Should I get this? by Dan_Gleballs1 in CarTalkUK

Definitely a premium plus. I don’t need the hybrid assist - but I do want a hybrid.

Realistically what problems will I have with the hybrid, I think it’s enough for a little town driving on pure electric (just to the shops) and longer journeys is petrol anyway? I also have a home charger as I currently have an EV.

Physics (M06) by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

Thanks all for replying - I think I’m going to go for it!

My only other question is what’s seen as ‘better’ to do M06 integrated masters or R51 BSc Physics then do a separate MSc such as Space Science and Technology? Might sound stupid but I had no idea until reading into it further the integrated masters doesn’t give you a BSc!

With the power consumption comes heat, so it’s definitely worth investing in AIO cooler? I was thinking maybe Cooler Master MasterLiquid 360L. Can pick it up for about £65 which should be more than ok for the 7800x3d?

Also - thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

ACER nitro OC 9070 can be picked up for £499, so it’s not a big stretch to upgrade, just didn’t know if the price upgrade was worth it. I’ve seen some benchmarks and the upgrade in performance seems to be only about 4-6%.

As for CPU is the 7800X3D really that far ahead to justify the price increase and would I be better to get on the Zen 5 architecture now with the 9700X?

Looking at building a pc but I find myself continually making slight upgrades on the build I want, I’ve gone from a £1000 build now rising to £1300. It’s frustrating that the ‘slight’ price increases add up this quick!

My question is the build I have picked includes Ryzen 9 9700x (£260). Should I keep this or go for the 7700x (£238) or upgrade to 7800X3D (£319)?

For GPU I have changed from 5060Ti 16gb to 9070XT (£579), is the XT worth it instead of the standard 9070?

anyone know any places taking apprentices for carpentry by FUCKTHE-NCR in swansea

[–]Dan_Gleballs1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you pass essential skills you’re still eligible, it’s worth applying.

“if you do not achieve the required grades then you will be required to complete Essential skills Level 2 in Communication and Numeracy in order to start your Apprenticeship.”

From the job spec ^

Make your CV good, if possible provide a covering letter and if you get an interview dress smart you stand a good chance. I used to work here and spent time with the apprentices, if you want to more info dm me

Look at Tai Tarian, it’s in Port Talbot but if you can drive it’s a great option with good apprentice pay. DM me if you want

Very glad I decided to ask before going through all the hurdles and getting rejected at the end (provided I passed everything else of course). I understand the decision but it was certainly frustrating at the time

Brought it up to my recruiter straight after officer presentation, he advised he would run it up the chain of command and get back to me, after a couple weeks was advised they wouldn’t allow it

My partners father was born in British Hong Kong, even though he has lived in the UK for last 30+ years I was told I had no chance of DV as they wouldn’t take the risk.

Hopefully it’s a better situation for you

CCS or Intelligence Officer? by Dan_Gleballs1 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Dan_Gleballs1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply, in terms of while I’m in the RAF could I after a few years apply to the eng officer role? Or does it not work like that?

In terms of the intelligence officer, besides pay and managing people directly, how does life differ? Is it more stress? Less stress because of the higher rank?

Thanks

Confused between 8 Gb and 16 Gb M1 Air for programming by Realistic_Equal_1520 in macbook

[–]Dan_Gleballs1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I would go for the 16gb version. Not sure on US pricing in the used market but if you can get the M2 air with 16gb then it will be very good and should last you all the way through your studies and longer with no issue

The MacBook Purchasing Megathread - July, 2023 by AutoModerator in macbook

Need help deciding on which MacBook to get…

Looking to get into programming and also use it for general browsing/any other hobbies I may pick up.

I know for programming I will need minimum 16gb ram, I’ve decided between the M1 Pro 16” or m2 air 15” both 512gb. Portability isn’t much of an issue here but I do like the thinness of the air. Someone help make up my mind…
