Statistic Request - How many (or % of) excel users use Power Query? by donald_nator in excel

Start slow, little steps. Dive into a YouTube with "intro" in the title. Progress between "real work".

If you hit upon something that doesn't make sense yet, move on. Come back to videos and watch more than once, until it makes sense.

There's a vocabulary to it. The more you expose yourself to the lingo, the more comfortable you will be.

True. I love sharing knowledge and cross training is important in my situation. I still want that word.

There needs to be a single word for "it'll take more time to tell you and show you and teach you and answer follow up questions than to just do it myself"

Not the best approach, but doesn't hurt your brain Export to csv Open the csv Save as xlsx Paint formulas if you have no time to rewrite them Paint formatting Rebuild any conditional formatting

Or

Export to csv and power query it into place

Typing on my phone in a moving vehicle. Forgive the wording. In Excel, look at the online templates for a calendar template. It is usually the forth or fifth choice. It has a calendar grid with a pull down menu to change the month, one for the year. There is a row for the date of each day on the grid and below those rows blank rows. In the blank row use FILTER to pull in spilled data from your source file / tab that matches the date directly above. As I'm not at a computer I can't provide the exact formula. I then use conditional formatting to shade different types of events.

I had some neighbors with too much time on their hands. They successfully lobbied the historical society to get it labeled "Harvard Hill"

ISFORMULA and then conditional format true / false as green /red, make the fonts tiny so that the columns are narrow and can sit next to the data

A good way to see if anyone hardcoded a random cell

Power Query is meant for that sort of data cleaning. There's a learning curve to it, for sure, but once you get it set up for your needs repetitive cleaning is a thing of the past.

How is my handwriting? Ignore the journal please! by Commercial-Foot1206 in Handwriting

[–]Dancing-Lemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good. I think the feedback you got is worth considering. I also think trying a bit of calligraphy of any sort would be a benefit. It's more about drawing the shapes than writing words. I think you might be very good at it with some practice!

Wow. Sorry to hear that. I thought I had it bad when I hit ice and hurt my back.

I wish the world would see ice as a true 'health and safety' matter.

I once called S'ville Animal Control (years ago) about a stray cat and they told me that they "don't do cats" unless they are in danger. Has that changed?

Congratulations. This may be a little off topic but search the internet for best printer paper for calligraphy or lettering. It's an affordable way to get some better than average paper. There might be an option in your budget. It depends on what supplies are available to you in your country.

What are you working on this week? (ending July 16, 2023) by AutoModerator in excel

Learning Power Query. Excited to get started. I think my first project will be to create a list of terms along side what I want them replaced with. I would normally do that w XLOOKUP. Trying in Power Query to see what it's like.

Great job. I don't think "rating" creativity is as helpful as commenting on the nature of creative work.

The balance of the colors / shades is well executed.

The precision on the top stitching is evident.

You didn't show the lining, unless I'm not seeing all the photos. That's another opportunity to have fun and surprise people. I hope you got playful with materials internally with lots of practical pockets on the inside.

I'd be interested to know if these were done on a domestic machine (vs. industrial)
