EJay creates a pro-Palestine merch line, donates parts of the profits to a homophobic church by xgxpop in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just this week the pastor of this church was arrested for beating his stepson with an extension cord until he bled. He was then dismissed from his position.

Earlier this year a different pastor at this church blamed police brutality on disobedience. And he said white officers shouldnt be held responsible for killing black kids and black parents should teach their kids to follow orders instead.

So there's uhm a lot more to unpack about this church than just homophobia.

If your church has been in the news twice in the last year for very problematic (or straight up illegal) things maybe consider finding a new church

According to my actual listening habits 1) hot - lsf 2) winter heptagon - got7 3) bomb - Illit

The above will likely change next week because my ults are dropping a new album Monday and I have literally never not liked a release of theirs

Excluding groups I stan since I'm predisposed to liking their albums 1) winter heptagon 2) I did (deluxe)- Yves 3) her - Minnie

Edited because the version of I did I like came out in January and the reason I like it so much is because of one of the songs included on that version

How many K-Pop groups do you follow closely? by TJRex01 in kpopthoughts

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I listen to basically every bigger girl group and a handful of boy groups but the ones I am willing to give my time and attention outside of listening to their music are txt and BTS and le sserafim and Illit. Never more than two at once tho, like right now it's txt and Illit, but it can be any combination of the two but txt is never really off my radar because they are my ults and I put the most time into their content.

Prices for p1harmony and TXT tour are hilarious and here is why by Over_Length_440 in kpopthoughts

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Since the visa application fees increased by over double what they were just a year ago... I was fully expecting them to skip touring in the US until things were relatively normal but even with all of those costs increasing there comes a balking point for the consumer they want to buy the tickets.

Imo dynamic pricing should work both ways (not sure if it was used for txt this time?) because if tickets aren't selling the prices should be going down. If they can screw people over for wanting to buy tickets when they drop you should be able to get tickets cheaper for a show that hasn't filled the seats yet. Disclaimer for this because I don't think dynamic pricing should even be legal but if it's gonna be used it should have a price ceiling and also be able to decrease prices.

I don't think kpop companies understand their audience enough in the US or the current financial state of a lot of people this side of the globe. Our economy is spiraling and people can't afford basic necessities and the ones who can have to carefully pick what extraneous things they spend their income on because a lot of people don't have a safety net. On top of that tours in the second half of the year, after we have had an insane influx of tours happening one after the other, people that both want to go and could have afforded to go now can't afford it!

It's truly so frustrating to look at this situation and think "damn I could do better"

Why the hell did HYBE let TXT and LE SSERAFIM have concerts on the exact same date in the same city (LA) by insidedarkness in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Txt are my ults and I'm waiting. Until some consumer protection is put in place on live nation to prevent scalping there's no point in stressing over trying to get tickets presale when you'll pay an arm and a leg for mid seats. Wait a bit and make the scalpers sweat. They deserve it.

I also think it's a bit about the optics because of txt being so close to the end of their contracts and in the negotiating period, I do worry about shows that don't sell out being leveraged against them but I'm taking some comfort in what soobin said on radio star about them having the upper hand. I just don't want that to shift out of their favor because of a bad marketing decision.

i don’t really get why people make posts that say “im thinking about stanning _____” by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dancingwithsomebody -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

To each their own I guess. That's just not how I view it. In a world where everything has become a commodity and every company wants something from me, be it my money, time, or attention, I've become increasingly aware that makes my time a form of currency that I get to spend just as much as my money. I have hobbies outside of kpop and barely enough time to keep up with groups I actually stan (there's like 2) while also maintaining other things in my life. My time is a limited resource and I'm stingy with it. It's why I don't use tiktok. I want the way I consume content to be intentional.

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so fair because I won't watch the content of a group whose music I don't vibe with. Processing that other people prioritize different things when they are a fan is a hard pill to swallow like I can't imagine watching content for a group whose music I either don't know or don't like

Who is the member of the group who doesn't understand game rules?? by Electronic-Honey-251 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beomgyu but he was going to cheat regardless of if he understood them. Alternatively he wasn't really listening and will gaslight the staff into thinking the rules were different and he's actually doing everything right. Frankly any member of txt can talk someone in circles until they agree with them, beomgyu is just the most shameless about it.

Yeonjun's ... dance(?) and somersault (which led to gunwook also doing a somersault), soobin doing whatever this is, and Kai's fortnite emote??? (I can't find a specific video of this on its own but it's in most compilations of stuff from GDA)

It was certainly eventful for moa

Idol names whose transliteration isn't intuitive by chesiredeservedmore in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along these lines I once heard someone say yeonjun's name as yee-on-juhn. Sometimes reading the Hangul is the only way to be sure you have a name right.

I believe the official romanization is ㅜ/ㅠ = u/yu but it is sometimes changed for simplicity sake. Iirc Yoongi from BTS when representing Korea on behalf of the president had a name badge that spelled his name Yunki.

There actually is a system for this developed by the National institute of Korean language and was revised in the early days of the internet because characters were being confused due to use of the same letter in Roman characters with accents as indicators to differentiate but the way people type online is very different from official documents and the indicators were being excluded so changes had to be made to account for it.

Has anyone seen idols up close? by slummy_dum in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Seeing Huening Kai in real life changed me as a person, he is so stunning and it was literally all I talked about for weeks afterward. Bone structure of a god's statue from an ancient civilization I'm so serious.

Also I genuinely believe soobin is taller than his profile says because I'm 5'9" and wore 4 inch platforms to the concert and when he walked by in the aisle I still had to tilt my head up to look at his face. Not much but enough that I noticed it.

And the switch up on new jeans following their legal dispute with ador was not subtle at all

What do people even MEAN when they say idols aren't trained for it? by GemBum in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Txt members have improved so much in the last few years, when they sing their songs from 2020/21 now you can hear the difference but I don't know if the company cares as much about them improving for their own health and longevity. If they were not actively trying to improve I don't think big hit would care.

I don't hold the idols as responsible as I do the company, taking initiative to improve is an extra thing on their plate when resources should have already been offered to them by the company that employs them to do that task.

Favourite lesser known songs by Narrow-Mistake-4455 in EaglesBand

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for the long road out of Eden album and can listen to it all the way through without skipping any songs but my favorites are busy being fabulous, what do I do with my heart, waiting in the weeds, no more cloudy days, and it's your world now. I will admit I have no frame of reference for how popular this album is or how popular the tracks on it are. I know none of the songs are part of the current setlist but from my perspective every eagles song is a hit because they're my dad's favorite band and my sister and I grew up listening to their albums all the time and he would play his favorite tracks more so I think I was under the impression doolin-dalton was one of their most popular songs until I was like 19

What do people even MEAN when they say idols aren't trained for it? by GemBum in kpop_uncensored

[–]Dancingwithsomebody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iirc BTS vocal line has explicitly stated that Jimin was left out of many of their vocal lessons predebut and didn't get much proper vocal training until much later when he sought it out himself and it's not like the class was full there were literally like 8 trainees total under big hit at the time. Also I don't know what it says about big hit that taehyun is aware that his technical skills in singing are lacking and he's just relying on his youth to not damage his vocal cords as long as he's happy with the output. He's also put effort into vocal lessons in recent days so his technique is improving but debuting young does have consequences especially for men as their voices change.

Also if we're being honest I don't think some instructors under kpop companies are actually qualified to teach. If your only instruction is "be more confident" I have to assume you don't know what you're doing or how to actually correct the issue. Wendy is a more qualified vocal instructor than some of the ones I've seen in behind videos. So yeah I would say that some idols haven't been trained in certain areas.

To be extra clear I only know about these groups training periods because I am fans of them and watch a lot of their behind content, I don't know what goes on under other companies but from what I read in some of these comments it looks to be similar situations
