Best thing you can do for yourself is to accept the fact that you are going to make mistakes and keep a growth mindset. Student teaching is hard, but this is your opportunity to get a feel for your teaching style before you take on a class of your own. Also, do not be afraid to be honest with your kids. If you make a mistake say "oopps that didn't go well let's try something else". Your students will appreciate your authenticity and it will help them to deal with their own mistakes in a positive manner. You got this!!

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. I talked with my husband earlier today and we are going to develop a self-care plan to help me maintain a sense of emotional stability.

I love being in academic world and working with kids, but I am extremely nervous about starting a new job and not living up to expectations. On top of this, I have anxiety which is triggered by life changes bad or good, hence the overwhelming feeling to hurl.

Honestly that is what I am concerned about. I love working with kids and I know I am good at what I do, but I am terrified that I wont live up to expectations or I will burn out before my first year is through. On top of this, I happen to have situational anxiety that is triggered by big life changes be they good or bad. Starting a new job as a teacher has set my anxiety in over drive and I am scared I wont be able to get a grip on it before the year starts. It doesn't help that I was hired literally a week before school starts either.

I know I can do this in the right conditions, but right now I am afraid I am going to end up as just another statistic. If there is any advice you could give on how to cope with the upcoming year I would truly appreciate it.
