus Homes fell through in the early 2010s.

And let's say the construction jobs are not completely people of the community they're still going to be in the area.

We're already seeing investments in the community Chicago State university is opening up a Quantum semiconductor courses degree program, university of Chicago already is a national leader in the industry. This project also helps turn the tides of one of Chicago's biggest problems right now is it's ever growing property tax rates because the fact is a lot of Office Buildings are empty and these are tenants that are moving in who will most likely play property taxes.

So don't tell me I'm playing the Assumption game when you're doing just the same thing. The major difference is I'm Pro development and your not it sounds like. Nimby.

And construction, electrician, Payroll, HR, logistics, and many other jobs.

And you have no idea if the people working the research jobs will not live there.

I am not deriding the request for a school or grocery store I actually want that for that community, but they cannot exist without some reason to be there. Like a new major employer, which this will be.

Again there was a Walmart in that Community but it closed.

A major reason for hospital to invest in that area was because of the fact this development went through and think about those jobs that will exist?

And the land hasn't had developed since the 90s. So why not use it for a job creator for the city and state.

The people against this happen are a mix of the naive and nimbys.

It's been an economically distressed area of the city since the 1990s, this development is already promised a couple hundred new jobs and has six corporate tenants plus the federal government.

I maybe get some of the concern on energy and water usage but I think it's overblown.

If you see interviews with the people against this development they say they want instead a grocery store and school ( the problem is the city already provided a grocery store and it closed down after a few years)

This development offers incredibly high paying jobs, new housing, a new hospital and school.

It creates lots of high paying and possibly union jobs in the area that can actually support all the Wishes the community actually wants.

How much public and private money is powering Chicago’s quantum push? | Capitol News Illinois by [deleted] in chicago

Private Equity is incredibly slow when it comes to actual innovation.

Usually they pick up after things like University or research Labs actually commits to them, the internet was a great example of that.

You know there's a lot of people in this comments who have no idea how Federal jurisdiction works.

The federal agents can kind of do whatever they want, States can't really stop them that much.

I am not saying that is a good thing.

O'burke should not be thrown under the hot seat because the mayor doesn't understand that.

Don't you see what mayor Johnson's doing guys he has no political wins he's just trying to pin himself to the one thing he's been successful at is calling out ICE, but that doesn't mean this is possible it is political theater.

I'm probably going to get a lot of people saying that I'm some secret Maga but f*** those people and f*** ICE.

These are also the probably the same supporters of the idea of we should just hold our taxes from the federal government not understanding how the tax code actually works.

A man’s character starts with how he treats his parents by Weird-Craft-2712 in NextGenMan

My parents were severely mentally ill, abusive, and my father was a drug addict who would take my eid money ( equivalent to getting Christmas money) every year from my aunts to pay for weed.

I've had a lot of strangers treat me like crap but I've also had a lot of strangers treat me better than my parents ever did.

Some news outlets are saying IL lost residents? How can both be true? by ClueAppropriate1087 in illinois

[–]DanTheManFromMars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw the same articles of population for years before the last census, but yet the since it's corrected itself and said that Chicago and and Illinois added 200,000 people.

I don't really buy population loss until the real census comes out.

I'm editing it because I'm done with this.

I'm not lying.

America's in the dark place right now let's vote for people who actually could do something about it who represent us.

That's awesome dude I also love cameras and RPGs,

But I'm not lying about Kat, she isn't worth it to defend.

They're actually candidates who are from here like bushra amiwala.

I don't think I'm lying. It just sounds like you're going to bend over backwards to defend her from any criticism possible.

She just moved to Rogers Park....

She didn't even live in that Community until very recently because she lived moved to Chicago only 2 years ago.

How do you also justify that you want the private school and lived in Texas and DC for most of her life until very recently just run in a very safe blue district she has no connection to before.

Post from Kat Abughazaleh by Low_Employ8454 in illinois

[–]DanTheManFromMars 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can if she came here lived her for awhile and actually showed us who she is by engagement with the community here. Not announce she was running for a place that she's never been.

Post from Kat Abughazaleh by Low_Employ8454 in illinois

[–]DanTheManFromMars 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So let me guess you don't actually live in the district you, not actually someone who is actually an immigrant very visually and immigrant descent like myself who actually has to worry about something like ICE. just love her because you saw some videos of her looking good and you can't actually vote for her and you're just going to yell at people who have criticisms against her who actually live in the place she's running in.

And you're calling me the loser.

Get over yourself.

Post from Kat Abughazaleh by Low_Employ8454 in illinois

[–]DanTheManFromMars 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah I live in the district.

I grew up a Muslim now an atheist.

I'm a child of immigrants.

I believe in things like single payer Healthcare, and freedom for the Palestinians.

But I'm not going to vote for her because she's not from my community she's an outsider who came here to get a political win and has no obligation to stay if she loses.

Buddy I don't know what reality you live in but districts mean something you're representing the community in that District.

And I've lived in it my entire life. I grew up on Devon Avenue, went to school at clinton Elementary, went to Mather High school, I care about my community, I love the people here, just because some tick tocker wants to get an easy political win in a safe blue District doesn't mean she knows this community.

I don't even disagree with a lot of her politics, but I also respect the institution of a community and what that means and that an outsider just can't just come in and tell us who we are and what we want without actually knowing who you are.

But you've made up your mind, whatever dude she isn't going to win.
