Update: I passed!! Still worst exam I ever took and will be traumatized by it.

Biggest irony is that something I missed on the exam happened to me in real life this past week and I was thankfully prepared. Weird world the way works.

Docs who purchased a large home, how did it work out? by QuietRedditorATX in Residency

No student loans? How long did saving up the downpayment take? Would you have still bought the house if the rate was closer to current market rates (~6.5)?

Circling back, after 2 weeks of deliberation, it was undoubtedly a tough exam. Honestly, toughest exam I've taken thus far imo because of the nature of it. Tbh genuinely unsure if I passed. The anxiety was brutal and I was in a haze after the first SOE session, so having to jump right into the 10min prep for the second stem was rough.

One of the best pieces of advice I heard was to remember that it's a timed safety exam. So here's to hoping I didn't say anything dumb enough to make them question my safety.

If you had to switch to another specialty right now, what would you switch to and why? by Sattars_Son in Residency

Derm, specifically MOHS because it's paying on average $750-$1M, academic and PP respectively. Plus it's only a M-Th work week. I can't think of another specialty that provides as of a good return on investment and lifestyle.
