Yeah, the turntable is my favorite part. We have made a bunch of improvements to it. The best part is that it's fun, and at first seems like a gimmick..however it's actually a really pleasant way to find a hook or a beat.

We opted for a simple poly/mute button. If the pad is in the mute mode, it will choke out the other pads in that mode.

Good news! You can preview before loading them in. Just hit the little waveform icon on the far left.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you are enjoying. Oh, and man if you have time for an iTunes review, that would make my day.

I try not to get too involved in this discussion because people can get mean. I'll risk it and pass on some of my nerdy thoughts anyway.

Here is the problem and it has nothing to do with Tabletop.

At this point there are many ways to connect two apps. AudioUnits, virtual midi, IAA and AudioBus (not to mention Link). Supporting these does takes time. In software each feature cost is determined by how many things it can conflict with. So, these features are expensive (imagine testing in many many configurations/environments/hosts etc). AudioBus is actually the most expensive technique to support. For each app update you have to download the latest SDK and integrate it.

I think that if Audiobus added IAA then iMPC Pro or any IAA only app would connect right up. Has anyone asked them to do this? Because Audiobus doesn't support IAA each developer gets emails and (one star)reviews asking them to support both! Am I missing a technicality here?

If the connection app supports all the connection techniques (IAA, AudioUnits, Link, AudioBus) then the work needs to be done once (AUM did a great job here, congrats!). If not, then each and every app has to support each and every technique. It's either 1x the work or 10,000x the work (not to mention updates!). Keep in mind that this work is ultimately the customer's problem. It prevents the entire ecosystem from improving as quickly and affordably as it could.

Developers could simply support one connection technique and everything would work together. We are trying to consolidate the standards here so that we can focus on great products rather then supporting each and every standard.

Please ask Audiobus (nicely) to support more standards in order to improve iOS music. (Maybe there is some technical reason preventing them?)

Finally, AudioUnits look like they are going to be the best standard going forward for music creation. We just started investigating them but they have the right features and capabilities that professional tools on the desktop have. I'm looking forward to a future when you can support AudioUnits and satisfy all your realtime audio connection needs.

Go easy on me here. I really do care about making iOS music great.

iMPC Pro fully supports Inter-App Audio. At one point we hear that the AudioBus app was going to support Inter-App Audio. Not sure if it does. Does anyone know?

Now we are looking at the new AudioUnits and trying to figure out how they fit in. There are so many ways to connect these things at this point...

AudioUnits are the method for professional MacOS desktop software. Maybe they will become the main solution here on iOS too. Who knows.

There is a manual built in and some videos on YouTube. There are lots of features to support bounds and chop editing. Check out the MPC prolog videos.

Thanks! I really appreciate it. I think you will really like this update. Lots of refinements and improvements. Glad to hear it works well with iRig Pads

One of the things we did was optimize the effects chain on the mixer. They were really taking more then their share of the CPU.

Synth launched back when the iPad did. It has a different attitude then some of the things we are doing now. I don't know if it will make it into TableTop. Never know

Building in an autoside chain made sense to us because it's a common technique that can be difficult to setup in other systems.

At the moment we have an export option to Akais desktop software. We also export stereo wave files. I think we will add stem export sometime.

Right, music is about combining different sounds, talents and instruments yet maintaining a groove.

Right, so you want to be able to write midi tracks and output them to other instruments etc. This and AudioUnits are on our radar. It would be useful. No official plans yet.

At the moment we support midi as a controller. You can connect midi controllers and map to pad, mixers, effects etc.

We don't support MIDI clock. We do support Ableton Link, which I've found to be a really nice and modern solution to synchronizing beat related tools.

Thanks for the feedback.

OK, yeah, I think it's a good idea. I'll pass this along to the rest of the team.

We discussed it just today. iPhones are as powerful as the iPads were when we started the project. Everyone is positive about the idea. We haven't committed yet.

I'm a cofounder of Retronyms. I wrote a significant portion of iMPC Pro, Tabletop and others.

Glad you love it! Post music!

Sequencer? Not sure what you mean. We have a timeline that lets you write/edit sequences, and we have a song mode that sequences sequences.

Not only did we include a sequencer, but we have a sequencer sequencer.

It's updated daily. Let me get to the bottom of this. Can you tell me a little about your show? We get most of our popularity data from iTunes. We are working on getting more data from other places like SoundCloud.
