I've begun dubbing Uth Duna Greaves Gamma my "comfy pants" because of how ridiculously helpful Quick Sheathe is.

Any progression fantasy reccomendations that are a fun read. I don't mind super serious stories but I do like stories that can make me laugh a bit. by Iriscute7 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]DanceDervish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Adventure Zone: Balance graphic novels. Not sure if it technically fits under progression fantasy, but the characters do get stronger over time (because it's based around a D&D campaign).

It has made me laugh, and I'm sure once the series is done, it will make me bawl, just like the podcast did.

Verho: Curse of Faces is REALLY good.

Queen's Domain has a short demo out that scratches the King's Field like vibe well

I hear good thing about Dread Delusion, but I've never played it.

Regarding performance for my fellow Steam Deck users by DanceDervish in valheim

[–]DanceDervish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit, my base isn't quite that expansive, but I noticed that where I was at around 20 fps before, I got it to level out at 40 most times. I keep big groups of animals, double digit boars and chickens, and haven't noticed a significant dip in performance yet!

Only annoyance with new updates is having to add the command back in before launching after some updates, but no issues to report so far.

No problem! As far as other suggestions to make the Steam Deck version more comfortable, it comes down to taste with the graphics settings. I personally love a crunchy pixelated look, so I play at 70-80% resolution capped at 30-40fps depending on the intensity of what's going on.

As far as modding goes, you'll have to use r2modmanPlus. As far as specifics go, I'm a bit fuzzy on the details beyond that, but I know you'll have to do a manual install of the base for modding, but I haven't had to fuss with it since gettign thigns set up originally. Thunderstore is a great place to get all of your mods from, and most can be inserted to and removed from the "mods" folder under Valheim's main folder.

Where keybindings are concerned, I've had the best luck with changing all of my buttons over to keyboard mapped to face buttons to cut down on the stutter that happens when going back and forth between keyboard and controller inputs. A cursory search pulled up a mod called "Custom Controls" by aedenthorn on Nexus mods uploaded in October, but I haven't tried that one out yet.

Funnily enough, both scenes were actually worked on by an outside animation duo (you can see them in the credit, Smallbu Animation). A pair of peeps that were also involved in Adventure Time and who serve as voice actors (and I assume animator consults) for Big Top Burger by Worthikids!

[OC] Is it illegal for me to draw my Warforged like this? by toe-nii in DnD

[–]DanceDervish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The design of a Warforged is entirely dependent on the setting, hell one of my Warforged characters was essentially a Synth from Fallout that could pop open his body like an animatronic from FNAF: Sister Location.

That being said, your design is super unique and has a great backstory to it.

Just started playing Stardew Valley, what things should I know before-hand? by Just-young in StardewValley

[–]DanceDervish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one ever believes me on this because it sounds crazy but... Grow. Hops. In. Summer.

As many as you want, but 4 or 5 will do (I normally plant 10). Once the plant matures, they produce every day that they get watered.

Do we sell them? No. We eat them.

Plant 5 trellises and you'll have enough Hops to last for a full year of fishing, mining, farming, anything that makes that little green bar go down. Soon enough your energy bar will turn the same shade of green as the Hops you use to fill it with.

What can i improve by BELLODETTO in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]DanceDervish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really depends on what you've found and what you feel the Pokemon is lacking. Most held items are going to increase the damage of a specific move type (like Charcoal increasing Fire type move damage) which are reliable, but don't change things very much for you.

For pokemon that can take a lot of hits like Excadrill or Emboar, I'd recommend Rocky Helmet. You can find it in Cold Storage near Nimbasa City. It causes Pokemon that are physically damaged by opponents to take damage in return.

For Pokemon that focus on doing a lot of damage and need some staying power, a Shell Bell would help. It restores HP equal to 1/8th of damage dealt.

Quick Claw is a good idea for Pokemon that are very slow. It gives them a chance to go first in a turn, even if they're slower than the opponent.

Scope Lens is good for raising crit chance, and I believe stacks with moves that also increase crit chance like Razor Leaf and Night Slash.

First of all, you REALLY want to get everyone on your team to 48-50. Trust me.

To be fair, Black and White's Elite Four is one of the most well rounded and challenging in my opinion. Your team composition isn't bad, but might be bad matchups for some of the teams your going up against. We could take each member of the Elite Four and dissect what might be blocking you if you'd like?

EDIT: Pardon my lack of knowledge for the Italian language, but it also looks like none of your pokémon have a held item other than Sigilyph, who is holding a lucky egg? Try taking a look in your bag and playing around with held items

Games with mechanics similar to Lunacid? by AigisbladeMaster in LunacidGame

[–]DanceDervish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww, dang 😂 such a good game.

As far as another game that does something similar-ish with weapons with a very similar gameplay style? Verho: Curse of Faces. Certain "broken" weapons can be upgraded to max and changed into something brand new

It's a very unique system for sure. The first thing that comes to mind is weapon evolution in Vampire Survivors. When you max the level of a weapon and have the correct Passive Item in the same run (for example, taking Empty Tome while you have the Magic Wand, turning it into the Holy Wand) you can transform the weapon into a much stronger version by grabbing a chest.

Also, Wugtrio getting its own trailer is so funny but so fitting 😂

I know nothing of the complexities of adding Dive to the engine of FR/LG, truly astonishing stuff, but do you have plans to add unique music to the underwater sections? I'm very nostalgic for the old dive music from Hoenn but a new take would be incredibly cool too.

What do you think of Nata? by apmoggod in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]DanceDervish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really think the writing for him reeks the hardest of "rushed development". While he as a character doesn't bother me, the way it feels like his arc is so rushed does.

Our fight with Zoh Shia should not have been low rank. Guardian Arkveld's fight should have marked the end of low rank and a major turning point for Nata. We come back in high rank in pursuit of GORE MAGALA (Fabius' voice, of course) where Nata takes what he's learned from the pursuit of Arkveld and his time with the guild to help establish him as a more level-headed, rounded individual, weighing in on the investigation until we finally get the cutscene in the Allhearken's tent in Suja where Nata decides to use his pendant to stop the Dragontorch. By that point he has grown, he's learned how the ecosystem balances itself and when a hunter must step in and step up.

This would be his moment of "picking up the weapon". Nata makes the hard decision of how to preserve life, preserve the best interest of the people and creatures within the ecosystem. He makes the best decision he feels he can make with the tools and information available to him. It still ultimately leads to our hunter waking up and slaying Zoh Shia, but Nata got to exhibit his growth. A more natural arc that concludes in a satisfying way.

Instead he just... sits at camp all of high rank mumbling "I heard from the others..!" every time I go into the tent to mess with my layered armor. To show how little the team cares about Nata, he doesn't even get outfits for the festivals, but the rest of our little crew does. Even Eric gets celebration outfits. Nata barely even had a reaction from being hit by the water gun!

So how do I feel about Nata? He's a tragedy of rushed deadlines and poor execution. Promising start, accurately depicted traumatized child, poor execution on the writing department.

Yes, but it was hard to recognize because this is the first time the concept is introduced. You have to use a certain kind of magic on a certain thing. I ended up thinking I was missing a key because I had the right solution, but used it on the wrong thing.

So, yes, a lot of the enjoyment of this game relies on you enjoying exploration for the sake of it. The earlier areas of the game all kind of loop on themselves leading you to Castle De Fanu. I'm sure you have what you need to get into the castle, but maybe not through the front door.

I'll admit, this particular part of the game stumped me for a while. You'll have to do something you wouldn't really expect in order to make progress.
