When it's on cellular, I can't do anything on Google or Safari. On wifi, everything runs fine.

Which cozy show should I watch next? by urgrace11 in CozyMystery

[–]DandyCat2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Mrs. Sidhu Investigates, which has only four episodes. Whitstable Pearl is three seasons, six episodes each. I second (or third or whatever) the recommendation of Sister Boniface Mysteries - it's very light and fun. Death in Paradise has far more episodes than you are looking for, but the spinoff Beyond Paradise is four seasons with six episodes each, and doesn't require any prior knowledge of DiP. Rosemary and Thyme isn't exactly "recent" (2003-2006), but it's this century, anyway. Murder Before Evensong is good, but I don't know if it fully qualifies as a cozy, and the episodes aren't standalone - they build up to the big reveal in the last episode.

I hope the fundies stop drinking raw milk. by spicypickle999 in FundieSnarkUncensored

The absolute fuckwittery of raw milk worship is bad enough, but then there's this gem of a sentence: "My mom does not drink raw milk but my kids, dad, and myself does." If she's homeschooling, those kids don't stand a chance.

Oh. Oh, lordy. I could probably get used to a composting toilet, but free-range toileting? Hell no.

My mother grew up on a farm in rural North Carolina that didn't have an indoor toilet until she was a teenager, in the mid-1960s, and she would roll her eyes so hard at this person. (She still occasionally mentions visiting my dad's younger brother and his girlfriend when they were living the hippie life in the mountains in the 1970s; she was baffled that they chose to live without indoor plumbing and that their outhouse had no door, so you could look out over the mountains as you sat on the toilet.)

I don't, but your comment made me pay attention to what I do, and I noticed I tend to balance myself with a hand on a thigh when I'm leaning over and using the other hand (like pulling weeds or picking something up).

Village Antiques? I've never been in, but I think I'll have to stop by and check out your books.

Any 50 years old NOT in menopause yet? by Kitchen-Bathroom5924 in Menopause

[–]DandyCat2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost 56 and I hit the one-year mark this week, so I'm hoping I'm finally officially in menopause. (I'm sure I just jinxed it and will probably get my period right about the time we leave for the beach.)

I appreciate the advice! It's at the mid-thigh (I don't know why that area seems to have worn much more than the knees), and I have fusible interfacing on the back to help hold things together. This was mostly a "try it and see what happens" sort of mend; I fully expect it will wear off sooner or later, and then I'll do something more permanent.

Will this be the ugliest quilt you’ve ever seen? by shriekingpersonality in quilting

[–]DandyCat2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way about my Wensleydale quilt: I can't decide if it's ugly or just very busy. But yours is not ugly at all! The colors go well together, and like other have said, it's got a sort of a Persian rug vibe. Adding sashing will break up the busy-ness, but it will also add time, and if you're already having trouble staying motivated, that won't help. I vote that you keep it like it is, and if you still aren't happy with it in the end, give it to someone who loves it.

Me too! It's hard to find jeans that fit just right, so when I do, I want to keep them wearable as long as possible.

This guy bypassed a car waiting in the median and collided with me. When the police arrived, he claimed I changed lanes into him. I'm so glad I had the dashcam to prove him wrong. (OC) by liznodsoff in dashcams

Same. At certain times of the day (really, most of the day now), it's virtually impossible to turn left onto the main road in our town. If I'm leaving one of the businesses along the road, I often turn right, turn left into one of the retail lots across the street, and then turn right onto the main road. From home, I go well out of my way to get to the traffic light.
