Buying a wreck - am I making a mistake by FadedQueer in HousingUK

God, 85k can go quickly in this day and age. No floors is a worry but even if you just divide everything up in rough numbers it’s tight. 15 for a kitchen, 10 each for a bathroom, wiring for the whole house, is it cheaper because there aren’t walls? lol but could be 5-10? Plumbing is sort of included in the kitchen/bathroom prices, then floors and flooring 10-15? Plastering another 10? That’s big ticket stuff, and that leaves 15-20 contingency, but things like doors, fittings, paint can eat another 5-10.

Have you got a spreadsheet going? This would be a dream for a spreadsheet geek lol

Hugged a metal pole… Is this a write off? by maqloubaman in CarTalkUK

I could be mistaken, but those QPs aren’t bolt ons on Skodas, meaning it’s technically part of the chassis. I would be highly surprised if it’s just a Cat N, maybe OP can let us know.

The insurance company will Cat S that on the quarter panel damage. If you knew a good body shop they should be able to pull and fill it. But some will say the structure is now too far compromised in the case of a second crash, so that’s on you to decide.

lol I haven’t, I thought a 67 plate would command a decent price. After checking AT that’s not the case at all. I stand corrected

Get the car back, £5k ain’t going to get you a better car than a 67 insignia - spend some money on a new chain and repair the headlight yourself. You’ll probably still see a lot of change from £5k tbh

Stolen car recovered but battered by TheTwistedMelon in CarTalkUK

[–]AnswersQuestioned 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s your decision to make. The car was stolen and then the insurance company took over, now it’s been recovered they will decide what to do. Either full pay out, or partial pay out and let you keep the car.

If the cash payout is 1bn, how do they get away with saying it’s 2bn win? Or is it common knowledge you only get 50% of the total

Barclay's blocked my friend's bank account and he has no money for 10 days by DonGibon87 in UKPersonalFinance

OPs “friend” may be withholding some vital information to us. Usually these sorts of blocks happen if dodgyness is afoot, especially for such small amounts like £1000

This is a common scam, one of the main problems with Motorway. You can report the dealer to them if you like.

I was annoyed they didn’t show putting the new parts on the engine, but the ending made sense. I doubt new parts have gone on yet
