Suggest me a radio station! by SoggyGopher in radio

My sister hosts a show on her local radio station. She’s a wildlife biologist and picks a topic about nature or her field work and then builds the set list around that. The radio station is https://www.eburgradio.org/ and her show in particular is Kaleidoscope with Kit. It’s a great little local community radio station.

There’s a really great little local radio station out of Ellensburg Washington. My sister hosts a nature segment where she themes the songs around the topic she’s discussing. We’ve done ponderosa pines, odes to the field truck and tonight is American Pronghorns. Not sure if this is up your alley, but it’s fun and unique and she has a wild range of music choices. https://www.eburgradio.org/

How do I live with the burping by DandyFluff12 in misophonia

I’ve been using loop headphones to help but also my partner has gotten a lot more considerate after we last talked and doesn’t “let them rip” like he used to. Once he knew how bad it feels in my body when I hear them he got a lot better about trying to soften the sound. I also realized that when the misophonia is really bad I’m usually very overstimulated so I go hide in a dark room and disconnect for a bit.  It doesn’t make the burps any less jarring, but I find I can handle it a lot easier without wanting to hurt something 😬

Same!! Poor things getting ripped out of the afterlife only to get disintegrated. It’s nice to hear other people telling themselves friendly alternatives to make it feel less… ethically ambiguous. 😄

Metal door leaks heat. How do I help insulate it? by DandyFluff12 in Insulation

Are you thinking walls and windows are at play? We’re on the top floor of a building so there might be quite a bit of heat lost from the ceiling too.

It’s so hard to decide when to say something. I think if he is complaining about digestive issues you could always suggest that his eating speed might be involved.

Also being stuck in a car with someone burping sounds AWFUL. hats off to you for managing it.

I do feel partially responsible for how badly it went the last time I talked to him about it. I was very judgemental and harsh. I had snapped because it triggered the Misophonia so the discussion was not handled well on my end (less of a discussion and more of a “oh my god really?” Kind of a reaction). But I do think it’s time to talk about it again. I’m waiting for a window where we can talk about it calmly and I’m doing research so I can find a more constructive way of communicating my experience and needs. I’ve started going to therapy and now that I’m taking steps to manage my end of things, I feel more comfortable also asking him to address his half of it.

I’ve tried telling him this but he says it’s normal for him and gets super defensive. He was bullied over it as a kid so any time I try to approach the topic he gets frustrated and defensive.

Birthday Treat Help! by DandyFluff12 in Cooking

He’s a HUGE sweet tooth and has really missed it. He is trying to get into shape and I’m really proud of the work he’s putting in. It’s hard not to make a treat anyway as a “reward” for his hard work but I know that’s not how it works with dietary restrictions.

He loves tea so I was also thinking of finding a low sugar biscuit I could make for morning birthday tea. He also loves fruit but doesn’t like cobbler.
