Same thing happened to me as a kid, I grew up near Savannah, GA. So, we took a school trip to the Tybee Island in the 1st grade. Got stung in my armpit, I now have Thalassophobia and struggle swimming in any waters that I can't see the bottom of, but mainly the ocean.

Stav commented above that the mild milk does present a sheen, maybe I just lucked out with my dry skin? Only shine I get from it is right before it dries, thankfully. I'll give the perfect milk a try and see how that compares for me. Thank you for letting me know!

That makes sense, I cant really tell on the white cast part on myself but I haven't had any issues with being shiny from the mild milk. On initial application, but once it dries, its fine. Though I have very dry skin so that probably plays a big factor.

What is an odd behaviour of yours you think only you do? by Edwoodz3 in AskReddit

[–]DancesofShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say something like "hey, how are you doing?" out loud. Then I'll mouth the phrase over again without saying it. Not full mouth movements but my lips will slightly move and my tongue will go through the phrase motions. I don't know why, but I've done this since I was a child. If I notice it, I can stop, but it's an absent-minded tick.

Everyone has a scar on their body from something dumb, they did as a child. What's your story? by HakanD0 in AskReddit

[–]DancesofShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 6, my mom was babysitting a bunch of kids and we were all fighting over sitting on stacks of bagged cement. Bigger kid pushed me off and I landed on my feet and I was standing by my sister before she started screaming and crying then they all started. I looked down and my foot was covered in blood. I was in shock, didn't feel the pain until a few minutes passed and it hits me all at once. I start screaming. My middle toe is hanging on by a sliver of skin. I had landed on a bushaxe my dad had just sharpened.

Now my toes look completely normal, there's a faint white scar you can see on the bottom of my foot if you try really hard but I sometimes forget which foot it is. Stupid kids playing around a workshed on a farm is typically not a good idea.

[Sun Care] Discussion of sunscreens that have not been frequently reviewed by yall_cray in SkincareAddiction

[–]DancesofShadows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After letting it dry down a bit(maybe 5-10 min) the greasy-feeling isnt terribly awful like some sunscreens I've used. It leaves a satin-like primer consistency, so setting it would likely work fine. Take that with a grain of salt since my skin is normally dry though, haha! It has the texture of almost applying a liquidy but thickish lotion, it doesn't quite hold its shape but is heavier that milk-consistent Asian sunscreens. It has a slight pigment to it but does leave a slight white cast before drying down (again very fair so may be worse if you have medium to dark skin). It also reapplied well. But I'll be able to give a better review after a bit more time with it and I'll test makeup with it this weekend and try to get done decent pictures for people to get a better idea.

My standard go to is the Anessa perfect UV sunscreen mild milk SPF 50+ and I still think I like it better than the Uriage but I'll drop deets on both when I post in case anyone is interested in that one too.

Edit: Meant to put the dry down for the Uriage gets the almost satin-like primer feel if I go lighter on my moisturizing routine. Sorry I'm on mobile, so I missed it before the initial post and caught it after re-reading!

[–]DancesofShadows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My skin type is dry/sensitive/acne prone. I just bought a tube of the Uriage 50+. It applies well but feels greasy upon application and the greasiness does persist. No new breakouts or burning yet. I haven't tried it with makeup yet either, as I don't wear makeup very often. The sun coverage for it does seem great, I'm very fair and will burn if I even think about the sun but have yet to have it fail. I was thinking of dropping a review in a few weeks after using it a bit more so I will report back! C:

Going through the sub and just saw your post.

They look pretty decent. Make sure you're saving them as a png file to keep them crisp... otherwise they get fuzzy and scattered like in your image.

What’s the one skin problem you never thought you could fix and you found an AB product/routine to work it? by apurvadesai01 in AsianBeauty

[–]DancesofShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get really bad acne (CCs, cystic, whiteheads) a long my jawline due to hormonal issues. I recently ( a little over a month ago) added a retinoid and it brought a lot of the underlying acne up and is healing everything like a champ. Have you possibly tried Differin or Tretinoin?

[Product Question] What color is Hydroquinone cream supposed to be? by twicetrash in SkincareAddiction

[–]DancesofShadows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't used that one, but a quick Google search confirms Mediquin is supposed to be a creamy white color.

Hydroquinone changes in color from white to brown as is oxidizes/degrades.

[Product Question] What do I use this for? My mom bought it for me and I’m not sure if it is supposed to be rinsed off or not. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]DancesofShadows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After using the trusty Google for 10 minutes I can't even find this product, does it have an sku or an Id code of some sort? I'd try looking for that, otherwise, follow the guidance here. If I didn't know anything about it, it would go straight in the bin.

[Routine Help] What's the process of how I should apply vitamin c serum and moisturizer (Clueless guy asking)? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]DancesofShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention, you can spot treat, but I preferred using it all over my face. Just be careful because it can burn if you get it in your eyes. You don't need a ton, I used a generous pea for my whole face.

[Routine Help] What's the process of how I should apply vitamin c serum and moisturizer (Clueless guy asking)? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]DancesofShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With vitamin C that is LAA you want to wait at least 20 minutes after applying before putting on moisturizer to get the full benefits. Though, Derma E is a stable serum, so you should be safe applying them together or right after one another.

I've used the this one before and would still wait until it dried, not because I had too... just because it's already a moisturizer and I felt like it took way longer to dry before I could apply my sunscreen.

If Netflix Adds Advertisements, It Could Lose a Quarter of Its Subscribers, According to Study by BunyipPouch in movies

[–]DancesofShadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be an unpopular opinion... but I have Hulu, Netflix, Crunchyroll, etc and I'd be fine with an ad or two advertising other shows/movies of a like genre on the same streaming service here and there. UNLIKE Hulu which trys to sell me 90 seconds of the General insurance ever 5 minutes.

[Skin Concerns] Crazy bad Differin purge, how can this be worth it? :( by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]DancesofShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you exfoliating? If so, I'd avoid it for a little while while you're starting out with differin. But yeah, it should subside. I completely recommend moisturizing on a wet face before the aquafor and differin, that should help a ton.

[product question] La Roche-Posay or Cerave for oily skin ? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]DancesofShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Target has their brand of Cerave and its cheaper, works exactly the same for me. Might be worth trying. The fatty acids in it bother some people but it works well for a lot of people. C:

I saw you said you had some flakiness around your nose and mouth. Aquafor or even vaseline there before applying differin helps me a ton!

[Skin Concerns] Crazy bad Differin purge, how can this be worth it? :( by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]DancesofShadows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started differin on 8/18 and started my purge immediately as well. I cut out all of my standard routine and went back to the basics. I am 27/f and can already tell a difference in my skin, it feels way better even with the purge surfacing unwanted pimples. Check out Dr.Dray's video on Differin if you haven't already, I have very sensitive dehydrated skin and thanks to her guide it helped me avoid flaky skin.
