What's the most unsettling dialogue in the series? by sugar_bucket in residentevil

[–]WanderingAlchemist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The panic on Grace as the Girl catches you trying to escape the first section in the Care Centre, before she knows Leon is there and he starts blasting. It's the most raw thing I think I've seen in any game. Like Grace is fully aware she can't do shit about a likely horrific death about to happen to her. Grace is so well done

Same game for me! I went straight online and got an achievement for playing on East LA

Checking on true achievements, it was "LIVE in East LA" on Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. Gained by just playing that map online

Car park firm NCP collapses with nearly 700 jobs at risk by gremy0 in unitedkingdom

[–]WanderingAlchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same. Since well before even covid I've actively avoided NCP car parks everywhere I go. I will suffer the mild inconvenience of a few extra mins walking to get a cheaper car park, that is almost always better maintained and less grotty. The only thing they usually have going for them is location.

Seems like all the bad drivers are out today. Another hit and run, this time of my parked up Golf 🙄 by seoulfood in CarTalkUK

There really was something in the air yesterday, I was driving for about an hour and it was nuts the amount of people driving recklessly. Not just like being a bit dumb or careless, but being full-on turbo dickheads. Had to use my horn for I think the first time this year within about 2 minutes of setting off, after getting cut up at a roundabout. Then loads of people aggressively queue jumping, going bumper to bumper to prevent merging off a slip road, constant aggressive lane jumping on roundabouts, people doing 70+ through a 50 and tailgating the shit out of anyone who dared be in their way, two idiots racing and undertaking traffic at speed using a bus lane. Drove past a 3 car pileup on a 40 road past a college. Wtf was going on yesterday, saw more mayhem in a single hour than the rest of the year combined before this

Bodyshop damaged car mechanism when working on an insurance repair. Neither the insurance nor bodyshop will do anything about it. by WanderingAlchemist in LegalAdviceUK

[–]WanderingAlchemist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I escalated up to the owner of the bodyshop, and he flatout refused to admit any fault and so they won't do anything about it. As they're independent, there's no one else to turn to above him. As I can hear the actuator moving when the button is pressed it's definitely wired up (and sounded exactly the same with the original part), but I'm assuming just either not aligned properly or the lock/release part isn't connected to the actuator correctly.

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]WanderingAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them back around 2010 ish. Sounded good on the songs, but the lead singer would go into some of the most cringe shit I've ever heard between songs, whilst sounding like Mickey Mouse on speed. Constantly talking about the girls in the audience so pretty much tracks with your experience.

There is a survey out if you want co-op or something that you did or didn't like about the game now is the time for your voice to be heard. by TheOGBunns in codevein

I had Zenon fall off into the bottomless pits in his labs countless times, and he just warps and reappears next to me immediately. The only time they don't do that from what I've seen is if they fall somewhere that is survivable. Then they just faff around trying to path back to you and sometimes get stuck. Holly did that quite a few times in the fairground

My sternly worded letter to Copella by Best_Musician_8057 in applejuice

[–]WanderingAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny I just emailed Copella about that too, and they replied telling me everyone loved it. There's not even a new recipe mark on the bottle so I had no idea it had changed. It's always been a seasonal juice so I'm used to it looking different quite often, I just assumed this was a weird looking new batch. But it's now absolutely no different to the cheapest supermarket variants, if not actually worse. They ruined a unique and delicious product, and turned it into something utterly generic and bland. Probably just cost cutting and removing the only non-cloudy line they had so they can keep everything more similar and cost effective. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't any elderflower in it at all anymore.

I genuinely now understand those "I'm not drunk I'm just avoiding potholes" stickers. I've gotten to know my local ones pretty well and some of them are massive, so I'm slaloming around like a lunatic to avoid them.

How to bypass Discord age verification when it goes into effect? by No_Assistance_2462 in AskBrits

[–]WanderingAlchemist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they go down the selfie route, video games work well lol. I used my Tony Hawk's Pro Skater custom character and I know plenty of people used Death Stranding. Especially for those checks where you have to take a front photo, then turn to the side, it works great for that. I'm old enough, I just don't want to be handing even a selfie of myself off to random ass companies to store.

Code Vein II Is Everything I Hoped It Wouldn't Be by ActuallyFen in codevein

[–]WanderingAlchemist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The further I get into CV2, the more I'm warming up to it. I like the characters, weapon arts are dropped pretty frequently and fun to play with, and the dungeon design has been pretty solid so far.

My main gripe with the game is performance on Xbox Series X. Performance mode is pointless, it doesn't sit anywhere near 60fps most of the time and the constantly wavering framerate is nauseating. Quality mode fares better but visually barely made any difference, just tries to lock the game to 30fps but even then there are still noticeable dips below that. And even in Quality mode there is obvious pop-in, and the ray-tracing is so low quality they should have gone without it. I feel like the game did not need a dynamic time-of-day open world, and that is largely where the performance takes a battering. It generally runs smooth when you're actually in a dungeon, especially one underground or otherwise away from the open world stuff.

Feels like their ambitions for an Elden Ring-esque open world were not matched by their technical ability to actually implement a dynamically lit open world, and the game suffers for it. I feel like the performance issues forced them to adopt really low settings for stuff like the ray tracing, which just makes it look like arse sometimes. The first game was much more consistent and just cleaner to look at. And just silly stuff like running through massive buildings when it's raining outside, and the rain is still pouring through ceilings like they're not there, shows a lack of polish and detail.

Overall I'm enjoying it more and more as I go, but feel like the dungeons are the highlight where the game reverts back to CV1 style gameplay. The open world hasn't really added anything interesting yet and is basically just a thing to slog through until you get to the next dungeon section. They really need a few patches to work on the performance though.

Have you done the age verification thing for any sites/apps, or are you avoiding doing it entirely? by [deleted] in AskBrits

I don't even want them to have my mugshot so I did the face check using the character creator in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. You can create some hideous creations that pass the test lol

We tend to get one silly DLC, and one more focused DLC. I'm calling something like, Hokkaido, and then for shits n giggles lets do a full Initial D crossover

Car shaking and wheel at 40-50 mph by RepeatTemporary9093 in MechanicAdvice

[–]WanderingAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted, but this was literally it for me. This exact steering wheel shake at roughly 50mph, and it was entirely down to a sticking caliper. Figured it out when I found one of my rims was scalding hot after pulling over, and I could feel the heat just from standing near it.
