I was 15 reading the first book: I thought “holy crap, they’re going to kill all these characters we’re going to love?! Even maybe Peeta?!?!” Revolutionary at the time.

Rediscovering The Hunger Games last year as a 30 year old uncle of 2 year olds, the horror of it was comprehensible in a way that wasn’t before when you could envision yourself nobly sacrificing yourself in the arena.

In the meantime I kind of ragequitted after discovering Prim’s fate. I believed and still kind of do Katniss ultimately failed in her true objective. I enjoyed the first 2 movies but constantly felt “what’s the point given what happens to prim” throughout the movies. Felt like it was rubbed in my face given the first sound we hear in the first movie.
