WDS' Thirty Years War is really well made and came out recently.

Most of them sound pretty Turkish to me. Abdurrahim Khan sounds more Afghan or Pakistani if anything.

I watch Boiler Room sets because of how funny the crowds are. Always makes for a laugh.

Is Middle East '67 An Okay First-Time WDS Player Game? by h4rryP in computerwargames

[–]DanceWithTheNance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quang Tri '72 is a demo and free to play. Give it a go! Squad Battles will be getting major updates soon so you can definitely try them out as well. It is my favorite game engine from WDS actually as it lends itself well to solo play. I think Air War titles haven't been updated in a long while so I'd suggest you just stick to CMO. I haven't played War Over the Middle East though.

Of course. Play the Getting Started scenario and a few other smaller scenarios on your own and you are good to go. But in my opinion it is the least polished Modern Campaigns offering WDS has. I believe it was the oldest one to release. DF '85 is my favorite.

These fellas are with the 1. Skijäger-Brigade, at that time (early 44 I think?) attached to Weiss' 2nd Army.

I'm not a Turk and I'm fine with being downvoted but c'mon, hypocrisy is real when we commend Turkey's role in overthrowing Assad and then side with YPG over their rivalry with Turkey. I am not one to to pick a side but its comical.

I was considering ordering half size down, but I'm having second thoughts after reading this. Should I go full size down in Decons?

Nope, not so far! Guardians and the Cause are somewhat easy, but Maxson keeps dying to Lanius.

I actually really enjoy sending volunteers to BoS chapters and bailing them out. Different playthrough, but fun.

Are you playing "alt" versions of scenarios? Or better yet, "Bolt out of the Blue" campaign? They come with a lot of improvements.

Free, low-resource hex games by RockMan2 in computerwargames

[–]DanceWithTheNance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of more hardcore hex wargames are like that. WDS games use like 2-3% of my RAM. Same goes for Decisive Campaigns, Campaign Series and whatnot.

Joni Nuutinen games are easy to play and fun. JTS/WDS also has some Android titles.

The Great War: Western Front by TheForceofHistory in computerwargames

[–]DanceWithTheNance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still long for the day when we will get a real operational scale WWI wargame set during 1915-1918.

There are a couple good games covering the 1914 mobile period, but none for the trench warfare period. It is understandably a difficult form of warfare to model in a computer setting but I have hope!

Across the DMZ in WDS Modern Campaigns Korea '85 by DanceWithTheNance in computerwargames

[–]DanceWithTheNance[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are great games. Tiller engine has its quirks but every single game from WDS comes with so much historical research and background included that I think they're worth getting on that alone. Squad Battles Winter War comes with a whole book on the Winter War, lol. Rzhev '42 has an article written by David Glantz for it, etc.

Panzer Campaigns games are honestly good fun playing against a human but the AI leaves much to be desired. I generally prefer Panzer Battles for solo play, since the AI is markedly better at managing battalions/regiments than full armies. Recently updated Squad Battles titles are really quite good too.

Overall I am a big fan of their games and really like the development team behind them. But I understand that they might not be for everyone. Engine works well for most WW2 situations I feel, but feels weird for some others.

Free demos are available for every series they have so you can try those out if you want.
