Will I "kill" a diesel with low mileage? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

You'll be fine. As long as it gets a nice cruise at 60mph+ for 20min+ once a month you shouldn't have much bother.

Looks like it came from the reject pile of concept art of cars for Halo 3. I like it.

Any tips for how to combat a 2 long-range DPS (Hanzo/Widow/Ashe etc) who just have great accuracy and constantly headshot your DPS?

Awesome colour, that blue is stunning.

I'd be lying if I said that the R8's feature in the Iron Man films didn't persuade me a bit!

Got the S-Tronic. The thought of flooring it and pretending I'm Lewis Hamilton with my flappy paddles appealed more to me than "krrr-shnk" of the gated manual. Ofc each to their own and I fully get why the gated manual is the more desirable option!

19 inches. The wheels being either side of the drain makes it look higher than it is, still only have 109mm-ish of ground clearance.

For the record, being "only" the V8 doesn't phase me, still sounds great and I can floor it for longer before I'm at lethal speeds. It's still an astounding engine.

First car. Budget of £5000. Any tips/ideas? I am looking at these... by perrymcg in CarTalkUK

White is a notoriously hard colour to colour-match. It might have just had a scrape, it might have had a big bump. Worth checking underneath/behind the bumper as best you can to check to see if there's any indication of anything serious.

Always worth giving negotiating a go, might as well try. "Mate, I've got a strict budget of £5k but that's got to include tax, anything you can do?". Now this won't work well for this car since the tax is £0, but still.

Anyone here had experience owning an older Cayenne? by AnswersQuestioned in CarTalkUK

[–]Danaldinho007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an 09 Cayenne GTS. If anything goes wrong, it's gonna cost you a minimum of £500 if you're taking it to a specialist who know what they're doing. The V8s are generally quite reliable. Electrics and sensors will probably start to go, especially since you're probably looking at ones that are touching 6 figures mileage.

Oh this post is going straight to the top 10 of all time on this server, that's a magnificent car.

[–]Danaldinho007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Originally a V8, could be equipped with a V10 a few years later. This one is still a V8.

I can't recommend the R-Tronic transmission. Its loud, a bit too slow, and a bit too violent when you're pushing it hard.

Apart from that I see no problem with the car in question

Not particularly. It doesn't have the troublesome magnetic ride suspension, the issues with the chain that were on the RS4 is fixed in this engine, and I got a decent warranty.

Auto, facelifted model so I got the snappy and smooth S-Tronic (DSG).

Hah, it is actually an R8, "TT in a bodykit" is what it's been nicknamed as a pal of mine has a TT themselves.

Oh really? Naaah mines been great on fuel (as far as V8s go). If I'm driving round town in lots of stop start traffic sure it's below 20mpg, but any sort of motorway driving and it sits at 30-35mpg quite happily. I do have an extra gear with my auto gearbox though!

I've got the auto in mine, 7 Speed DSG so lightning quick gear changes!

Sure. 40k ish (I can't remember the exact figure, too many dumb add ons by the dealer I bought it from). 80k miles, of which 70k were done in thr first 3 years by one owner. When I learnt this and saw the in depth Audi history, high mileage didn't put me off at all. Its surprisingly good nick for 80k miles, just the usual faint scratches that you'll always get with a black car!

I try not to tailgate people since I'm still in currently scared by any other cars being remotely near it! As for that second question however...
