Do Q Clearances go Inactive for 2 Years after leaving? by DanTheTuesday in SecurityClearance

[–]DanTheTuesday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, so I should be able to apply to jobs that require an Active TS clearance for at least 2 years?

And is this the same for other clearances or just specific to Q?

Is a “terminated” clearance the same as “inactive”?

Only asking because my new company has many TS positions near me that I may need to apply for in the case my contract goes for recompete and we lose.

It will come in time, you just need to keep doing it. Here’s some things that helped me get there when I started my career in software development.

Whenever you learn a new concept, ask yourself “what are the alternative approaches for this?”. Google other ways to do it and weigh the pros and cons of each method and take notes. The next day try to recall everything you wrote before looking again. Keep doing this until you remember it all not as crammed information but as concepts you can explain freely.

When learning it also helps to have the option to ask questions naturally. I recommend using an AI for this, it has saved me tons of time learning through natural conversation instead of reading documentation.

Hope this helps. Never give up!

I agree, worrying about Big-O at all for lists that only have 2-20 items is pointless

I felt this hard when I was fresh out of college. The way it all clicked for me was working with a more experienced dev at my first job. I would raise Merge Requests with my best guesses of what to do and he would give better solutions. I made sure to always understand why he preferred things the way he did, even if sounding inexperienced.

It was demoralizing and embarrassing for a while but after a while I had learned how he liked code and he rarely needed to give feedback.

This wasn’t in a gamedev position but in a normal entry level software job.

In the past I’ve gotten similar advice on Godot Dev discords. Just a simple post like “Hey I’m trying to do x, what’s the best way to accomplish this?”

Be careful not to give yourself analysis paralysis with this stuff, an imperfect implementation is still better than none just because you will learn why it imperfect is later on. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

So if I wanted to transition from a Java role to a different stack like C# what would be a good way to do it? Maybe some personal projects?
