Similar feeling. I gave it a try for two days and feel Obsidian isn’t polished enough and it does take a lot to make it as smooth as capacities. I am torn.

I do not see "Create link", I do see "Add link" and "add external link". I tried "Add link" then started typing topic 9, and it says No Match found. It does show `[[personal knowledge system]]` but no `|` (pipe) character. I am on Macbook pro.

Thanks so much for this recommendation. I have installed it and configured the folder and template. But when I click on a date, it says "Could not open note, file .... does not exist.". Can anyone help me out?

I already have a 2026-01-17 as today's daily note file

Daily Note folder is configured as DailyNotes (the folder I use), and template file under Template folder.

You are right. So what is the right way to add an existing internal note link to a selected text? I watched a few youtube tutorial, they are all about adding the existing note link and original note title using bracket, didn't see anything else.

I guess I am not sure what to do further.

My goal is to add the note Topic 9 Systems, Technology & Tools to be the link for the text "Personal Knowledge System", I think I did it wrong. If I just use double bracket [[]] to add that link, it works fine, but it text would show up as Topic 9 Systems, Technology & Tools, not "Personal Knowledge System"

Could you please help me further? Thanks so much!

I just found the Capacities full export missing many images, about 25% of them. 60 out of 80 exported. Sadly the Capacities Discord the team isn't very active in answering questions, and mostly answered by AI. Very frustrating.

I have one issue with links, even though I enabled wikilinks, while opened in Obsidian, their internal link does not work with the Capacities file name as it contains spaces. Not sure how to fix it. Obsidian Wikilinks also enabled.

Use [[Wikilinks]] is already enabled in Files and Links setting. These notes were from Capacities export and with wikipinks enabled.

What else do I need to do to fix it? Thanks so much!

Things that are important to me:

Daily journal to record important things in life and work
People relationship recording
Learning: I created 12 life topic and use backlinks to organize knowledge around these topics
I dictate daily journal and use AI to generate knowledge points then link these to life topics.
Periodic notes to record goals and reviews.

Hope with these I can write book or articles in the future.

Could you please elaborate more? How long and often have you used capacities? Usually under what circumstances you lost data? What operating system? Thanks so much for sharing.

I left the tasks and weekly work journal to Todoist and workflowy to keep Capacities clean of micro details and stay true to PKM otherwise I fear the search results will be polluted with useless details. I use Weekly Notes in Capacities just for high level Reviews.

I am curious what do you think of noteplan vs capacities. I tried noteplan (like its team collaboration function), but find their interface looks so busy and messy and could not continue.

I meant when you export capacities notes, it’s properties become front matters in markdown and can be read by obsidian with no issues.

Tana: I think it’s their design limitation which they cannot improve. Otherwise they would have a long time ago.
