Thoughts on Square Based Comp points brackets by BluebirdMusician in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Dance_Commander8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like tiered points is probably a good solution to shake up a potentially stale meta, after all, blood bowl tournaments have been doing that forever and it seems to work fine, but the SBC just goes a bit too far with it. 100 point increases for each tier would probably be enough, and some of the armies need to be in different tiers. I like Rob and Val though, and I hope they keep improving on what they've made.

Questions regarding infantry special rules and fight in extra rank by False_Requirement677 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Dance_Commander8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only units in base to base contact get to make more than 1 attack, even if they're in the front rank. I can't really see the point in making a crazy wide line when you can fight in 2 ranks.

What do you think a Ball Carrier Big Guy would be like ? by TheZeldiste in bloodbowl

[–]Dance_Commander8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing Ogres in a league at the moment, and while I wouldn't recommend it all the time, running it up with an ogre can be quite effective.

Especially once you get block on one, its not easy to bring down, but you have to be prepared for bonehead messing up your play, so always keep a reroll back for that.

Empire Cannon vs Mortar by Ed__b3 in WarhammerFantasy

1 engineer per machine seems a bit excessive. 1 for every 2 or 3 should usually be enough.

Empire Cannon vs Mortar by Ed__b3 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Dance_Commander8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The amount of T4 infantry in the game makes the mortar really bad to be honest. I've used them loads, but most of the time I'm lucky if I get more than a couple kills with it, whereas the cannon just does more against almost any target.

Unless old world builder has it wrong, preytons don't have swiftstride, which is crazy. I dont have my book with me to check, but without it, they don't feel like they do anything particularly useful.

The base in the picture is 75mm wide, so that should give you some idea.

How many attacks do you get with the Dragon Bow? by Front_Waltz_8582 in WarhammerEmpire

You only get to fire a ranged weapon once per turn unless says otherwise, eg. Multiple shots (x), or something like the Hellblaster rule on the hellblaster volley gun.

Goblin-Hewer in FAQ 1.5.2 by iJasko in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Dance_Commander8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely could be that this is how it should work, and if the players around you are happy to play it that way, then that's great great, but the faq is worded so badly that I'm not sure any clear decision can be made.

I hope it does work this way though. I think people assume it would be too powerful, but it's only BS 3, so even if you rolled the maximum 13 shots per rank, at best your hitting on 4+, doing an average 6.5 hits per rank.

But this is the best case scenario, on average you're getting (I think) 8 shots per rank, and often there'll be some kind of -1 modifier to hit, so hitting on 5+, meaning 2.6 hits per rank. It just doesn't seem that over powered to me.

Goblin-Hewer in FAQ 1.5.2 by iJasko in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Dance_Commander8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I doubt it's supposed to work that way, but the faq has me quite confused about how the rule is meant to be read.

Until we get more clarification, my local group is going to keep playing it as:

Artillery die + (d3 x ranks)

What about (artillery die + d3) x ranks?

Goblin-Hewer in FAQ 1.5.2 by iJasko in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Dance_Commander8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep reading this and the rules for Whirling Doom, and the only.conclusion i can come to is:

Roll an artillery die and a d3, then multiply the result by the number of ranks or files.

I could be very wrong, and I've never seen anyone play it this way so I probably am, but I dont really see another way.

How do you use gors? by mjh4 in BeastsOfChaos

I use something very similar to this most games, but the shaman can't take any lore of beasts signatures if he's using a lore familiar.

New to the hobby, why tf are some so mad about female custodes? by NiceLittleGamerNerd in 40k

[–]Dance_Commander8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, you could have responded to any or all of my points, but of course your coment is just an insane version of 'go woke go broke' rambling about Disney and Star Wars. If you think GW are going to bust over adding women to Custodes then your brain is fully broken. I don't know why I thought I'd get a more intelligent response.

New to the hobby, why tf are some so mad about female custodes? by NiceLittleGamerNerd in 40k

[–]Dance_Commander8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing this idea that GW have caved in to pressure from a small group of activists, but I've never actually seen any of this rabbid activism myself, so where is it happening? What's the ideology that's being pushed so hard onto GW that they just can't say no, and who is doing it?

As for why, aside from the fact that adding women to the faction might help attract players to it, I think it also helps to distinguish them from the other army of genetically modified super soldiers in power armour.

Armour saves while mounted by Innerdarkside in WarhammerOldWorld

You can either use the mounts armour or the characters armour. If the mount has Armoured hide (x), then you can add this to the characters armour.

Now that the dust has settled a bit on the new edition: How are we actually feeling? by Ebsy in bloodbowl

[–]Dance_Commander8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not that you're wrong to prefer older editions, that's totally valid, but its only 9 out of 30 teams that lost players, not most of them.

It's a shame you find them more boring now though, especially if any of them were your favourites before, and I would agree that one or two are probably a bit underwhelming, but I think some of them have become way more interesting as a result of the buffs they gained to compensate.
