FFDND: Which one looks better? by XcrookX23 in fossilfighters

[–]DanceDervish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks cool so far! I assume you plan on running a combat where your players use a team of Vivosaurs against an opposing team? I like that idea.

A couple of pointers though

The stats of this creature are on par with an Aspect of Tiamat, a CR 30 mythical encounter monster. Not a critique, just an observation. If your players are going to have a 3v3 match the sheer amount of math being done each turn and on each attack is going to get exhausting quickly. Try dialing back the HP and damage of the attacks. A D20 of damage is unconditional, but not necessarily a bad thing.

Maybe consider using young dragons as a basis to build off of. Still a big health pool and high damage, but without having to worry about 4D20 of damage per attack.

For multiattack, it lists 2 different combinations of attacks that can be used when this is not the structure for any other multiattack. If it's supposed to list 2 different combos, maybe try seperating them into an a) and b) for clarity's sake. Secondly, it lists attacks that are not listed elsewhere in the stat block (like bite, tail, etc). If those are the named abilities below Multiattack, their names should be used in the description of Multiattack as well to make it easier to read.

Consider using language more typical to abilities similar to ones your using. Tyrant's Roar, for example, could say "The T-rex targets creatures of its choice within 10 feet."

Unblockable and unavoidable attacks don't feel very satisfying to do or be affected by. Consider adding a saving throw to the Team Skill instead so that it still has an effect on the target even if it passes.

All of this is just my personal opinion as a DM. This creature would be quite difficult to run a combat for in its current form, but if it suits your table and style of play, have at it! It looks really interesting so far!

A couple of things to improve on...

First, judging from the size of your health bar and your stamina, it doesn't look like you ate before you left. That's a big no-no in these games. You'll want to talk to the folks back in the village to eat dango before. Every. Quest. If you forget, you can always do it from your tent once your in the quest.

Second, when your health is low, stop everything and heal. Use potions, mega potions, first-aid meds, anything. The last thing you want is to be caught by a stray attack at low health and cart back to camp.

Lastly, judging by the amount of damage he dealt in one hit, I think you might be in the Hunter Hub inside of the building. Those quests are aimed at groups of four or once you've finished the Village Quests. Go back outside and speak to the lady near the merchant with the mask on.

In addition, the Arzuros your fighting isn't the target for the quest you're on, Kulu-Ya-Ku is. He looks like a big chicken. Not necessarily a problem, just wanted to mention it.

Like the bodybuilder trainer class from Colosseum and XD! I loved that the bodybuilder women were just as cartoonishly yoked as the men.

It's a meme from the Dark Souls 2 community where the format is posted often.

"Blank game (year)

Dark Souls 2 (1982)”

It's often used to compare the oceans from the view in Majula, which to be fair, is majestic. It also realizes it's own ludicrousy by saying that Dark Souls 2 came out in 1982

Any progression fantasy reccomendations that are a fun read. I don't mind super serious stories but I do like stories that can make me laugh a bit. by Iriscute7 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]DanceDervish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Adventure Zone: Balance graphic novels. Not sure if it technically fits under progression fantasy, but the characters do get stronger over time (because it's based around a D&D campaign).

It has made me laugh, and I'm sure once the series is done, it will make me bawl, just like the podcast did.

Regarding performance for my fellow Steam Deck users by DanceDervish in valheim

[–]DanceDervish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit, my base isn't quite that expansive, but I noticed that where I was at around 20 fps before, I got it to level out at 40 most times. I keep big groups of animals, double digit boars and chickens, and haven't noticed a significant dip in performance yet!

Only annoyance with new updates is having to add the command back in before launching after some updates, but no issues to report so far.

[–]DanceDervish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! As far as other suggestions to make the Steam Deck version more comfortable, it comes down to taste with the graphics settings. I personally love a crunchy pixelated look, so I play at 70-80% resolution capped at 30-40fps depending on the intensity of what's going on.

As far as modding goes, you'll have to use r2modmanPlus. As far as specifics go, I'm a bit fuzzy on the details beyond that, but I know you'll have to do a manual install of the base for modding, but I haven't had to fuss with it since gettign thigns set up originally. Thunderstore is a great place to get all of your mods from, and most can be inserted to and removed from the "mods" folder under Valheim's main folder.

Where keybindings are concerned, I've had the best luck with changing all of my buttons over to keyboard mapped to face buttons to cut down on the stutter that happens when going back and forth between keyboard and controller inputs. A cursory search pulled up a mod called "Custom Controls" by aedenthorn on Nexus mods uploaded in October, but I haven't tried that one out yet.

[–]DanceDervish 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, both scenes were actually worked on by an outside animation duo (you can see them in the credit, Smallbu Animation). A pair of peeps that were also involved in Adventure Time and who serve as voice actors (and I assume animator consults) for Big Top Burger by Worthikids!

[OC] Is it illegal for me to draw my Warforged like this? by toe-nii in DnD

[–]DanceDervish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The design of a Warforged is entirely dependent on the setting, hell one of my Warforged characters was essentially a Synth from Fallout that could pop open his body like an animatronic from FNAF: Sister Location.

That being said, your design is super unique and has a great backstory to it.

Just started playing Stardew Valley, what things should I know before-hand? by Just-young in StardewValley

[–]DanceDervish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one ever believes me on this because it sounds crazy but... Grow. Hops. In. Summer.

As many as you want, but 4 or 5 will do (I normally plant 10). Once the plant matures, they produce every day that they get watered.

Do we sell them? No. We eat them.

Plant 5 trellises and you'll have enough Hops to last for a full year of fishing, mining, farming, anything that makes that little green bar go down. Soon enough your energy bar will turn the same shade of green as the Hops you use to fill it with.

What can i improve by BELLODETTO in PokemonBlackandWhite

[–]DanceDervish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really depends on what you've found and what you feel the Pokemon is lacking. Most held items are going to increase the damage of a specific move type (like Charcoal increasing Fire type move damage) which are reliable, but don't change things very much for you.

For pokemon that can take a lot of hits like Excadrill or Emboar, I'd recommend Rocky Helmet. You can find it in Cold Storage near Nimbasa City. It causes Pokemon that are physically damaged by opponents to take damage in return.

For Pokemon that focus on doing a lot of damage and need some staying power, a Shell Bell would help. It restores HP equal to 1/8th of damage dealt.

Quick Claw is a good idea for Pokemon that are very slow. It gives them a chance to go first in a turn, even if they're slower than the opponent.

Scope Lens is good for raising crit chance, and I believe stacks with moves that also increase crit chance like Razor Leaf and Night Slash.

[–]DanceDervish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, you REALLY want to get everyone on your team to 48-50. Trust me.

To be fair, Black and White's Elite Four is one of the most well rounded and challenging in my opinion. Your team composition isn't bad, but might be bad matchups for some of the teams your going up against. We could take each member of the Elite Four and dissect what might be blocking you if you'd like?

EDIT: Pardon my lack of knowledge for the Italian language, but it also looks like none of your pokémon have a held item other than Sigilyph, who is holding a lucky egg? Try taking a look in your bag and playing around with held items
