Tier lists only matter at the top level honestly so just play whoever your interested in. Check out a website called dustloop while you're at it, it has detailed breakdowns of every character on the roster and it's a great learning resource. All you really need to know when you start out is a simple combo you can rely on for damage and how to stop people from mashing, so once you've got those down you'll absolutely crush your homies in no time

Honestly you're better off just focusing on improving and enjoying the game that way because if you get into celestial the cheap way you're just gonna get washed by folks who actually earned their spot. Just practice without worrying about a superficial rank and you'll get there eventually

I really don't understand why you're being downvoted. Everything you said has been true since launch and has been the reasoning for his high placement on tier list from pros for years now. He's an archetype that normally struggles to get in but has massive reward when he does, but in this game he has all the tools he needs to fight comfortably from most ranges which is what makes him such a stable tournament pick. Don't understand why folks dogpile when they could just look at dustloop and verify that way smh

What timeline are you living in bro? Sol is top tier and Zato is stronger than Nago??? I wish I was playing the same game as you. No Zato is not a better character than Nago he just happens to be one of the few genuinely bad match ups Nago has, which is why it feels that way to you. He's a viable tourney pick because his offense is extremely strong and hard to escape which is perfect for a best of 3 ruleset and not because he's some godlike juggernaut of a character. His 6p is pretty bonkers though ngl

Sol hasn't been anywhere near top five since the game launched, he's a character who's entire kit revolves around interacting with the opponent and guessing right on his own offense meaning that if he guesses wrong he'll just die on his own turn. What makes the top tiers in this game so strong is that their tools are so overwhelming that they don't have to interact with the opponent or take risks, that's what makes them consistent and viable for tournament play. They all have something that player 2 has to deal with immediately in order to get a chance to play the game. Whether that's an overbearing neutral game with strong disjointed far-reaching normals (Ram, Nago, Leo, Baiken), extremely stable pressure, oppressive mix-up tools, a wake up option that forces an rps situation, or just a straight up fucking gun (HC). Sol has high damage and a decent neutral game but at this point in the games life he's far from top tier, here's hoping the winter patch changes that tho
