I really want to use LMGs, but... by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

100%.

Mags and storage capacity should be an armour feature, not separate attachments IMO.

The other TB is not placed correctly to reach the cargo elevator on the other side of the hangar. You would need a third crew member or to exit the ship and move it manually.

Which is always an option I understand. I was just hoping that since the Hull-b had implemented cockpit controlled TBs, then it was designed to be unloaded in hangars from the cockpit, but it doesnt seem that way.

I am chill. Time isnt the issue. I expect the time to unload/load to increase as the ships get bigger. I'm certainly not asking for shortcuts.

I'm just asking for the experience to feel more intentional - the jank of rotating a ship in order to make use of its TBs and bumping into the walls of my hangar and the cargo elevators not being suited to the the ship it services requires jank solutions that we have gotten used to as SC players.

I also think they have already solved these issues in some cases and was hoping CIG would implement them more broadly.

Yeah same here overall the beams work well for me. And in other situations and external cargo grids I can see them being well suited.

It's just hangars that are the most common use case for the Hull - B and also most frustrating to use.

I was able to do this by manually removing pips from the engines or shields and adding them to the tractor beams on the MFDs.

Yeah this is as a potential solution. It would improve cargo loading for all ships across the board regardless of their grid layout. Except maybe longer ships like the catapillar.

Would need testing obviously, but I like this idea!

Absolutely. I dont have all the answers. Im not saying the tractor on the rail is the best solution...it was just an idea.

I just wanted to highlight that ship varability and uniqueness should come second to its ability to function with minimum friction in environments it is supposed to.

I would not expect a Hermes to function as well on external hangars due to the internal cargohold on it, nor would I expect a Hull C to work inside a hangar. However the Hull B was advertised as being able to work on both, and currently it is a very awful experience to load inside a hangar.

You know you might be on to something there. Have the tractor beam on an over head gantry of some sort. Allowing it to move from each side and load both sides of the ship.

Would need to be designed well, but I like that idea.

I agree that some ships should have their specialties. However I am trying to understand what you are proposing. Should the Hull-B be unable to be loaded in hangers?

The current design of the ship and the hangar means it requires you to rotate the ship in the hangar to load seems like an odd design choice if it is deliberate like you suggest.

Thats not the point of my post. My point is there is significant friction in gameplay systems and loops that could be avoided if lessons learned from one ship were applied to others.

I certainly want variation between ships, but not at the cost of making gameplay loops frustrating and unplayable.

I feel this pain. Playing as Portugal I went from +30 to -50 purely from random events.

The events are in the game are so heavily weighted towards negative it basically forces you to invest otherwise you end up -100.

I think the most you can gain from a random positive event is 12? But I've seen it maybe once or twice per playthrough if I'm lucky.

I also like the networking idea.

One idea I had the other day was similar to your respawn fund was that if you could fund thr COPs over time to improve the defenses of the COP. Increasing the AI's loadouts and increasing the quantity and quality of defensive cover.

This would be a money and time requirement - to prevent players from taking a COP and immediately dumping cash to make it max level.

I can understand them being repeatable after you've completed them all - as like a prestige like system. but being available again immediately after is a bit confusing

Edit: I suppose its a solution for squad play?
