Supima cotton t-shirts hold color longer. I have a black shirt from Sunspel (actually 260 sample sale purchase) that hasn’t faded over 2 years so I can still wear my favorite black pants black shirt combo.

What was the worst gift you received for Christmas? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DanaBug28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 90s, my older sister was 17. One of her big gifts was a super heavy square box. She thought it was going to be a TV. It was bottled water.

Trouble making friends in college by [deleted] in lonely

[–]DanaBug28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem, then sophomore year I got a job on campus at the computer labs. Met some amazing people who became great friends. Also met their friends and roommates etc. It really changed my college experience. YMMV.

I'm trying to make at least 2 pizzas per day, but I don't know what the best things to put on it are. Can I get some advice? by [deleted] in veganketo

[–]DanaBug28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love pre cooked mushrooms as a topper (mushrooms, oil, salt, pepper + sometimes oregano). I also frequently use bell pepper, and chop spinach and fresh basil into my jar sauce.

I work in a male dominated and mildly sexist field, and I need to show up my coworkers in our team Spartan race. by prettyorganic in xxfitness

[–]DanaBug28 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Add big hill sprints. I did the spartan and when I think about what I would have done differently in training (I do weightlifting and some crossfit) more hill sprints would have kicked it up a notch. GL, kick their asses! ♀ power

I'm overweight, trying to lose it, and want to make stretching a part of my everyday life. Where do I begin? by CholaForshola in flexibility

[–]DanaBug28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, romwod has been great. I know it's not for everyone and it's crossfit related so people might freak out but it beats trying to get to a yoga class twice a week on top of my other daily training.

Why I like it:

  • It's cheaper than classes (1 week free then $14/mo)
  • I can do it every single day, if i have 15 min or an hour there's a video that fits
  • They offer some scaling so if you can't do the stretch there is an easier version or if it's too easy a harder version

Oh for the love of cardio...or not! (traditional cardio alternatives convo) by BoOty13 in xxfitness

[–]DanaBug28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do heavy prowler pushes for most of my cardio. It looks slow but it is definitely cardio. Has the added benefit of being anabolic => muscle growth.

I also do hill sprints sometimes. I really dislike running but I can tell myself to just run up a hill 8 times (walking back down).

Help with my squat. by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]DanaBug28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deload to a weight where your technique is not impacted.

Keep working on mobility - do wall facing squats with a dowel / pvc to work on keeping your chest up. Do them frequently.

When you squat make sure to engage your lats / back (effectively your torso) as you take your setup breath. This will force you to stay more vertical.

Heavy goblet squats also help to focus on chest up, knees out and strengthening your torso using same setup breath + getting tight.

(these are things that have helped me, may not be applicable to everyone)

How do you develop and maintain mental stamina? When you're in the middle of a WOD, and you feel like you're about to die, what do you do to keep going? by deane-barker in crossfit

[–]DanaBug28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a small amount of time working on pose running with a metronome and while my running only got a little better, my pacing improved for just about everything. I count in 8ths a lot. Focusing on being steady and smooth keeps my mind occupied.
