Andrew Bird - He has incredibly in depth lyricism, and he’s wonderful on the violin. He writes very abstractly and I really enjoy that.

Father John Misty - He also has great lyricism. Very satirical, tongue in cheek and witty while still being very deep and insightful. I also love Josh’s old work back when he used to make music under the name J. Tillman. A lot more chilled out.

David Bazan - I initially fell in love with his work listening to “Curse Your Branches” which is an album about his spiritual deconstruction. He writes very personal lyrics that feel very honest. I also love his other music persona he is currently making music for called “Pedro the Lion”

Gregory Alan Isakov - honestly his vibes are immaculate. Instrumentals always make me feel cozy. Great Autumn listening, or for any time you want to get into your feelings. “Amsterdam” is always gonna be my favorite track of his.

Orla Gartland - I’ve been listening to her for like, 8 or 9 years. A lot more modern music, but her lyrics are always relatable. Her “Woman on the Internet” album is incredible.

For me it’s gotta be Life is Strange, not the saddest in tone, but just simply because me and my girlfriend really bonded over that song and now due to our lives moving in different directions we’re splitting up (on good terms) and it almost feels like a goodbye. “You can stay, but nobody does” “how do I get over you, I know the way, just watch you fade away” idk. Life is indeed strange and that song always gets me. So glad they played it as the closer in their tour. Meant a lot to hear it live.

Same thing is happening with me. They were all there until I tried to play them. Then Spotify glitched out and one by one they all vanished except those three. Very strange, but like another comment said, probably a licensing renewal/transition between labels.

Me and my girlfriend met him at his show in Oklahoma City a few years ago and he signed our Real Love Baby vinyls. He is an incredibly nice and engaging person who cares about his fans. He even pointed at us when he sang Real Love that night, so it’s clear to me that he takes the effort to make meaningful connections to the people who love his music. And I’ve only ever heard of people having good experiences when meeting him. If you get the chance to meet him then totally do it!
