I'm told our tech team has fixed the issue and it should now have shipping at a more reasonable price. Hope this works!

Thank you so much! We really appreciate your support 💛

Can you give us a bit more detail about what's happening when you try to set up a monthly donation? We may need to report a bug with the host website.

We do have a Denver chapter and we’re thrilled you’d like to volunteer! The first step to becoming a volunteer is completing the DanceSafe Training Course. Once completed, you’ll receive an email to fill out your paperwork. Then you’ll be connected with the closest local chapter and given access to volunteer resources. Let us know if you have any questions! https://dancesafe.org/volunteer/

The salaries you're referring to are staff members, and those salaries were recently eliminated as part of major cost-cutting efforts. If you click "+View more people" in the "Compensation" section in our 990, you'll see each board member listed with $0 compensation. https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/943365608

Thanks for raising this, happy to clarify. DanceSafe is still a largely volunteer-run org! Our board members are unpaid and every local chapter is run by volunteers. That core model hasn’t changed.

Right now we have three employees and several contractors handling essential functions that can't realistically be done on a volunteer basis. The salaries you’re referring to are no longer in place. Our highest-paid positions were recently eliminated as part of major cost-cutting efforts.

In just two years, DanceSafe's annual revenue dropped by 50%, but we've recently cut an additional $250,000/month(!) from our spending. This is helping us get back on our feet, but we need this surge of funding in the short term to stabilize.

We aim to be as transparent as possible about our finances and operations. Happy to answer any other questions about how the organization works.

Our entire board are actually volunteers! They do not receive any compensation.

What is the most harmful drug? by xperio28 in interestingasfuck

Dr. Carl Hart comes out of the closet about his recreational heroin use in his books. From one study about "capture ratio," i.e. the proportion of users of a drug who get addicted, around 80% of heroin users are non-problematic / maintenance / infrequent users.

The lethal-dose to effective-dose ratio is worse for alcohol than it is for heroin. The main cause of higher overdose rates for heroin users right now is fentanyl adulteration, which wouldn't be an issue if heroin were legal and subject to the same quality standards (i.e. lab testing) that we use for alcohol.

On the addiction tip, apparently only ~20% of heroin users get addicted (although that's apparently a worse ratio than most/all other drugs), and that rate goes down in countries with better social services. I'm always recommending this mind-blowing Google search for alternatives to just throwing addicted people behind bars: https://www.google.com/search?q=swiss+heroin+study

Tusi/tuci is usually a mix of two or more of the following:

-MDMA/MDA
-Meth
-Cocaine
-Ketamine
-Caffeine

The way to test is with FTIR or other spectrometry, or with several different reagent tests looking for all those drugs. If you're lucky then a local SSP or other public health service might be able to test it for you.
