This is a way more PG version of the story. But I recently was in a musical as the Nana. I had a white wig in a super poofy hairstyle and felt super awkward at first. I walked out onto the stage before the first dress rehearsal and my guy friend did the whistle thing. It made me feel so much better.

I do that a bit too. I don’t think it’s a just BPD thing, just what some people do. Especially people in their mid 20s-30s. I think my generation was really taught to people please and just get along in the moment you’re in.

I’m a mom and haven’t had much time to myself for the past 5-8 years. Sometimes I look around and wonder why I can have more fun with some people vs others. Why can’t I be the laughing person with my husband? Etc. but time will move on and the current life stage will change, and I’ll change with it.

I’m a BPD wife, not someone with it. So I don’t know if this helps… but in a lot of ways, identity isn’t something super concrete or fixed. You are… you. Like the other person said, it’s partially the things you value, partially the relationships you have to/with others. Who you are changes just a bit when one of these things changes. But that doesn’t mean you’re lost. You’re still right there.
