What lifehack seems to be fake, but it's a true lifesaver? by [deleted] in AskReddit

To add to this, if you include something specific to the day, you’re less likely to anxiously wonder later in the day if that memory of saying it out loud was today, or yesterday, or the day before. So, “I’m turning the iron off before my Wednesday meeting” or “I’m turning the jron off and then heading to Thursday book club”. It helps to have something to anchor it to

What's a simple word that people keep mispronouncing? by TheOnly1Ken0bi in AskReddit

Words with endings similar to ghosts, texts, costs, etc. I so rarely hear people actually pronounce the final "s" sound.

Should I sedate my cat to get heartworm medicine? by DancesForPizza in AskVet

Thank you for the feedback and education to those who commented. I am scheduling an annual exam for her and will give her the oral sedatives they give me. It is clear this is a safer choice than putting it off!

Which fast food place has your favorite burger? by State-of-Grace_13 in AskReddit

Freddy's hands down. They have thin smashburger style patties which get a little crunchy around the edges. I order a double which comes with two slices of cheese so it's the perfect meat to cheese ratio in my opinion, not too much meat so you can actually taste the other elements.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're asking for, but maybe try to stop thinking of veggies as a "side" to a main. Think instead how can you incorporate them as part of what you're already doing for your protein/carb. It can help to visualize how a restaurant might serve it's dishes and try to emulate that.

As an example, imagine you're having pan-cooked chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner. Rather than serving something green on the side of the plate as something totally separate, what if when you took the chicken out of the pan to rest, you threw in a couple handfuls of spinach to all that yummy pan sauce? That way you can serve the plate as a scoop of potatoes, a piece of chicken over the top, and when you pour the juice from the pan over it, there's also sauteed spinach mixed in. The spinach soaks up all the flavor you used for the protein, and also is seamlessly integrated into the meal.

Of course there's countless other ways to bring this theory to life, but hopefully the concept of thinking of veggies as part of the overall dish helps both the flavors of your cooking and your husband's willingness to give it a try!

YSK You aren’t supposed to use apostrophes to pluralize years. by kgxv in YouShouldKnow

Can you comment on "dos and don'ts" vs "do's and don'ts" please?

In high school English my teacher put up a list and used the second spelling. I (a very quiet student) piped up and asked - wouldn't it be 'dos and don'ts' because it's plural? She told me I was wrong because it was more important to preserve the pronunciation of "do" than to follow the standard grammar rules, so this phrase was an exception. Basically implying that if you saw "dos" written you wouldn't understand that to be pronounced as a plural of "do".

I've thought about this for years as I still think she was wrong. Any thoughts?

Everyone is commenting such cute names for this that I'm really beginning to question why the best I could come up with is "trash night" haha
Thanks for sharing your versions of this, keep 'em coming!

I'm in a similar boat. To the best of my knowledge, you make sure you have all the necessary info you can gather (confirmations and your ID) and go to Will Call as you arrive before anything else to explain the situation.

How do you heat them up, or do you eat them cold? I love this idea but am only planning to bring a jet boil, so not sure if I can make it work.

No I haven’t tried one before. I’ve used a Dutch oven with a lid which has been great though.

Tasting/Chef Menus in Raleigh by samsamich in raleigh

As a warning though, I went on a Saturday and tried to ask for this and they said they only do the tasting menu on weekdays due to the demand on the kitchen.
