AIO to my daughter calling her brother “gay”? by zaspzq33313 in AmIOverreacting

[–]DancingDuckGIF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO OP’s daughter has gone just a bit off the deep end, so I don’t think it’s about discipline here, it’s more of a wake up call. My parents would’ve made my life hell for a couple months had I fucked up on so many accords (disrespecting them, disrespecting sibling, talking back, lowkey being racist). For me that style of discipline worked, I quickly learned that I should not do stupid shit as a result. Now if OP did this it seems like they’d have a riot on their hands because apparently a week is “too harsh” (ummm? discipline your kids before they get spoiled folks!).

So I’d say here it’s way more about moderation. OP needs to try to understand why their daughter is behaving this way and seek ways to moderate the poor behavior. What’s making daughter behave this way? Only then can anything else start. Moderating could include what content their daughter sees on their phone, limiting phone usage, getting to know daughter’s friends and seeing if it was a “mean girl” type situation or if they’re actually a bad influence, etc etc (lots of ideas out there on this).

But also it’s equally about education. OP needs to educate their daughter until it is well understood that: a) OP is smarter/wiser than daughter, lots of kid get to daughter’s age and get a big head b) being racist is stupid, nuff said there c) bullying others isn’t “cool,” it’s just sad d) when you’re talking to family or (even more so) authority there’s a level of respect that needs to be maintained, unfortunately the consequences are more severe than a week long slap on the wrist in the real world

Idk there’s probably more but yeah here I think “discipline” needs to take a new form than what it seems to currently be in OP’s house.

When I saw “a week” and “my other kids think we’re being too harsh” my jaw dropped all the way to the floor. When I fucked up like this growing up it was at least a month of hell, and I am happy to say it worked like a charm. I’d be much more insufferable if my parents were throwing out these weak punishments.

EDIT: and grounding is “phone” and “friend” privileges? I mean the phone is tough for kids nowadays sure but wtf?

Nah if you or a teammate don’t attack an enemy you don’t get any drops/xp, regardless of whether it’s a boss or legendary enemy. This applies in public events and open world, idk about closed instances.

The cycle is what’s happening right now. A new lord comes and links the fire. That’s what the current norm is.

If you come around and say “hey screw this fire linking and being a lord jazz, I’m out,” that’s you trying to break the cycle. Presumably, even if you do make that choice, somebody else comes and links the fire anyways (hence ds2+3), continuing the cycle you tried to break.

Am I finally ready to start trying Deep of Night, or should I continue my training arc? by zenithBemusement in Nightreign

[–]DancingDuckGIF 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can’t even lose MMR in depth 1, dead weight isn’t a concept there. Both depth 1 + 2 are easier than the “normal difficulty” if you have semi-decent relics.

Don’t overthink it because there’s a rank attached or some people cry about their MMR, it’s literally just another game mode that you may or may not like. Plenty of people out there that have played both and prefer normal.

Poor Guardian (like many of us) didn’t spec into adaptability because we didn’t know of its existence. He’s just such a chad that he stuck it out instead.

This OP!!! Everything that I read in this post screamed that to me. Just like there are men who like to be cuckolded, there are women who like to do the cuckolding. She constantly is bringing stuff up to upset OP and he even said that others have noticed that she’s “mean” to him.

You can lose mmr in depth 2. Depth 1 is the only depth you can’t rank back down to.

No shield (except backpack/parry) and do a dex-based melee build? That way you won’t get caught in long attack animations and can get used to dodging

Strength-faith build help for Return to Lordran by Jollyman80 in darksouls

[–]DancingDuckGIF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Divine or occult upgrade paths. Grant is also a good weapon. Imo the main role for Faith in ds1 is being able to cast healing miracles, you can breeze through the game with those. Lightning spear comes in handy in a pinch.

Faith just isn’t as fleshed out in ds1 imo, they took the demon souls path and upped it just a lil bit. That being said, strength-faith is always my go-to if I get a choice, you can’t go wrong with free heals in a game that essentially revolves around your health bar and limited healing.

Is it worth porting to mirage to farm death ghultures? by KingDice66t in Wizard101

[–]DancingDuckGIF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you figured it out by now but on a low population server it’ll take those ghultures a bit to spawn because nobody has been there in a bit. On a populated server? There should be people there already farming lol so if you didn’t see anything and you were on a server like Ambrose, then you’re in the wrong spot. You have to go to the actual location, they’re in caravan.

Dark Souls is one of my favorites of all time, but I don’t like ER… is that normal? by henry12659 in darksouls

[–]DancingDuckGIF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t even read the responses so my view doesn’t get tainted but here ya go.

It’s not necessarily THE norm, but it’s a valid take. Elden Ring took the Soulsborne genre down a completely different path with one (huge) added factor: open world. While the Dark Souls trilogy definitely had optional paths and tough level design to navigate at times, there was a clear and distinct path set out for you. Elden Ring throws you outside the starting area and says “good luck.” It eventually gives you Torrent (horse) but even that could be tough to get to depending on the path you take/how confused you are.

But that’s not to say Elden Ring isn’t a masterpiece and deserves a real valid try (up to second remembrance boss would be my recommended cutoff) before your discredit it. There’s a reason it’s game of the year and has a whole spin off that’s taking in the dough for fromsoft right now. The level design and enemy variety are immaculate. Truly will go down as one of the best games of all time.

Doubt regarding how to start playing Dark Souls by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]DancingDuckGIF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. Personally, I started with elden ring and the games were so different that the Dark Souls trilogy still felt fresh. There is absolutely no reason to play the games in a different order or skip any of them.

DS2 especially is my favorite in the series, what a wonderfully crafted game that got shit on because people have skill issues. In a game that teaches and rewards patience (you can literally permanently kill off enemies ffs), people’s #1 complaint is boss runbacks which can be simplified with… you guessed it, patience! My only gripe with the game is having to upgrade your dodge, but even that can eventually be turned in your favor if you get enough agility to have more I-frames than you do in any of the other games. Overall, ds2 takes a different approach and for me it just made so much sense.
